I've recently read this wonderful Xander fic:
Memento Mori by Sparrow2000
14 chapters, very dark and angsty. An alternative ending to S6 and what might have happened afterwards.
That was the saddest, most interesting, most beautiful story I read in a long long time! God the tears I shed for Xander, I love reading a story that makes me cry for Xander!
The writing is wonderful, so much attention was paid to detail that the story feels so real and alive. I can just picture myself in Xander's place and that's another great thing about the story: Xander's thoughts and sadness and fear were so vivid. They way she captured his emotions from start to finish was just spectacular. I also loved reading the other characters' expressions and reactions through Xander's eyes.
The plot was very tight and well constructed. It's a mystery story that makes you think. And my favorite part of the story was the friendship between Xander and Giles. The Xander voice was just perfect.
I strongly recommend this fic. Even if you're not a Xander fan, you'll enjoy it for the mystery and the beautiful prose.
