I have to say all our threads somehow become 'ships war. So I want to make one thread, with no wars, just tell us what is your favourite 'ship (just one please) and why do you love them. It doesn't matter when you fell in love with them or how, just tell us the reason 🙂

Bangel. The main reason I love them is because you can say, yes it was hard, and tough, sometimes sad, but behind all that you can say that it was beautiful and cute. And it's not over. When you see them together you feel that it's not over. And that is the second reason. They made me feel. And belive.

What about you?

Congrats on your award!
Ha, you already know how I feel the threads turning into ship wars 😀
My favorite ship....that is a very hard question because I have many that I love. Honestly one does not really stick out in my head. I admitt I am a spuffy, but that does not mean its my favorite.
Ok I'm going to take the plunge and pick one. Fresley.
Each time they had a scene, one that was even a little sad, I found myself balling my eyes out. They were adorable, perfect for eachother and we were constantly teased with scenes where their affection and love for eachother was evident. Wesley holding Fred as she died was heartbreaking, not only because the love of his life was fading before him but also because he and we knew that they never got a chance to truly be together. Then as Wesley was dying, we see Illyria as Fred saying good-bye to him. Holding him as he had held her. Again I was balling my eyes out. Some people were upset that Wesley went but I was just happy because he got to be with Fred. Their love story was so different than any of the others we see on both shows. It had a different tone than Buffy's relationships. And I love it for that.

Hmm. I'm gonna have to go with Dangel on this one. Because they know each other better than anyone ever will, and they're the only couple I can actually see ending up together. (Once Darla comes back to life)

Bangel, because they have real, eternal love. <3
Followed extremely closely by Willow/Oz (no idea what their couple name is xD)
I'm currently re-watching Buffy and I'm on S2, and watching Willow & Oz fall in love is just so cute 😀
They're really good for each other, it's sad he had to leave

Spuffy

Because they had such great chemistry even when they were enemies. Because they are hot together. Because their relationship developed and grew and changed and adapted. Because it persisted despite their issues. Because they both became better people because of the other. Because even though she may or may not know that he is alive we are still discussing the implications of this unresolved story. Because their story is not over.

May 2010 be the year of a Spuffy reunion (in some way, shape or form!)

Xanya. Like you didn't know that already. They made each other grow up, so much; if you look at Xander and Anya in season 3; Xander was still immature, and had no clue who he was, Anya had just become human and was completely bitter and had no clue what to with themselves. Then cut to season six; they both had jobs, strong friendships with the Scoobies and lives together, despite the fact they were living above the Hellmouth and fighting demons on a day to day basis, they almost had a normal life. Anyone who says they weren't cute together, is a total liar; they have so many scenes of intimacy and romance, yet at the same time they have such hilarious on screen moments, too. Amongst all the couples in the 'verse I think Xander and Anya were the most normal; and I think in season six, especially, the other Scoobies were jealous of them. And who wouldn't be, they had the whole package. Even post-Hells Bells, even after Xander had left Anya at the alter, there was still so much chemistry between them; they were still in love (See Storyteller, if you don't believe me 😉), and I think out of any couple in the Buffyverse; they had the strongest, most interesting relationship.

I'm gonna shock everyone here and say Tillow. Throughout their time together, even during the time of their separation in Season 6, there was never any doubt whatsoever that they truly loved each other. Even in Season 8, I seriously doubt that there would be more than a dozen people who would be in the least bit surprised if Willow were to leave Kennedy for Tara if she should ever somehow return. Probably not even Kennedy.

OK, OK, I know I've already said Dangel, which I love, but recent events have persuaded me to change my decision.

Now, normally, I would go off about how much I love Spuffy, and how Spuffy is the best couple on t.v. (Because, IMO, it is), but this time I think I'll go a bit differently. Although Spuffy could easily be described as the most detailed, layered, deep, and passionate couple on the show, I kinda feel as though their time is done. True, I still hope for them to eventually have a confrontation, preferable leading to passionate kissing 😀, but if not, that's OK too.

So I'll choose Spangel. These guys have been friends since the beginning. They're relationship was... challenging, and often extremely competitive, but they always stayed on good and complimentary terms with each other. Angelus taught Spike the ways of vampirism, and Spike eagerly learned, both pleased for a male companion. Continuing forward to the 1940's, they were stranded on a ship together. Even if he didn't want to, Spike always did what Angel asked him to, which was very cute. 🙂 Although Angel could've, he never killed Spike, even though Spike had killed some of the marines.
Moving onto School Hard, Spike knew Angel well enough to figure out he had a soul. When Angel lost his soul, he soon went back to live with Spike and Dru, which gave him and handicapped Spike plenty to bicker over. Skipping further along, we get to my favorite Buffyverse season ever: AtS S5.

In this season is the main reasons I love Spangel. As shown at the end of Damaged, they both really understand each other, and live extraordinarily similar life paths. They'll quarrel over anything (A Hole In The World), which turns both of them into the funniest characters on the show ("You just want it to be the way you want it to be." "It's not about what I want!"). But as soon as something important happens, they instantly start working together, easily able to communicate with each other without speaking. Spike is definitely able to bring more emotion out of Angel than anyone else, considering that Angel is a rather broody character. They both remember everything from their pasts, and are comfortable talking with each other about anything. They seem to be fine with holding hands (And judging by context they've done it before) and have apparently been intimate before. Also, it's obvious that they really care about each other throughout it all, and Spike actually said in Angel S6 that he cares about Angel.

In conclusion, I'd say they have the best and most real mutualistic love/ hate/ frenemy relationship on the show. 😀

You've won me over. I agree that Spangel is my favourite and by far the most interesting relationship in the 'verse.

I love everything you'd said here.

As much as I will always love Spuffy, I must admit that it was a very tough decision for me choose my favorite 'ship.

My top contenders for runners-up are definitely Tillow, Fresley, and of course, Spangel.

Tillow. I agree with what WA said. Tillow was beautiful. If I believed in soul-mates (and sometimes I think I do) I'd say Willow and Tara were definitely meant to be together. They just had a connection that was undeniable.

Fresley. What can I even say? The buildup was long and difficult. Forever it seemed like Fred had no idea Wes was into her. She was too caught up with Angel, then Gunn, then Knox...then well, she died. And they never got their chance. For me, there's almost something tragic and beautiful about the two never really having a real go at it; we can always imagine them the way they were, as eternal soul-mates pulled apart by fate. 🙂 Like R & J or T & I.

Spangel. Let's face it, the very idea of them is just so dynamic and HOT, HOT, HOT. I love their snappy, argumentative banter. They have such a rich back story...so much baggage...the options for fan fiction with this "couple" seems almost endless.

Honorable Runner-Runner Up goes to Dangel. Angelus/Souless Darla that is. It never really "worked" with them when she was human and he had a soul. They made a gorgeous couple. 🙂

Ahh, I agree with everything here!
It will always be Xander/Spike! 🙂

I'm starting to dig the idea of Buffy/Xander these days, something I've never thought it'll happen. Also, I enjoy reading Xander/Giles fics.

(Someone is going to shoot me for my pairing choices. LOL) 🙂

Well, to each their own. ;)
I'll admit it, I kinda love Spangel. While Bangel remains my supreme OTP, if I had to choose a second it would be Spike/Angel.

They can go from being the most hilarious pairing ever to being the most touching. They have literally been everything to each other so the scope for their relationship is amazing.

If you are on LJ you should check out girlpire's stuff, especially Friday. One of the best Spangel canon fics.

I agree. 😀

My number one couple will ALWAYS be Spuffy however, for obvious reasons. They're so much to their relationship. I could watch every scene with them together a hundred times and my analyses still wouldn't be completely accurate. They're the most passionate couple out there, and there's more to their relationship than any other. Bangel is OK I guess, but it's all a bit too two- dimensional: They meet, instantly are attracted to each other, fall in love, cue to the dramatic angst. Spuffy is so much more. It really reminds me of the song "iris" by the goo goo dolls, actually. I can't even really describe why I love it exactly. They're everything I've ever wanted in a couple and more. They have the love, the passion, the fun, the understanding. They're a couple that could last. They're the most integral people in each other's lives. It's just... amazing. Very metaphorical, and incredibly intense. I have a very hard time believing that Buffy loved Angel more than Spike, because Spike and her have so so so much more than her and Angel ever will. Touched was, like, the most beautiful love scene ever. It's great how they showed that even though they spent the majority of the previous year sleeping together, that was the closest they'd ever been. It really showed how much trust and love was in their relationship, something Bangel never had. As Hercules Strong said "Spike has earned Buffy's love in ways Angel couldn't contemplate." Or as Jane said, "I like the romance with Spike better. I'm more interested in the heat between those two characters because I felt Buffy and Angel had romantic love. Spike and Buffy have something so much more complicated that it's got that romance and all this other stuff on top of it which makes it so interesting for me."

Then Spangel of course as I've previously explained, then Dangel, then Tillow, and after that it's a whole big mess of ships that I enjoy. 😀

As for Tillow, I agree with what WA said. They were really the essence of love for the show. Xanya, which I love, had the bickering married couple love. Bangel had the romance. Spuffy had the passion. And Twillow and the love. One of my favorite love quotes EVER is Hush's "I'm definitely nothing special." "No you are." Because that's what real love is all about. Being with that other person makes you feel happy, special, beatiful, and complete. They were best friends, and thay hardly ever fought. They treated each other well and with respect, and they acted appropriately in their relationship. It wasn't crazy dramatic like most of the 'ships; It didn't have to be. There was so much love there.

After that, I guess I'd say Illyria. It's definitely one of my favorite Spike-centric ships, although I love any ship involving Spike. Like Sparla, for example. I've always been curious about their interactions.

But as for Spillyria, I think it's pretty cute, funny, and interesting, and I wouldn't mind it being canon, but I'd prefer Spike being with someone else, just because I don't think that they could ever really love each other romantically. I still love it though. 😀
