SO!! It's that time of year for this kind of thread! 😀

What are your plans for Christmas this year and are you ready for it??? 😀😀😀😀😀😀

My plans for Christmas day have changed about three times already! As far as I know, we are going to my parent's for Christmas. Arriving at lunchtime and will head home before the kids’s bedtime. My parents only live about 15 minutes away so no need to stay over.

I'm never ready for Christmas. Luckily I don't see most of the rest of the family til after the day and by that point I usually have enough spare squids to get everyone something small.

It's strange having a one year old this time around (she was only 3 months old last year). We've done lots of Christmassy stuff so far. And we even went to see Santa Claus today, which as you can see, went amazingly well. 5 pounds well spent.

Yeah, that Santa looks positively thrilled to be holding the rugrat. Granted, Santa typically likes this time of year but I bet he's regretting Winter ever came this year.

I'll be spending Christmas with my family. No real plans aside from a good dinner, and probably lots of wine and beer.

New Year's Eve, which is the far more fun holiday, I will be spending at the barn having a party!

New Year's day is back with the family for a brunch, or maybe lunch.

I will probably coax my mom into making a six pie for New Years.

I bet he's regretting Winter ever came this year.

Hasn't come yet in Canada. Last year this time we had 2ft of snow. This year, just today we had 60mm of rain.

@Mr. Pole It's not the rain that I mind, it's also the fact that it's near 0C, and those 2 inches of rain will transform into 2in of ice over night 😛 Have you ever been skating on the roads? There's a high chance that we'll be doing that tomorrow!

@GwenRaiden I normally like rain, but at this point please give me snow! I can't remember even having one Christmas where there wasn't snow on the ground, it'd be a tragedy.

Big whoop!!! That's only two inches!! We get that without breaking a sweat.

Ah. Well, it was in the mid 60s year yesterday and I figured like most Northern American (see, I wanted to say country) you too had warmer weather.

Ice. Sucks.

I love driving in the winter, in snow and all (of course a big 4x4 always makes it easier) but whenever we get an ice storm, you get that feeling in your stomach the night before, thinking, 'its going to be horrible going into work tomorrow' So yeah, I can sympathize. Although you are wrong about it turning into 2in of ice.. it wont be THAT much little drama queen.

edit: actually I don't mind driving on ice at all. I mind everyone ELSE driving on ice.

To be fair, this is extremely warm weather for the time of the year where I'm from. Last year we had already reached -20 weather at this time, this had been the warmest year since well...as long as I can remember. I'm not complaining too much cause I'm enjoying the warmth, but at this point we need the snow to arrive.

Remind me to get off the road if I see you driving on that ice 😛 But you're right, we should get THAT much ice, they've been sanding and salting the roads like crazy since yesterday.

I've only done that twice. Drove off the road twice.. in a ditch once.. and on sidewalks twice. Almost toppled over into a river but thus far have not gone swimming.

Au contraire mon frere. That would be your first mistake as I typically end up driving on the sidewalks.

Isn't that how it's usually done?

The Barn? What is that your version of the Bronze!😛 Are you going to be partying with horses😉 And you should be struck down by thunder for saying that New Years is more fun than Christmas!😱 First of all its all part of the same holiday, and second Christmas is filled with great gifts (and I make sure mine are great😉), great food and drink, and fun Christmas films and TV, and making fun of my older brother😉

Anyway, am staying in London for Christmas and me, my Mum and brother are going to my Auntie's. This is good news as I have three big essays all due in the first week of January and need to work on them as much as possible over the next few weeks, so good that I don't have to travel. We will have turkey, watch one or two films, and TV related bits I am guessing TOTP, and Strictly so they won't be my choices, but we tend to have a system where at least will get to choose at some point. I'll drink and lot, and we might play a game or something. Boxing Day is kinda about the Football for me (and I pray I won't have much work on at that point...), but also more drinking, eating, and again maybe a film or two. New Year's really I normally spend with my Mum and Auntie and involves TV/DVD? And food and drink, but being in London I might see if anyone from college wants to meet, but we'll see. I'm quite laid back about these things, don't get why people blow NY up into such a big event. Happy Holidays people.🙂

Bet you thought I meant bar eh? Nope, I mean barn, yes, I am going to party with the horses...in fact it usually gets pretty fun riding around after a few beers! 😛 see, I just don't care as much for the gifts, I prefer a good time with friends, and family, and great food, and let me tell ya the French love their NY! We know how to party!

No its true I think Christmas is more about friends and family, but then as part of that I do like buying gifts for people I like. I guess its the personal aspect of going out and choosing something for them which I enjoy. Television and games tend to be a big part over here, I do enjoy Christmas films. But your not French?😉 Hope you have a good one.

I've finally finished the wrapping of birthday and christmas presents for Abbs, lmao it took 3 hours!! Anyway, onto everyone else's presents tomorrow and Friday. Got Abbs birthday Sunday then its gearing up to the big day 😀 This year we are home thank god....so looking forward to it. It's gunna be great 😀 New Years Eve...no plans 🙁 probably just alone watching tv...boring I know but on NYE you don't get babysitters lol.

I was way more on the ball this year as far as plans and gift buying - I was mostly done by the end of October, and have picked up a few random things. This whole month has been full of pre-wedding activities for my SIL and her fiance, plus good friends of mine are getting married this weekend. It's been nuts! My Christmas will be much more chill this year, which I am grateful for. It's a lot of work hauling three kids around! So, I will work in the morning of Christmas Eve, then I am running the youth program (singing Christmas songs, etc.) at 5:30 pm at church, Mass at 6:00 pm, then going to my husband's uncle's for a big party with all of my in-laws plus a bunch of friends from town. Christmas Day will be chilling at home in the morning while the kids tear apart the house, then breakfast at my in-laws, then off to my hometown (15 minutes away) for dinner and such at my aunt's with my dad's family, then possibly an appearance at my grandma's in the evening with my mom's family. Then home for much sleep. In theory. I'm excited for tonight - I told the kids we would all get in our pajamas and grab blankets and drive around town to look at Christmas lights.

I mean, I do like buying gifts too 😛 Although my wallet doesn't! But Christmas on the whole doesn't mean much for me, I'm not religious, so it's more just a tradition type holiday. I do play lots of board games during Christimas time, especially with my dad and brother, but we play board games almost every time I visit them, that part is a lot of fun! Or we play cards with my family. Man, I am French Canadian! That's why New Years is a big deal, it's a more important holiday for the French people than it is for the English over here, not sure why, again, just tradition.

Not to be Debbie Downer but I think I've had the worst Christmas yet, achievement!

One of my friends believed I had not been supporting her enough through a hard time she was going through this year. Her way of dealing with this was to text me 2 days before Christmas and tell me I was not to come to the NYE party that everyone in my group of friends were invited to, and that our friendship was over. Unfortunately I've not had the best time this year myself, and this didn't help matters.

I'm ready to become a hermit.

Sorry to hear this, yeah that is terrible timing, your friend should have put that off until after New Year if she/he felt like that. You should still go to the party I mean I assume that your other friends still want you there.

You always have a friend in me just so that you know.

She's hosting the party at her house so I definitely can't go. It's a bad time of year to feel left out.

Thank you 🙂

This Christmas was nice 🙂 lazy. Really didn't do much but I did get the "Demons of the Hellmouth" by Rupert Giles, book which is so cool. Also got a shirt that says, "I am the slayer" with two crosses making an 'X' that book may be my favorite thing I got this year though lol i'm sorry to hear your Christmas was so sad Bluebird :/ I wish it had been better.

Strange for me. It was in the mid-70's and had 2 inches of rain. Felt like I was sentenced to the state of Florida 🙁
