Xander's religion

Anyone know or have any theories on Xander's religion? I'm assuming some type of christianity, any thoughts on if that is correct, and if so, what denomination?

I always took him for an athiest

while he may not believe in a god in the typical sense, he certainly knows that there are higher powers, the PTB's if you will. Also, I was referring more to the religion he was raised in.

Guessing by his parents continues fighting, I think he was raised athiest also. Thats just what I think.

we know his parents fight a lot. and one of them drink's a lot. was it his father who he wanted Buffy to keep away from the bar?
