Xanders parents...

Okay, was wondering if I could maybe get a little bit of help from you all, I am thinking of doing a Xander fanvideo which I have been wanting to do for SO long, but I haven't have the computer.
Anyways, I need your help!
Which epsiodes did Xander talk about his parents, have his parents involved, or anything to do with this parents...??
Okay, I feel like this all came out jumbled... sorry, but I hope you get what I mean!

There was an episode in season five when Xander and Anya were moving out, he was talking about them then

There's the bit in "Amends", when he talks about his family's drunken Christmas fights, and when he calls home in "Surprise", he first says "Hi Mom, it's me" and then "Xander!" like she didn't know who he was at first. I'll try to come up with more, but that's all I have at the moment.

Hells Bells comes to mind.

The first few episodes of season 4 when Xander moves down to the basement, he mentions his parents making him pay rent.

Also probably any episodes around Christmas time, Xander sleeps outside then to escape his parents arguing. I know he brings this up with Cordy as well as Buffy and Willow at some point.

I know thats not much help since I don't remember specific episodes, but hopefully it helps some 🙂

In "The Harsh Light of the Day" Anya mention Xander's mom wanting him to "add fabric softener when the timer goes off". If it's relevant, Xander's Uncle Rory is mentioned in "I Robot, You Jane", "The Dark Age", "The Zeppo", "Fear Itself", etc.

Out of Mind, Out of Sight: Xander asks Willow to have dinner with them, his mom will make her famous phone call to the Chinese restaurant to which Willow replies, "Do you guys even own a stove?" which shows that Xander's mom doesn't cook.
Nightmares: Buffy feels upset that a coach would beat a boy over a Kiddie League. Xander replies that she's probably never been on Kiddie League. Xander it's surprised it wasn't one of the parents. Which shows that one of Xander's parents, obviously his dad, beat him when he was a kid for losing the game.

Season Two:

The Mummy Girl: Xander tells Buffy and Willow in the beginning of the episode that his father tried to sell him.
Surprise: Xander phones home and his mother answers. He says, "Hi, Mom." His mom doesn't recognize her only child even though he said Mom, because Xander will say after a pause, "Xander," which means she asked, "Who is it?"

Season Three:

Amends: In the end of the episode you'll have a shot of Xander sleeping outside on Christmas.

Season Four:

I forgot the name of the second episode, the one with Buffy's annoying roommate, but Buffy asks Xander if he eats at home, and he says he had to pay money to eat at home now.
Restless: Most of Xander's dream is about his fear of his parents and fear of becoming them.

Season Five:

The Replacement: You see Xander being uncomfortable because his parents are fighting in the beginning of the episode.
Forever: Xander tells Willow that his parents are scary.

Season Six:

All of Hell's Bells.

Which shows that one of Xander's parents, obviously his dad, beat him when he was a kid for losing the game.

That's a pretty big assumption out of nothing. I was surprised it wasn't one of the parents either and I've never played baseball ever. If you have been to a game or know anything about little league you would know the parents get freaking insane. I've never been to a game but my psych teacher a few semesters ago coached and he said they have to have the police at their game to make sure the parents don't really go insane and beat their children.

Beating Xander when he's drunk sounds like something that might be in character for Xander's dad... but we have no proof or real evidence of it and using his statement in Nightmares as evidence is stretching it and making a huge assumption out of nothing. It's like if I said "that girl is cute" and you assumed I was in love with her and was going to marry her. Or if I said to one of my friends if they asked me to hangout "my mom said I can't" and you assumed my mom never lets me because she's an evil dictator parent when in actuality we had a family dinner we had to go to so that's why I couldn't.

Considering that in his dream in Restless his father transforms in the First Slayer and rips his heart out, I'd say it's a not so radical interpretation of the text.

You might be right, but the way Xander worded it gives the idea that he was talking about an old experience. I think Xander dreaming about his father ripping his heart out does say there was physical violence. And even if there wasn't, trying to sell his own son is way worse than beating him.

Just because he's played kiddie league doesn't mean his dad beat him. It just means he has knowledge of the parents of kiddie league... Who are insane. Also I haven't played kiddie league but I would have said "you obviously haven't played kiddie league" too. This doesn't show he played kiddie league. Although it does suggest it.

Again, I don't see how the wording has anything to do with it... My very first watch, I said the exact same thing when I realized it was the coach. Does that mean my dad beat me too?

I think there probably was some physical violence with Xander's dad... but I don't think the line about kiddie league proves it and I don't think it was about kiddie league. I'm going to take a stab in the dark with my knowledge of domestic violence and say it was probably when he was arguing with his wife about money or other things. Xander's father probably placed some blame on Xander for his problems with his wife. I also interpret that bit in Restless with some emotional abuse too. It's likely Xander's dad hit him occasionally... it's far more likely Xander's dad yelled at him and made him feel really freaking small all the time. You can beat someone up without hitting. Emotional and verbal abuse probably occurred a lot in Xander's childhood. Probably even about kiddie league if he did indeed play. (that of course is considering little league parents are kind of known for their harsh words... bordering on verbal abuse. There's even a name coined by psychologists for it: Little League Parent Syndrome (LLPS) )

Maybe you're right. But I guess we'll never know. I'm not the only one who thought the line meant that Xander was beaten up. I know some fans who thought the same thing. Even read a couple of fics in which Xander got a shove or a slap from his father after losing the game when he was 10.
