Your Christmas

So, seen as we have many new members and it's that time of year again....I'll ask the question again, how will you be spending Christmas this year?

We are at home this year 🙂 SO happy about this! I love Christmas at home. Just me, Abbs and her Dad. She will no doubt get up around 5/6am and come into my room and wake me with her stocking presents. We go through them and then get dressed. Abbs is not allowed downstairs until everyone is dressed. Then breakfast. Then presents....then chaos till dinner....then new dvds are watched while I try to stay awake lol... This is the plan... I'll have to wait and see if it happens like this, probably not but hey it will still be an awesome day whatever happens.

I have family in town that are staying with me so most of my time will be spent catching up, eating and lounging around most of the day. My main plan is to kick everyone's ass at Dutch Blitz.

I bought this game for my dad for Christmas! haha can't wait to play, board/card games are a must for our family reunions!

Which brings me, Xmas will be spent with family. We open the gifts on Xmas eve, first at my dads for dinner, and later on at my moms and we celebrate late with some sangria and watching TV. Then the next day I have a lunch party with my extended family. All good stuff!

Christmas eve my bf and I are staying home and cooking duck for tea.

Christmas morning, its say happy christmas to the ponies and exchange gifts. Then off to mums for a huge breaky and pressies. We usually have a big spread and seafood. My sister wants me to go to the beach with her after mums, then we are off to the other side of the families christmas dinner. More gifts and probably alcohol and waaaay too much food. Not sure if we are crashing the night elsewhere or coming back home, I guess it depends how "festive" we get haha.

Well late today I will drive out to my family to spend x-mas there. From there drive halfway across the country to a friend and celebrate new years. And I won't be able to come on till then so I wish everyone here a merry christmas and a happy new year.

Christmas Eve with family- we go to Midnight Mass then come home, have something alcoholic like Irish Cream or eggnog and get to open one present each. It's all a family tradition.

Speaking of family traditions- does anybody have cheese with their Christmas Cake? We do it all the time at our house.

Anyway. Christmas Day morning is again with family. Breakfast, open the rest of the presents, then going back to mine to spend the rest of the day with my girlfriend (who doesn't have any family in England so she's staying with mine this year).

We're not going to eat a whole turkey between us, so I'm cooking us a couple of steaks (something I do well) with some nice wine and a Christmas Truffle cake for afters.
Unwind on the sofa and watch telly sipping glasses of Baileys. We'll watch Doctor Who (for me) and Downton Abbey (for her- she's a Downton nut 🙂)

Boxing day will probably be really lazy- enjoying whatever presents we get. Most likely I'll get a couple of good books, and I got her a Kathy Reichs novel, a fluffy dressing gown, and a (hopefully) tasteful necklace that she'll like.

I hope my niece enjoys her plushy Mr. Pointy. The rest of my family just isn't going to get that gift at all, but I'm sure she'll be thrilled.

Christmas day will start with a little sleep in for myself and my fiancé. We're then going to his sisters house for his side of families Christmas for lunch and will stay for probably 4 hours. Then back to our own house for Christmas dinner with my family. We glazed our own ham this year and may have sneakily tried some haha, so now we can't wait to eat more of it; delicious. Then we'll do presents after dinner followed by a mixed berry trifle that I am making. All in all, a day with a lot of food.

Wow, everyones plans sounds great, I'm so jealous. I have to work Wed. and Fri. so I don't have time to drive home for Christmas and my roommate is going to be gone, so I'll be home alone on Christmas day with nothing to do. Maybe I'll make something nice for dinner, and just watch Christmas movies.

Christmas day is pretty relaxed for me, til the family comes over in the evening and the games start, my mum, aunt and brother are all really competitive!

@Blaze: Working near Christmas is the worst, I hope you still manage to relax a bit with good foods, if anything you deserve at least a small break on the 25th

Thanks guys. No worries. Next year I should be back home. And I'll have at least 1 present to open from my secret Santa at work. I plan on sleeping in and relaxing all day. Nothing to fancy for dinner. The good thing is I don't have class for two weeks! Woo! I think for New Years I'll probably end up drinking. lol

I'm spending Christmas with my parents, my brother and my uncle, like every year. We're having dinner at my parent's house and tomorrow we're having lunch at my uncle's.

My Christmas was weird, my son was not with us and it's the first time that happens, luckily managed to find a free seat on the airplane and at lunch today he will be at home, so for me the real Christmas is today. This is also my second Christmas without stomach and I would say that's a big victory. Two Christmases ago I was very ill and in February I was diagnosed with stomach cancer, I can not say that nothing has changed since then, because I'd be lying, but even if now I have to deal with chemotherapy, I am still alive, and this's more than a victory.🙂

I spent Christmas with my immediate family, it was very intimate. We all woke around 10 am and opened presents as we ate monkey bread. It was nice, I received a few nice gifts. My family usually feasts on christmas dinner around lunch time because it's tradition, but this year dinner was pushed back to actual dinner time and it was delicious. After helping my mom clean up the dining room and do a few dishes, it was time to relax. My night ended with watching some Angel S1.

Spent the Winter Solstice with the family at our house, which was lovely until the political debates started. Always time to jump ship at my family get-togethers when alcohol and politics get all swirly with each other. But for the most part it was nice.
Christmas eve, we went to my aunt's house for a few hours and then I came home to cook dinner for a few friends, which was very nice.
Christmas day was pretty chilled out. Just saw the grandparents in the morning and went back home to relax and have a quiet dinner.

TV wise it's been Miranda, Downton Abbey, Mrs Brown's Boys.
DVDs have included Frozen, The Grinch and in the really not Christmassy at all category...Grey's Anatomy and Witches of East End.

Plan on having at least a couple more days watching and reading what I got for Christmas before I get back to that pile of work that's tormenting me.

No, Okay... I received a lot of gifts, including a wool scarf handmade by "my boys" from listening center where I am working as a volunteer.
For me it was a true surprise 🙂

Books. Tons of books.
And my girlfriend got me a really nice watch. Plus I got 'House Of Cards' (the US version) S1 and 2 on DVD. Anyone know if this is any good? I'm gonna be swamped watching S3 of Buffy as it is so I'm wary about getting caught up in another addictive show as well.

Ditto on the tons of left over food- and I even got 'stitched with the clean-up' even though I cooked! *grumble*😉
All in all I had a great holiday- the family all got together for a wonderful time on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day evening was really relaxing. 🙂

And my niece even staked me a couple of times with her Mr. Pointy!
