Okay so is there a possibility that XAnder and Dawn might have hooked up looking back at eps like Potential the chemistry between their characters is unbelievable. I think that they were made for each other. Now that's just my opinion what's your's?

I think they would have made a cute couple too WS... lol I mean its not hard to believe that they could have been because so many people fall for their best friends siblings. Plus age isn't a thing really... I think it would have been very likely that it could have happened..I kinda wish it did

Woewohoe.. Xander and Dawn?

I kinda find that disturbingo. What is this chemistry that you speak of?

Wasn't Xander being all parenty to Dawn in Potential?

Actually, whilst i do agree that there was potential (once Dawn was legal obviously) for Xander and Dawn i saw a lot more potential in Dawn and Spike.

There was definite attraction from Dawn's side and i think he was starting to see a lot of what he loved about Buffy in her. Add that to the fact that by the end of the series she had become a total hottie and i reckon there could have been something there.

I mean, let's face it, the age gap was much less than for Buffy and Angel and they kinda sorta liked each other! 😉

Ah I just don't see them as a couple, sure Dawn had a crush on him when she was younger but who hasn't had that for an older siblings friend? And also that scene in Potential, I think their chemistry there was much more like between siblings or something. Just try and imagine that scene ending with the two of them kissing, nah, it just doesn't work.

Well I know where you are coming from, but I do think that it was more of a crush out of anything.... I mean it was just a fling and thats it... it would have been interesting to see, but I preferred Xander with Anya and Dawn with her high school crushes.... I guess i just can't see them together....

Who huh??? Xander & Dawn

I'm going to have to go with no on this one. They do have chemistry but its more like big brother little sister.

Besides Xander's density is to be with a demon.

"Can I say somethin about destiny? Screw destiny! If this evil thing comes, we'll fight it and we'll keep fighting it until we whoop it. Cuz destiny is just another word for inevitable, and nothing's inevitable as long as you stand up, look it in the eye, and say "you're evitable!"'

Xander isnot destined for anyone. I would have argued that Anya was his perfect 'mate' but as she is dead, he need to move on. The idea of Teen Dawn and Xander, thats a little freaky, but i can totally see Xander and Dawn getting together when she's about 23/24.

I'm not really sure why you would think that Dawn would need to be 23 or 24, DDM. I mean, if Buffy had been set in the UK then Dawn would have been of legal age at 16 and Xander is at most between 4 or 5 years older than she is. Hardly a massive age difference.

Admittedly because Buffy is set in the US then they couldn't do anything physical until she was 18 but she was well on the way to that by the time the show was ending and it wouldn't have been unusual for things to have started developing between her and Xander. Again, i point you to what we saw happen with Buffy and Angel whilst she was 17 and he was heading towards the point of needing a flame thrower to light the candles on his birthday cake! 😀

Personally i dated quite a few girls who were 17 or 18 whilst i was in my early twenties. In fact the biggest age gap was a couple of years or so ago (i think) when i was 27 and dating a 21 year old. I reckon that as long as both people are legal and both happy to be together then it makes no difference if the girl is still in her teens. Or the guy for that matter because the age gap can work both ways.

No, i mean from a maturity angle. Both people have too much growing to do before they could get together.
Legally, by the end of season 7 they were at a stage to pursue a different relationship....but neither were ready for each other.
I suggest 23/24 as that gives Dawn the time to finish school, understand who she is and what she has to offer the world a little bit more, and it give Xander time to truly define himself career wise, and be able to work at a relationship properly with Dawn...plus the baggage of Anya is gone by then

I'm working on a basis of the character we actually saw, not what could have happened back then.

Aaah, fair enough then! Yeah, in that respect you are correct. Neither one was necessarily in the right place emotionally to be considering anything serious anyway.

BUt then again, you could also put an argument forward that, 'when its right its right', so i suppose they could, if they wanted, work through it all together.....ahhh big fat hairy bullocks.....the point is, i dont see an issue with Dawn and Xander.....i see more an issue with a 200+ man and a 16 year old girl........but hey, thats not the issue.......

That's pretty much my view as well. Two people know when they like each other and i've always had the opinion that as long as they both know what they are doing and make each other happy then it's not a problem.

As for the Buffy and Angel thing, well i would imagine that once you get above an age gap of about a century then it all becomes rather meaningless, lol!

Yeah....but still.
You dont go...hmmm i'm a Vampire 240(?) years of age....ohh theres a 15 year old Vampire Slayer....i'd like me a piece of THAT.....which is a cruder way of saying what we saw in the show.
I mean at the time it seemed romantic to watch, but with the benefit of hindsight, can't help thinking its a bit creepy...lol

I've had conversations with people about this before actually. One thing that has been said to me previously is that even if Angel was only considered to be the age he was when he first became a vampire then he was already 26 and therefore even deducting the vampire years he was still almost a decade older than Buffy.

I don't know. Whatever you might think about legal ages of consent and age gaps in relationships there will always be somebody else who thinks you are being too strict or not strict enough. I mean, there are still people who would make it the law that there was no sex before marriage and even then only for the purposes of having children. Not a law i would like to live under, lol!

Everyone has different opinions on this and it is one of those topics that you will usually never change your opinion on. In the case of Buffy and Angel there is no doubt that a really (REALLY) old guy was finding a 16 year old girl sexually stimulating. Now, here in the UK that would be frowned upon but not illegal. As long as the girl was a willing participant in the relationship then no laws would be being broken.

Of course we aren't talking about a guy over two centuries old when we are talking real life! However, that is kind of my point. When you have lived all those years and it is quite possible that you could live for hundreds of years more, it must get to the point where age becomes irrelevant to you. Nearly everyone you meet is going to be massively younger than you so what difference would it make to you if the girl you found yourself falling for was 16, 26 or 56?

I just think that it is our human mortality and awareness of age groups that makes it an issue for us. Once you found yourself living forever i would think you might not feel the same way anymore.

While i do agree and see your point, its just the basis that we live in this world.
BUT at the same time, it still appears wrong for this man to fall for someone at the age of 15(as we are lead to believe he saw her a year before he actually met her). Now i can buy the 'love can destroy all barriers' that people use.....just still, with hindsight, feels bleurgh....

If Xander has to hook up with a Summer, it should be Buffy. They are a match made in heaven.

If seven years of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has tought us anything, its that Buffy and Xander are not compatible.....they love each other granted, but that IS 100% a sibling kinda relationship.....

I remember reading that SMG actually believed that Joss originally planned for Buffy and Xander to end up together in the end. It was only once he had switched plans around to bring Spike back as a regular that the idea was put on one side.
