You can now snort chocolate — but should you?

First came Four Loko, the alcoholic energy drink dubbed “blackout in a can.”

Now meet Coco Loko, a “snortable” chocolate powder being marketed as a drug-free way to get a buzz. The product, created by Orlando-based company Legal Lean, includes cacao powder, as well as gingko biloba, taurine and guarana, which are commonly found in energy drinks.

Nick Anderson, the 29-year-old founder of Legal Lean, says he heard about a “chocolate-snorting trend” in Europe a few months ago. He ordered a sample and gave it a try.

“At first, I was like, ‘Is this a hoax?,'” he recalled. “And then I tried it and it was like, okay, this is the future right here.”

That led him to invest $10,000 into creating his own “raw cacao snuff.” It took about 10 tries over two months to come up with the mixture, which was created by an Orlando-based supplement company.

“Some versions, they just burned too much,” Anderson said. “Other times they looked gray and dull, or didn’t have enough stimulants.”

The effects of the cacao-based powder, he said, last about 30 minutes to an hour, and are “almost like an energy-drink feeling, like you’re euphoric but also motivated to get things done.”

What do you mean "now" aussie boys have been snorting Milo for a decade.

WHY? Just why? I woudn't ingest that crap in any shape or form. Bored boys who are too scared to try the real stuff?

And Wizz Fizz. Many high school memories come to mind
First you could eat it or drink it, now you can snort it. What's next? Chocolate suppositories?

Civilization, as we know it, is spiraling into oblivion.

Oddly ,this is a subject I know waaaaaay too much about .

For years I ve been a smokeless tobacco user .I used to vape loads . I use a bit of Swedish snus but I mostly take nasal snuff . 😀

Adding chocolate as a scent to tobacco snuff is not uncommon .The scents marry well so snuffmakers will have been at it for centuries . In recent times there's been a resurgence in both tobacco and nontobacco snuffs , largely due to online commerce and smoking bans etc .

There are some amazing chocolate snuffs coming out of India these days

This is made by Sixphoto and it is one of my favourites in winter . It's got a bit of menthol in there and a milk chocolate flavour .Sounds vile but it works . 🙂
There's others about. Dholakia do a Swiss Chocolate that is highly regarded amongst snuffers .

It's not just India either , here's one from Poland

Energy snuff also has a history with a proliferation of brands from all over the world . That pot of Coco Loco looks a bit Indian to me and the founder shares the same surname as the worlds leading exporter and reseller of nasal snuff ...from India . All possibly coincidental stuff but it makes me suspicious of the veracity of the marketing .

Wherever it comes from , I suspect it will be a decent experience .....if you fancy putting chocolate in your nose 😀 .

You just know some idiot is going to try and make their own by crushing up a chocolate bar and snorting that instead. LOL when A&E have to deal with that case especially if it was a popping candy bar.

Because people don't frown down upon energy drinks enough, let's make something more edgy!

Can see this being popular in Australia. If my high school experience with Wizz Fizz (a powered candy) is anything to go by, kids will love this stuff. With a lot less pain I assume.

Kids won't love it so much when they get spots inside their noses.

🙂 I have a 'fizzy' Indian snuff with tiny rocks of popping candy in it .

They also do a few nontobacco soda/pop style flavours . It's not just the Indian companies either . Centuries old German and British manufacuturers have modern flavoured non/tobacco snuffs .

It's not even a new phenomenon either . Check this stuff out 😀

This is a manitol (I believe) based energy snuff from the late 1970s and early eighties . This was stocked in headshops and such and made (on contract)by one of the major British snuff manufacturers . It made it over to the US as well . I remember this stuff from when I was a kid 😀

The youth of today seem quite keen on putting things in their noses but I strongly doubt snuff will ever make a comeback in the younger generation . The mechanics are different . With 'illicit' substances the powders are inhaled deeply into the nasal cavity . With these sort of products you want to 'sniff' lightly and coat the mucus membranes at the front of the nose .It's a whole different vibe 😀 .Also, most of it comes out looking a let less cool than when it went in . 🙂

A lot of quitter smokers and a few 'dippers' get into nasal snuff later. Also the young hipster crowd seem to be into it recently .

I knew someone who once tried snorting pop rocks candy. You can imagine that didn't go so well. There was lots of blood involved.
