'Tis the season!

What are your favourite Christmas songs? Are they traditional carols, or do you like something done by a contemporary artist? I still like the classics done by a choir, but there are a lot of Christmas-y songs out there to be listened to! There are many I've come to enjoy in the season over the years (ok, I'm old...so deal): Springsteen's Merry Christmas, Baby and Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town stand out, as does the Eagles Please Come Home For Christmas. What do you like? Classic, or new? Actually, I found this one to be very amusing. It's sung to the tune of Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town.

I love alot of the good old christmas songs lol the classics... Joy to the world, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, Frosty the snow man, 12 days of Christmas, I'm gettin nothing for Christmas, We Wish you a merry christmas Rocking around the christmas tree...ETC

then agian and as sad as this is to say theres on Nsync song i love on the holidays... Its called Happy Holidays... i dunno the beat to it i love it lol
 
There's one...I think it's by a beatle, or something - So This is Christmas. I like that one. Has Christina Aquilera done a Christmas album? I'd buy that.

I'm a big traditionalist about Christmas carols and my favorites are Little Drummer Boy (brings back memories of making Advent wreaths) and Carol of the Bells. I also love Deck the Halls and Silent Night. Crushed Dead Boone posted a version of Carol of the Bells at A-D that was pretty cool, it's by a band called Thrice.

That's one of my favorite ones too! I did some googleing and it told me that the song is called Happy Christmas (War Is Over) and made by John Lennon.. If that's the one you mean.

Other than that I really like the swedish song "Gläns à–ver Sjö och Strand".
 
I made a mix CD of funny Chistmas songs one time. I don't remember it too well. I sent all the copies to buddies. I remember that one Mr. Garrison from South Park sings is on it. Oh, and of course, Santa Got Run Over by a Reindeer.
 
Gather round, for a little tale I like to call "˜H E double dungarees'

I was but a slip of the majestic echo that currently reverberates through the cosmos. My song incomplete.

"˜Slip', when translated into the southeast Mesopotamian dialect of Sumerian, reversed, and filtered into French removing all vowels, comes out as "˜wlf glfr'. And everyone knows that in the whistled language of Silbo Gomero, wlf glfr is actually an expletive used in Afrikaans, "˜Voetsak'. Afrikaans primarily being a derivative of Old Dutch informs us that voetsak is an expression of an age in one's life. 41 actually, give or take a decade. But as we reversed our slip when we translated it into French, we have to reverse it again, and voila! Slip=14.

My asshole skills not fully developed I was of the inclination to do "˜people' (Ha! People! Vermin really) favours when I was asked. One such rodent (we're very close really) told me he was working in a shop for three days and they needed someone else, and could I be the someone else. Now obviously working in a shop is beneath me, so my original reaction was to chuck my lunch and breathe into a bag. Once the spinning stopped, and I considered the monetary gain to be had (which actually wasn't much to be honest), and he convinced me that a hot girl worked in the shop, I accepted. What a sucker.

If you've got this far you should be wondering if I posted this in the wrong topic, right?

So, the music in the shop was from a tape, it had 3 Christmas songs recorded over and over. When one side finished they turned it over and the same 3 songs were on the other side. Again, and again, and again"¦..

I can assure you, at 14 I really wasn't a grumpy camper. Eight hours of the same 3 songs and I was about ready to take someone's head off. OH AND the "˜hot girl' was a COMPLETE BITCH.

Yes I did go back the second and third day. I guess you could call it stupid duty to a friend. Friends don't let friends be tortured alone. I was not an ass, not yet an asshole.

They played the tape all three days, it is a memory burned into my brain that no amount of drinking can block out. Which I did try. This just happens to be the same Christmas that I got so drunk one night my friends were pushing me around in a wheelbarrow.

In fact any song with christmas in its title makes me want to empty my head.

i like almost all Christmas songs/carols you can think of...'cept Hark the Herald...bad chieldhood experience.
i also like songs like Santa Baby, Last Christmas, All I want for Christmas...loads really, lol

lol, that's what I mean. It's probably the bleakest Christmas song ever written. It makes New York sound awful. So why do I think "Oh, I'd love to go to New York someday." when I hear it?
 
I'm not sure but if i were you [and i sometimes worry i might be] i'd put aside some of that money you get for being shouted at by Ipod owners and go check it out 😉

I know this great place to stay just off time square...
 
I have to say that I'm boycotting Holiday Music this year. One of my favorite radio stations around here has decided that they are going to play 24/7 Christmas Music from the day after Thanksgiving, up until the day after Christmas. Too much of a thing is bad...and just more than a little is much too bad for this. I'm sorry, but I'm all Christmas-jingled out.
