Younger Family Members Scared While Watching Buffy?

Well, I know for a fact that my 6-year old neice is scared of Season 1. I was having a Buffy marathon on New Years Eve, and she wanted to watch it with me. After the first vampire scene, she went running from the room.

So, anything similar ever happen to anyone else?

No, my siblings and I watched things that were much worse than Buffy when we were younger.

I watched this episode inwhich Joyces ghost comes and visit Dawn,... unfortunatley I have to say that it was me who was really scared! My little brothers and sisters don't watch Buffy so I don't know if they are scared but I guess they would be!

You aren't alone in finding that scene a little scary. Can you imagine if someone you know visits you like that after they die? It would freak the hell out of me.

My kids watch Buffy with me (& request specific episodes)- they're 10, 7, and 4. I do choose episodes carefully, I probably wouldn't let them watch Conversations with Dead People. Sometimes the 4 year old thinks some things are scary, but the other 2 generally don't. Then again, like I said, I don't let them watch every episode. We also skip quite a bit of season 6 lol. And I tend to skip over the sex scenes, had to do that recently with Amends and IWRY.

Really the only thing I remember from watching Buffy as a child during its first airing was Derkindestod from "Killed By Death." It scarred me for life and I still have to skip over the scenes with him when I watch that episode.

My daughters both watch the show and love it. There has only been one time when my youngest, who will be 4 on Sunday, has ever been scared, and it was when Spike appeared in Angel's office, all vamp-face, snarling at everyone.

Nah not really my little sister loved it and still does. She was probably only about 7/8 when she first saw it and she'd watch them everyday if I let her borrow my box sets though. We don't let her watch Angel though as that's more adult IMO

I was never scared watching Buffy, but there are some pretty frightening scenes.

This scene reminded me of The Evil Dead. Well, that movie is scary.

I walked in when my mother and little sister were watching 'Welcome to the Hellmouth' (this was how I was introduced to Buffy).
When Buffy was thrown into the coffin with the dead person, she ran out of the room, screaming "Ahhhhh! Dead guy! Dead guy! Eww, eew, eww!"

She loved the scene in Restless when Buffy says, "I walk, I talk, I shop, I sneeze..." I would say Buffy's part and my sister would say, "No friends. Just kill. We are alone." Good times.

My older kids favorite quotes are: "Stupid plastic piece of crap!", "it's time to kick your puppet ass all the way back to hell!", and "Out for a walk...bitch". What can I say: they're boys!

This is interesting actually. My younger sister (she's nearly fourteen so...) watches it with me. In fact, I don't think she'd let me watch it without her, tbh. We're both die hard fans of the show and we're fans of it together. Dudes, we're practically twins though so...yeah. Twins with an age difference.

But anyway...

My point is that it's not my sister who gets scared. I did discover someone though. She's thirteen years old and she's my friend Natalie's little sister. I'm slowly getting her to fall in love with the show and it's totally working. The second ep I showed her was The Body and that ep (the end with Dawn and the vampire) actually freaked her out quite a bit. And we watched Hush....god, the Gentlemen scared her but she still loved it. It was interesting to see someone even somewhat terrified of something going on onscreen because I never get that way.

So yeah.

My 11 year old sister watched some with me. And all she had to say was "Wow! Buffy isn't scared of anything, is she?"

So that was pretty awesome.
