Watcher Diaries. I'd prefer if they were written in the style of actual diaries, instead of just novels. It would be a great way to flesh out the lore and let us learn about past Slayers and the enemies they faced. It also gives a wide range of settings since Slayers could be from any time period or place, as far as I know. What do you all think?

Plus, singe each diary would be a totally personal, individual thing, there wouldn't have to be any need to stay with a single format or writing/narrative style, Multiple authors could contribute without having to worry about contradicting or conflicting with a colleague's work. It's a contract writer's dream come true.

That's a great idea. DC Comics released a large, leather-bound book called the Batman Files. It's written in the style of Bruce Wayne's diaries throughout his career as Batman, and it's awesome! Something like that in the Buffyverse, from Giles and Wesley down through the Watcher's through the ages, would be really neat. It's something the author could really run wild with as well, because like you said, there are pretty much unlimited settings and time periods to work with.

Yeah, this does sound like a good idea. I'd buy it, simply to learn more about Watchers and Slayers of the past.

Why doesn't anyone really write Buffy novels anymore? ;_;

I'm assuming they don't think there's any money in it since the show has been off the air for almost a decade, but boards like this show there is still a fan base and the fact that they are planning on making a movie ( *shudders*) shows someone thinks there is money in this.

I would totally buy it. Reading Giles' personal diary throughout his life, including his time during the show? That would be so awesome.

But I don't know, I don't really like any of the Buffy novels. Considering they're not really canon, I consider them more like fanfiction...

I agree, I've read most of them and there's only one I like (lost slayer)... the others as you said seem too fan-fictiony

I totally agree; I'd love to read The Watcher Diaries if they were written as if the Watchers actually wrote them.

I think it would be amazing to read "Giles'" diary, and especially hilarious to read "Wesley's". 🙂

Who knows, maybe the movie will cause the franchise to have a revival of some sorts, and we can have more novels *Hopes*
