I just wanted to tell you all (read brag) that I am off to see the wonderful Mandy Patinkin LIVE tomorrow night singing songs from the musicals in London.

I am so happy🙂

You would probably know him as Rube from Dead like Me, you younger kids BUT he has done so much more...including my favourite childhood movie, Princess Bride!!!

*is jealous*

*sulks in corner*

You should be, here is why:

Mandy Patinkin comes with impressive credentials, from a Tony for his debut on Broadway in 'Evita' to a Pulitzer nomination for the title role in 'Sunday in the Park with George'.
...
But anyone new to Patinkin would wonder exactly why he spends an admittedly impressive two solid hours revisiting old Sondheim numbers, his beloved Yiddish songs, and mangling normally indestructible standards such as "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", cut with chunks of 'The Tempest' and, oddly, the Gettysburg Address. On a bare stage, in a black T-shirt and slacks, he is saying, this is me, no razzmatazz.
...
Patinkin's outstanding pianist, Ben Toth stepping in at days' notice, was tested to the limit when one number appeared to collapse entirely. Substituting Sarah Palin for Evita in the inevitable "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" got a laugh: "She did NOTHING for years ...".

I love that he mocks Palin in Evita...even though I like her🙂

I am gonna hear this tomorrow night - I am already in tears, tomorrow evening I will be balling like a school gilr who has just been kicked in the ovaries by a ne'er do well horse!

Awww. I love Mandy Patinkin... and the Princess Bride is something I have the earliest memories of. 😉 (Favourite movie until I saw Stardust, now shush, people)

I am jealous, too. *sits with Blondie*

Have fun!!! And let us know how it goes!!!

I just heard him sing Cats in the Cradle on Youtube and I am bawling my eyes out!!!
Oh my god I saw him and he was absolutely amazing, I am now in love with the man.

Thing is, the night was made even better by the fact I stood right next to (read arms touching) Elisabeth Sladen who plays Sarah-Jane Smith in the Doctor Who franchise.

She is stunning!
