Xuffy anyone?

I remember how obviously into Buffy Xander was when I first watched the show-he clearly adored and respected her. So I was dissapointed in a way that they never got together. Buffy was always like I only see him as a friend bla bla. I still think that they would have made a nice couple.
There were loads of teasing moments, such as when Buffy was under the love spell and when she had to be conforted when Angelus sends his love!
What are everyone elses thought on the subject? And any fave almost lovey dovey moment between them? I also like the scene when Xander reminds her of who she is and gives her her confidence back in the Freshman. Very relatable.

Yeah, I think they had great rapport, but I don't see them as a couple, not really. I liked how Xander crushed on Buffy, it was so high school. By season 7 though, I could never think of them as a couple, they had been through so much together, they were like family. Nobody likes incest.
Willow and Xander, when they hooked up, weirdly, I could imagine them as a cute couple.

knowing what I know now, I would not want them together at all. They are like brother and sister.

But back then...first few episodes... I was really pulling for Xander. It lost intrest though, when I found out how much Willow had the hots for him I didn't want him to end up with Buffy anymore. Then the odd couple of him and cordy appealed to me, he pissed me off when he cheated on her with willow...and then Anya came into the mix. One distraction after another and I forget about wanting them to end up together. I was succesfully destracted! 🙂

If I could chose who he truely ended up with and give him a normal life/ wife...I'd so hope for Anya. They had one of my very favorite relationships.

I see Xander's fixation on Buffy in Season 1 and on into Season 2 as about the same thing that Cordelia and Wesley had in Season 3. Great anticipation, greater let down. To me, Buffy and Xander have just always shared an almost sister/brother relationship, and going any farther with it than that would be almost like incest. About the only thing wortse would be Buffy and Giles (there's a very good reason we call it Bile).

I think I've heard suggested somewhere that originally the plan was certainly for a Buffy/Xander/Angel love triangle. Maybe it was a case of the actors and the characters causing an unanticipated change of direction for the show. I mean SMG and NB had great a rapport but it was not romantic, it was more friendship based. I find the idea of a Buffy and Xander romance very strange.

I always sort of wanted it to be im not going to lie. i guess in early seasons. yes, looking on later seasons they are brother-and-sisterly. but i wanted so bad for him. he was right in "Never Kill a Boy on The First Date"... she needed someone who knew her deepest darkest secrets and still said hey, i like that girl! i mean, i guess Angel in a way was like that, but Xander was NORMAL lol. Don't get me wrong, i <3 Bangel and it's so right for the show... but man... poor Xander.

I always kind of wanted Xander to get the girl....okay, maybe some of that is because Xander reminds me a little of myself.

Well, SMG said in some interview I read somewhere that she honestly thought that Joss had originally intended for Xander and Buffy to get together in the end, but as the show progressed, it just became impossible. (I imagine, what with them becoming such close, platonic friends and all.)

Maybe a Bander union is still in the works 😉 I wouldn't be opposed to it, really. I think it's possible for deep friendship to turn into romance. Just as the opposite can occur: lust can turn into friendship and even, if you argue that, love. (In the case of Spuffy, anyway.)

I do agree, though, that seeing Bander in bed together would be quite strange....

I was always secretly hoping Buffy would wake up and see the true man in Xander... He worshipped her and loved her unconditionally!! But I think as the show went on, it just grew into something else. Still, I held onto my hope until Season 6.... 😉

I always hoped Buffy and Xander would end up together. That she would get to a point in her life, and figure out that she should be with him. He wasn't always the nicest friend to her, but hey, he didn't try to kill her. Unless he's twilight of course. 🙂 Then to hell with the lot of them.
