Your favorite type of Jossverse villain?

What do you mean by type? My favorite villain is between Glory and Angelus
 
Without a doubt, Angel/Angelus was, to me, by far the most diabolical villain that Joss ever came up with. This is, not just a bad guy, but THE bad guy, set on destroying the world as we knew it. Nothing particularly special about that, really, and he most certainly wasn't the most powerful opponent that Buffy would ever face. What made him so special, so difficult to defeat, and what cost Buffy the most to achieve that defeat was one unique thing. Buffy couldn't look at Angelus without seeing the man who she loved and wanted to spend her life with. She never felt that with the Master, Mayor Wilkins, Adam, or Glory. By the time that Dark Willow came along, she was obviously mature enough to handle the similarity of the situation, but for a 17 year old girl to have to kill her First Love, that must have seemed as though, in order to save the world, she had to destroy the most important thing in it. I would compare the shock of such an event to be almost comparable to Angelus or Spike suddenly regaining their souls, and it says a lot for Buffy, a teenaged girl, was able to retain as much of her sanity as she did.

Second on my list (I know that you only asked for the one worst, but I'm on a roll here) would be Glory, because she was the first opponent that she ever faced who was so powerful that she could have squashed Buffy like a bug, and probably would have, except that Glory saw her as the only way to find the Key. And, speaking of the Key, once more Buffy was put in the position of directly protecting someone who she loved from direct harm from the Big Bad.

I'm in agreement that Angelus was Joss' crowning achievement. Angelus is fascinating; wicked smart, cruel, and always waiting to break free from his other half.

Glory was great, too.

I guess I like the super-evil villians without any conscience and bordering on insane, lol.

But, my all-time favorite villian is probobly Warren. The fact he was human, and so evil, is a great mix.

Man, that guy annoyed me royally. Great villain though, went a bit too crazy in the end for my liking. Glory and Dru, though, they were already insane. That's why they make the best villains for me, personally.
 
What I mean by type, OhWow, is do you like a witty villain (The Mayor), a sadistic villain (Angelus), a villain with a personal grudge (Holtz), a villain who the hero had an emotional relationship with prior to the turn to evil (Angelus/Dark Willow), etc.
 
Oh I see..Well in that case I'd say that I like my villains crazy..Glory and Dru were great entrainment. And while people are talking about Warren..I just love the way the actor acts and I honestly cannot explain why I would like Tara's killer so much but he was just so pathetic and geeky yet he still managed to destroy a huge part of the gang ( even if he did it unintentionally) and he came fairly close to killing Buffy when he actually had the brains to use a GUN to kill her..like duhh? why are the other villains so bent on using old school King Arthur's sword and a freakin medieval crossbow...though I suppose a gun would be too easy huh?

Well got a bit off track there then...I just like my villains interesting, pure evil or maybe a bit of good intentions but a mind set on vengeance like Holtz
 
I always loved the mayor who often had this extremely friendly way even when being evil.
Also liked when he would quickly turn from the happy, funny mayor to being dead serious about something. That's brilliant.

Overall I like villains that have some humor though. At least on a show like BtVS.
Luckily I think most had that execpt Adam I guess. Which also makes him my least favorite big bad.

I prefered the first villains like Master or Angelus. They were more realistic as far as Btvs goes, compared to Gods and Super witches.
 
I liked Angelus for the reasons White Avenger stated, but I do think a good villain in the Buffyverse should also be witty like the Mayor.
 
Like most people I would have to say Angelus. I think the best Big Bad's were ones that you could sympathize with and had some charm and charisma to them, like Glory and The Mayor.
 
I agree with Caesar. All of my favorite villains have great charm and charisma. Lindsey, Lilah, Holland, Mayor Wilkins.
 
I like the darkly funny villains like Angelus, Alpha (from Dollhouse), Dark Willow and Spike when he was in the mood to be darkly funny.
