I like Dander. I never feel gross or anything. I see their connection since Him. And later in Potential, it's so obvious. The "Both normal, both with no superpowers, both extraordinary" thingy really works for me. 🙂

I love Dander!!! I remember thinking how cute and adorable Dawn's crush on Xander was in S5, and then again when Xander said that comment in "Him" about "I miss the much cuter ME crush." By the time S7 rolled around and Dawn was starting to mature, and especially at the end of "Potential", I really held out hope for them.
I always thought Buffy would have accepted it if Dawn and Xander became a couple after S7. After all, she told Xander that he was the only one she would trust to get her out of Sunnydale alive and she sent them away together. I think part of her thought "If we don't make it, at least they'll have each other".

I have a hard time with Dander because he seems so big-brother to her in the show and I haven't followed the comics. But I do love that scene in S7.

Eh, whenever I think of Dander I think of All The Way when Xander said "I'm gonna marry that girl", obviously talking about Anya, who he dearly loved. Then Buffy responded "What? She's FIFTEEN and my sister so don't even think about- oh."

Also, how the full grown, 20- year old man named Xander used to BABYSIT little adolescent, junior high school Dawn in S5, basically her brother. And how he played the part of her dad in S7. Hmm. 😀

But, I'm adjusting, and this is a beautiful thread. 😀 But I think that Xander and Dawn have too much of a brother/ sister relationship for it to work.

I agree with you^^. I don't dislike Dawn/Xander, but their relationship just seems a bit odd to me. In my opinion Xander was more of a brother figure to Dawn than a boyfriend/lover. I mean yeah, Dawn did have a crush on him, but I think they had a more of a special bond then, then they would if they dating.

Sorry I know that this is an appreciation thread but I just can't get on board with Dawn / Xander. There's been a lot of ships' I haven't been fond off, but I could deal with them. Anya/Xander - I can deal. Spike/Buffy - that's ok. Willow/Kennedy - vomit inducing, but just a little vomit. Xander/Dawn - I really see him as being a big brother and those past moment's between them in the past as a building of a friendship/family bond.
As a couple I just keep picturing this scene :

I'm In love with the whole Dander relationship. Seriously i've supported them fully for a while now and they are just the cutest ever. I haven't read the comics lately actually I think I stopped like 6 issues in or 8 something like that so I have no idea whats going on in the 8th season but I really hope they get the chance to become a real couple. I mean I think its sweet and its not like they are that far apart in age and I really don't see how its creepy at all. Just because he babysat her and she's Buffy's younger sister. It happens all the time in real life so I don't see the issue but yeah. TOO ADORABLE! I mean they understand each other and care for each other as friends and their friendship is deeper then of the normal, So I think they're relationship would be a good one.
