Your favorite friendship

I can't believe no one has mentioned Willow-Xander yet! Willow-Xander FTW! I love the small moments between them like Xander cracking Willow's "ingenious code" in Wild at Heart or them laughing about Cordelia ("Be my Deputy!") in Out of Mind, Out of Sight or "Big noise, scare monster, remember?" in Halloween.

Also, Willow-Buffy and Buffy-Xander. From those with less screen time I have a soft spot for Tara-Dawn. Xander-Oz was fun, I loved it that they didn't hate each other because of the fluke.

Buffy and Willow definitely! That's probably my favorite favorite
Also
Xander and Willow
Lorne and Fred
Tara and Dawn
Cordy and Wes
Wes and Gunn
Angel and Gunn
Angel and Wes
(I'm excluding angel and cordy cause I ship them but they definitely had the friendship thing going!)
Spike and Anya

Great thread idea!

I really like Spike and Dawn's friendship. They understand eachother, both being the underdog and "different" in a lot of ways.

The Mayor and Faith, while dysfunctional...there was real love there, I believe. The look on his face when he sees her lying in a coma...it touched me.

Spike and Angel. These two claim to hate each other, but will save each other without a moment's hesitation. There is so much baggage there, and so much history. There is so much we don't know about these two; their past, how they really feel about each other, what they've been through - but one thing is clear, these two love each other. No doubt.

Willow and Buffy - before everything went to Hell, that is. I love their scene when Willow decides to go to UC Sunnydale. Buffy is so happy. I believe, as is often the case, that these two naturally drifted apart - but that doesn't make the dissolution of their friendship any less sad.

Xander and Buffy, boy do I love these two. He admires her. She's his hero. He loves her like family. He'd risk anything for her. If ever there was a perfect friendship in the 'verse, I think it's this one.

Buffy and Spike. You knew I'd mention them, of course! These two have been to Hell and back together, they've used, abused, and come full-circle. They have been enemies, lovers, and finally, friends. They mutually respect, admire, and care for each other. They accept and embrace each other's flaws, and most importantly, believe in one and other's goodness. He is her "dark place", and she is his light and saving grace.

...and last but not least, Angel and Faith. They have something very rare; a complete and utter understanding of each other.

Xander/Willow I'm a sucker for life long friendships.

I also love Buffy/Willow, Gunn/Wesley, and Faith/Angel.

Giles/Xander. I think they grew close during season 4.

Dawn/Tara

Dawn/Spike

Anya/Tara

Gunn/Wesley

The Mayor/Faith

Angel/Fred

Angel/Wesley, Angel/Faith, and Angel Cordelia. These were the most important non-Buffy relationships in Angel's life. I'd consider them more important, but I doubt the writers or Joss would agree.

I also liked the Wesley/Gunn friendship, back when the were still friends.

A friendship that I've always loved to see is Spike/Willow. You can tell they like each other, and even care about each other. I know he's kidnapped her in the past and threatened to kill her, but I could actually see a connection there (well, not in that specific episode). Like when Spike tried to bite Willow and couldn't "perform", they had a little conversation, and it seemed like they understood each other.
I also think that if Buffy and Spike become a real couple, Willow would be very supportive about it.

Not much, but that's just Oz 😉 I was mainly thinking about when the two of them were talking during the whole Veruca debacle, the way they spoke to each other made it seem like it wasn't a one time event. They were very comfortable and honest with each other...maybe it's just me but I saw friendship in that.

YES! I have championed the Buffy/Oz friendship for quite a few years now for the reasons you have said and for some others.

My favourite is probably Angel and Faith's friendship for reasons I've shared lots of times, I won't bore anyone. I also really loved the Doyle/Angel friendship - I think it's incredibly poignant that Angel trusted him as he did in such a short space of time and for that I've always really enjoyed it.

I really like Angel/Wesley, but Xander and Willows friendship was by far the best from both shows IMO.

I liked Buffy/Willow (bff's!!!)
Willow/Xander (long time friendship)
Faith/Angel (never gave up on each other)
Wesley/Gunn (season 2 bromance!!)
Spike/Dawn (very big-brotherish toward her!)
Giles/Willow (the early years)
Darla/Drusilla (after Dru changed Darla, when they went on their killing spree)
Cordy/Dennis (if you can count a ghost!)

What I didn't get was that Xander never seemed to really have any "best bud" - a guy, I mean (of course him & Willow) - that's kinda unusual, isn't it? And I'd have thought he & Oz would have been more friends than they were... except for that whole Xander/Willow kissy-face thingy... 🙄

Buffy and Willow had a really sweet friendship that I always loved. They were there for each other in so many ways, I love when we got to see those little moments between them. I also think that Buffy and Tara had a really sweet friendship that I think could've evolved to become almost best friends if Tara hadn't died. Same with Anya and Andrew, they had a really sweet thing going on in the last episodes and complemented each other really well.

Cordy and Angel were amazing friends too, but since I really, really like Cangel as a couple, I see them in a different light most of the time. 😉

Oh, and the dynamic between Gun, Wesley and Cordelia! Oh my god, when they sing together when they're drunk and Angel has left them. That is probably one of my absolute best friendship moments in the show. 😀

I would have loved to see more flashbcks between Darla and Spike, after all, they did pillage Europe for about a century together (Along with Angelus and Dru). But I really would have loved to see more interactions with Darla and Spike. I also love Bufy/Oz because of her perky nature contrasting eith his laid back one, and I found Buffy/Tara's brief moments of friendship touching.
