The wind speed record was renewed the other day when it got to 289 km p.h. when a category 5 cyclone slammed into the northern Western Australian coast.
No injuries have been reported as the cyclone gave plenty of warning about where it was headed.
It is currently crossing towards the east.

I have been watching this, it was almost impossible not to with all the warnings about it! They just keep getting higher readings with better equipment it seems. As this wasnt nearly the worst cyclone they've seen.

I saw the photos of the roadhouse, lucky they were all elsewhere taking cover! Im glad the caravan parks got cleared out in time. Cyclone just in time for the holidays!

Ooooh, nice kite flying weather! 🪁🪁🪁
I used to sell kites (still have a bunch in the shed) and it is most definitely not good kite flying weather haha gusty wind is terrible for kites! Even coastals winds can be too much for some. They like a nice calm slight breeze. Like playing the flute, not like a fart.

I guess you missed that 400 kmph gust of wind back in 2009.
