During the summer when I was at my grandparents (they had DirecTV) I would watch S Club 7 in all its incarnations on Fox Family. I loved it at the time. Don't know if I could stand it now or not though. haha
 
After I posted that yesterday, I went on youtube and watched some old S Club 7 vids and fell back in love with them. I think I would watch their show if it were to come back on the air! Lol!
 
I thought I'd already posted here but obviously I haven't...until now 🙂

Here are the TV gems from pre-history when I was a lad -

Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons - pretty much anything Gerry Anderson produced in the 60s really.
Blue Peter - "Here's one I made earlier", "Get down Shep" etc.
Doctor Who - back in the day the sets wobbled, the effects were rubbish and the monsters were some blokes in rubber suits but the stories were wonderful.
Kids SF shows like the original Tomorrow People, Ace of Wands, Timeslip.

If truth be told I still watch a lot of kids TV, mainly on the kitchen portable while I'm cooking dinner, and I still love it 🙂
 
He-he, we've got same subject at our forum at work.
So, this should be an easy task to do:
1. Weird Science - it was catchy and unsimilar to what we've got in Post Soviet Society - Well, I was 13 than -so I do consider it 'as a kid'.
2. He-man. It was revelation! We were nearly obsessed with it.
3. Muppet-show.
4. Tales from the Crypt.. Of course!

Alas, I can't list here Buffy, for I'm only 2 years younger than SMG - so I wasn't kid when it was aired.
 
Maybe I overlooked it, but I don't think any of the 80's kids mentioned Jem. Was there not another girl on this board that wanted to be truly outrageous with pink hair?

I watched every cartoon I could watch as a kid. Not to mention soaps with my mom, all of the ABC daytime soaps, Knots Landing, Dallas and Falcon Crest.

And then there's wrestling. Macho Man Randy Savage was my fave as a kid, I used to hate Hulk Hogan, even tho every kid in the world was Hulkamaniac.

You are not alone! I watched Jem. It was one of the only cartoons that I watched. He-Man, Rainbow Bright and Ghostbusters were my other cartoons. I also watched Fraggle Rock. Mid-day, I watched soaps with my mom. I watched GH, Days, and Santa Barbara. At night, I remember watching Dallas and The Wonder Years. I also remember watching Golden Girls with my granny.

When I was a little older, we watched My-So-Called-Life and that show with the Dinosaur family. I also liked Saved by the Bell (I had a crazy crush on Slater) and Clarissa Explains It All.
 
I think I was also hooked on something called Alex Mack, or The Secret life of Alex Mack?? or something. She could ... turn into a puddle of liquid.. lol

Even if I did watched Jem, now I can't recall anything about it.. Maybe watched TV too much - by now everything went messed up in my memory..

Jem was awesome. She and her girl power rock band ran an orphanage of some kind. Also, Jem had this alter ego who solved crime or something. Ok. I'm not much with the memory, either.

They had Jem dolls that were a lot like Barbies. I remember Jem as being more multi-cultural than Barbie was at that time, so I liked to play with the Jem dolls along with the Barbie dolls so that they didn't all look the same. I mean, what was the point of playing with dolls who looked exactly alike? How could you tell one character from the other?

Anyway, I actually had my first encounter with racism through the Jem dolls. My favorite doll was one of the orphan girls from Jem. She was black. I liked her for her hideously 80s outfit of orange leggings with pink triangles all over them and an oversized T-shirt with a flamingo on it. I also liked her curly hair. I had bad taste in clothes, I guess, but I still maintain that her hair was cool. Thinking the other kids would like her as much as I did, I took her to kindergarten with me for playtime. The other little girls wouldn't let my doll play with their blond Barbie dolls. :-( That is probably why I remember Jem. Kinda sad, isn't it? The weird part is that this racism thing only seemed to apply to dolls. We had a little black girl in the class. She was allowed to play, but my doll wasn't. Weird.
 
Nope, can't recall anything, probably haven't seen it.
In our part of the world - racism ain't such big deal - we have other trouble -many good series reached us when I wasn't a kid anymore... :/

Oh, I recalled another the greatest series I was overwhelmed when saw and I'm still loving it: the whole Galaxy Express 999 thing!
I always was hooked on whole immortality thing. That idea of undying metal bodies, and the whole across-Milky-Way-in-a-train thing, those adventures, awww... A living dream!
We even wrote our own fan-comic with classmate during boring lessons 🙂 and after school too.

Jem was actually the alter ego of Jerrica Benton. She was a hologram cast by Jerrica's supercomputer, Synergy. And it was way more culturaly diverse than Barbie. The band was known as The Holograms. Only one out of the 4 Holograms was white.

The dolls were awesome because they had outrageous hair colors, like hot pink, lime green, purple and blue. They also came with their own cassette tapes of the songs the bands performed on the cartoon. They were awesome.

I still have two of my old dolls from childhood, the rest were lost in a fire. I've been collecting Jem stuff for 8 years now. Ever since I was introduced to Ebay.
