The beginning of Buffy compared to the end of Buffy look like two completely different shows. We start off with 90s kissing in the school halls to basically have sex in the rafters in the bronze. Alcohol is off limits near the beginning to just another prop near the end. The show definitely progresses.

With that said, do we know how far Xander and Cordellia may have went sexually? I know Xander later goes on to have sex with Faith so are we so assume he lost his virginity to her? Cordelia doesn't really redate in High School (does she?). She goes on to live in L.A. From there she goes on dates. I can't really recall her hooking up with anyone until the episode she wakes up pregnant.

Is there any mention of Xander and Cordellia going all the way, or just more mentions of "first loves."

Forgive me, it's been a while since I've watched some of these episodes. If my questions are simple, then maybe they can at least spark conversation. 🙂

It was made fairly obvious that Xander lost his virginity to Faith in 'The Zeppo'.

"I'm up, I've just never been up with people before."

Which means that, while they may have done some things, Xander and Cordelia never had sex.

I was never really sure about Cordelia, because she implies that she's definitely been there when she's teasing Buffy.

Ya, Xander's first time was most likely with Faith. No idea when Cordy's first time was, most likely it was just off screen. I think they would have made a big deal out of it if it would have happened, or they would have at least hinted at it.

I mean, Buffy/Angel=huge deal
Willow and Oz=huge deal (x2, it came up at Christmas, and at graduation)

I got the impression that Cordy wasn't a virgin in Season 1 of "Angel," but it was never established who her lover might have been. By the end of Season 3, however, it's pretty well established that Cordy and Xander are at least on friendly terms once more, so there is a possibility that they might have had what Anya refers to later in Season 7 as "post break up sex." Nothing definite, but not really out of character for either of them, given the time and circumstances.

I think in 'Bad Eggs' when the teacher is talking about sex, Cordy mentions something about doing it in a car. By that I assumed that she was not a virgin. And in 'Phases' wen her and Xander are making out in the car she says that she wants to do unspeakable things that she can never tell her father about. Which does seem odd since they didn't have sex apparently cause Xander does lose it to Faith. So I think we're to assume that they may have done everything except sex. I like to think that Cordy really cared about Xander and didn't want to treat him like the other guys she used, that's why she was going to wait for sex. But who knows when she actually lost her virginity.

I always thought that Cordelia was the most sexually experienced girl in the main cast- she dates older college guys, goes to frat parties, she's the only one we see 'parking' with a boy and its clear that she's done it before(see 'Bad Eggs') - she just has that self asuredness that comes from knowing what you're talking about.
Xander hadn't had sex before The Zeppo', (as he makes clear to Faith) but almost certainly Cordelia had, perhaps either with a college-age guy or an exotic holiday fling.

I think sex was a 'thing' for Buffy and the Scoobies but really nobody else. Oz has had experiences 'off-screen' and no doubt so had Cordy.

so there is a possibility that they might have had what Anya refers to later in Season 7 as "post break up sex."

I doubt it- I don't think I've heard of 'break-up sex' that occured before 'actual relationship sex'. Xander and Cordelia were in a better place after 'The Prom' but it was still just a friend place. Xander certainly might've wanted to but Cordelia? I'm not so sure.

Is it just be that thinks that there's a strong possibility that Cordelia was also a virgin when we saw her in her highschool years?

I don't know, I know plenty that did that stuff: college parties, make out sesh in the car at night, without necessarily having sex. To me it's just kind of maybe she did, maybe she didn't.

Well, I think Xander did lose his virginity to Faith. I also think Cordy was a virgin in highschool, but I got confused in 'Bad Eggs' she was talking about sex in a car.
Maybe they did some groping since their favorite place are closets, but nothing else.

I really believe that Cordelia wasn't a virgin. To me nothing about her seemed to suggest that she was and by the time she moved to L.A. I most certainly don't feel like she was anymore.

To me, the fact that pretty much nothing was said about her sex life is the TV equivalent of a teen show saying that yes, most definitely she'd had sex and to avoid any kind of judgement or slut label they just glazed over it and pretended it wasn't there at all.

Condoms were actually shown in episode S4 'Where The Wild Things Are'.
Riley's seen reaching into a drawer for one between passionate-less bouts of love-making. 😛

But I'm not surprised that you forgot- not a very memorable episode. Apart form Giles singing and said reactions to that singing...

I guess it doesn't really matter with vampires (unless you read those awful Buffy has a child with vampire Angel/Spike fics...🙄)
Xander/Faith didn't use one I'm guessing. Bad Faith.
Oz/Willow definitly did imo. Oz is considerate, responsible guy that way.

And Anya mentions condoms in 'Harsh Light Of Day' when she 'seduces' Xander by getting all naked.

I agree. If they mentioned the guys she's having sex with, we would just say that she's a big slut. Buffy does call her a "vapid whore" so maybe Buffy knows that she's had sex with a few guys.

Xander/Faith didn't use one I'm guessing. Bad Faith.
I never thought about that. It did seem like she just jumped him and went at it. Kinda the same with Wood. I've got to assume that with all the casual sex she has, she is smart enough not to get pregnant. How awkward/weird would it have been if Faith did get pregnant and returned in s4 with Xander's baby? lol

Knowing Xander's luck with women I'm surprised that this didn't happen. Perhaps Faith has some tried and true technique to avoid unwanted consequences. She never seemed like an advocate for safe sex- Xander and Wood just being examples of that.

Pregnancy would be the least of my concern.

Like STD's? I'm guessing slayer healing takes care of most of those concerns (we see that slayers rarely get sick and recover quickly when they do) but perhaps Mr. Harris should've been a bit more cautious. 😉

Haha that's true. Well being that all of her encounters seem random and spontaneous maybe she just walks around with condoms on her at the ready, cause she never knows when it's going to happen. lol. I think Wood would be more responsible, but I doubt he had one on him, or that Buffy kept any in her room.

Yea Xander should have been the one more concerned. lol. That depends on what slayer healing really does I guess. It could fight off the virus or just the symptoms of the virus.

I haven't read all of the responses yet! I just came across the episode, "Bad Eggs" and I wanted to mention it before I forgot. Cordelia mentions a hypothetical scenario of a friend who has sex in a car. I assume she is talking about herself and I guess isn't a virgin when she is with Cordeilia.

Fuffy Baith Beat me to it! 🙂

I was thinking they mentioned in The Zeppo in particular. I see nearly everyone confirmed it. It was mostly Cordy that was questionably I suppose. I am pretty sure I can pin-point Buffy's and Willow's pretty easy.

I think it would have been a nice twist to have Faith later mention that she lost her's to Xander in that episode. Since she is constantly putting up a fake-front anyway. It could have given her a sweeter moment. Anyone agree? I'm not a Faith-Xander shipper, btw, haha.

Sorry. lol. Hmm that would be a twist but wouldn't work with the scene in the Zeppo.

But then isn't Cordy meant to be that ulitmately kind of 'It girl' or popluar person around schoo? So part of retaining that image would be for her to act all cool and calm when it comes to talk of her sexuality. That side of the character rings true to real life, where you hear people brag about having sex, and sure they might have experienced, but are still mixing fact and fiction in regards to how many times they have actually had it, or the nature of those relations. This is what happens with Cordy I think. Yes chances are she has had sex at the start of the series (or at least early on), but chances are it was maybe once or twice rather than the multiple times she would like people to believe. I see her character in two ways on this front. Firstly, because of a different up bringing to the likes of Buffy/Willow/Xander then maybe she was a bit neive when it comes to sex, and so was more likely to do it with a guy without thinking first. On the other hand because of the hidden depths which we slowly see in Cordelia then there is a chance that she might be more careful in private, but claim otherwise in public.

Exactly.
Being 'the most experienced of the main cast' might only mean that's she's no longer a virgin- having had sex only the once. But I don't see Cordelia treating sex like say, the way Faith treats it- like its casual and doesn't mean that much beyond pleasure, just that it's something she's experienced.

For example Cordelia thinks nothing of agressively pursuing a guy she thinks is cute (like Owen or the clearly much older Angel)- that's confidence that comes from knowing that she'd desirable, rather than just thinking that she's attactive.

Agree more with your first point. I think Faith and Cordy see sex differently, but certainly its possible that Cordy like many young people might dismiss its importance and might not see it as being that much of a big deal if she did sleep with a guy she barely knows.

I think the Owen thing is more to do with winding Buffy up. Yes, I am sure she found him cute, but there are many people you can find cute, but not actually be attracted to. I get the sexual confiderence aspects, but I do think that with Cordy it was just part of being the It girl to project this rather than because she believed it. On the other hand you could view that side of her persona as being stuck up, and maybe too good to be that bothered about sex. That is another reading for me.
