You get an "F" for Fat...

Exactly, its not so much a big deal for EVERY child to know whats healthy, because some get lucky and have high metabolisms (like I have *phew*) but there are those who wont, and if it's not taught at a young age, it will just be lost in them, and it will eventually catch up with them.

Also, I dont know about most schools, but I didn't learn about health and fitness until I was in the 9th grade, WELL after I would have needed to know it. They should make it mandatory as soon as the kids get into school. It useless any later than that really.

How many overweight people do you know that voluntarily step on the scale?

And America is getting fatter...there is statistical proof. In the article I quoted over 40% of school age children are overweight/obese.
A lot of overweight people weigh themselves daily.

Frankly, what's considered normal weight seems low imo - I'll try to find the chart but when I've read it before I want to say if you're 5'2 you should weigh 112 pounds and that seems too thin...

What I'm saying is it's not too thin. Too thin for what? What do you mean by saying it's too thin? There's plenty of people who are less than that, like me and my family, who don't have any health problems. It's your type of thinking that is making these really strange standards that make kids feel too thin or too fat if they don't fit some made up standard that apparently everyone should work for. And it's the same way for overweight people.

Whoa there nelly - my point was that sometimes when you look at what people consider the 'right' weight sometimes it seems that a person could be a little more (or less) than that and still be healthy. I think we are both making the same point.

Let's not get into 'people like you' -ing...
