Your favourite 'ship?

I agree. 😀

My number one couple will ALWAYS be Spuffy however, for obvious reasons. They're so much to their relationship. I could watch every scene with them together a hundred times and my analyses still wouldn't be completely accurate. They're the most passionate couple out there, and there's more to their relationship than any other. Bangel is OK I guess, but it's all a bit too two- dimensional: They meet, instantly are attracted to each other, fall in love, cue to the dramatic angst. Spuffy is so much more. It really reminds me of the song "iris" by the goo goo dolls, actually. I can't even really describe why I love it exactly. They're everything I've ever wanted in a couple and more. They have the love, the passion, the fun, the understanding. They're a couple that could last. They're the most integral people in each other's lives. It's just... amazing. Very metaphorical, and incredibly intense. I have a very hard time believing that Buffy loved Angel more than Spike, because Spike and her have so so so much more than her and Angel ever will. Touched was, like, the most beautiful love scene ever. It's great how they showed that even though they spent the majority of the previous year sleeping together, that was the closest they'd ever been. It really showed how much trust and love was in their relationship, something Bangel never had. As Hercules Strong said "Spike has earned Buffy's love in ways Angel couldn't contemplate." Or as Jane said, "I like the romance with Spike better. I'm more interested in the heat between those two characters because I felt Buffy and Angel had romantic love. Spike and Buffy have something so much more complicated that it's got that romance and all this other stuff on top of it which makes it so interesting for me."

Then Spangel of course as I've previously explained, then Dangel, then Tillow, and after that it's a whole big mess of ships that I enjoy. 😀

As for Tillow, I agree with what WA said. They were really the essence of love for the show. Xanya, which I love, had the bickering married couple love. Bangel had the romance. Spuffy had the passion. And Twillow and the love. One of my favorite love quotes EVER is Hush's "I'm definitely nothing special." "No you are." Because that's what real love is all about. Being with that other person makes you feel happy, special, beatiful, and complete. They were best friends, and thay hardly ever fought. They treated each other well and with respect, and they acted appropriately in their relationship. It wasn't crazy dramatic like most of the 'ships; It didn't have to be. There was so much love there.

After that, I guess I'd say Illyria. It's definitely one of my favorite Spike-centric ships, although I love any ship involving Spike. Like Sparla, for example. I've always been curious about their interactions.

But as for Spillyria, I think it's pretty cute, funny, and interesting, and I wouldn't mind it being canon, but I'd prefer Spike being with someone else, just because I don't think that they could ever really love each other romantically. I still love it though. 😀

This is. The. Best. Post. EVER. 🙂

I agree with everything you've said, except regarding Spike/Illyria. I definitely don't ship Spike with everyone (although he does have the capacity to have chemistry with everyone) only Angel and Buffy.

There are some ships involving Spike I just am NOT into; mainly Spander and Sprusilla. The reasoning for the firs tone if that honestly, I just don't think they make a very "pretty" couple. For me, Spike belongs with someone equally as good-looking. Like Angel. Or Buffy. I don't like Sprusilla because I don't think she treated him very well. She slept with Angel behind his back, and cheated on him with others. They are great fun to watch together, though. He was so sweet to her.

Anyway, I do like the idea of Darla/Spike, though. Everyone looks good with Darla. 😉

Actually, lately, I've been thinking about about Fred and Spike. I have been watching some Season 5, and I realized I really liked their connection. She believed he was worth saving, and he obviously felt affection towards her. I don't think it was romantic, so I can't really ship them, but I think the possibility might have been there, if she hadn't been so in love in Wesley. Plus, if Spread was my thing, it would be in conflict with Fresley, one of my fav ships.

Now that I think about it, Spuffy and Spangel conflict too. *sigh*
Well, I'd be happy if Spike were involved with Buffy or Angel, for that matter. But I guess Illyria would be alright.

I just could never warm up to Illyria. I don't know why. I don't dislike her, as a character concept she's interesting...I just, I don't know. Maybe I should read ATF.

They can go from being the most hilarious pairing ever to being the most touching. They have literally been everything to each other so the scope for their relationship is amazing.

That's also a pretty accurate description of Spuffy.

(And people say Bangels Anonymous would never work!!)

No it's not! Spuffy is anything but hilarious and they sure as Hell haven't been everything to each other.

You're stretching old man! 😛

How can you say that Spuffy isn't hilarious when you've been laughing at it fir years? And at my age, stretching is the only way to cope with arthritis.

You're just entering the second stage of Bangel withdrawal: aggressive denial. We've still got a long road ahead, but we're making progress. I'm proud of you, Miss K.

As WA said, that's pretty much the exact definition on Spuffy. They could be arguing and fighting over something like in S4 and S5 which makes them funny, and then they have the touching moments like in "Touched." (Which is pretty ironic 😀 ) I've never thought Bangel was funny or particularly touching before, however. I've always thought it was pretty two- dimensional, overdramatic, and flat. Also, they haven't been very many things to each other: Only lovers and enemies. They've never been friends, acquaintances, allies, or anything like that. It's Spuffy that went through the everything: Enemies, allies, acqaintances, friends, sexual partners, then best friends and lovers. 😀

I agree with everything you've said, except regarding Spike/Illyria. I definitely don't ship Spike with everyone (although he does have the capacity to have chemistry with everyone) only Angel and Buffy.

Like Darla, I can just see Spike's personality going well with anyones. Like a shy, sweet girl i.e. His sarcastic behavior would make her start acting more confident and a bit ruder, which would be amusing. 😀 Or a tough, sarcastic girl that matches him personality wise. He'd probably be really impressed. I can see her totally dissing him then walking away. Spike would be like "whoa" and would chase after her. Fun... 😀

Yeah, that's something I forgot to comment on. I've always really loved Sprusilla when Spike's soulless. They're so evil together, and Dru, as shown in Crush, makes him so BAD. It's pretty hot. 😀

Spander is OK. I wouldn't want it to be canon, but it has some really fun moments. One being in Intervention when Xander described Spike as being "Spike is strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well-muscled." Another being in Gone when Xander was TOTALLY eyeing up shirtless Spike. Not that we can blame him. 😀
Anyway, I do like the idea of Darla/Spike, though. Everyone looks good with Darla.

My thoughts exactly. 😀

Actually, lately, I've been thinking about about Fred and Spike. I have been watching some Season 5, and I realized I really liked their connection. Yes, yes. 🙂 I agree, Spread was pretty cute. 🙂 I don't really ship it though, because it seemed a bit too SWEET. Fred herself was a sweetheart, and she made Spike a lot softer and nicer. If it was canon, it may have been a bit boring. Plus, as you said, I also love Fresley. Maybe, if Fred hadn't died, she could've gone kinda S6- Buffy after Wes died. I can imagine THAT being interesting. 😀

Now that I think about it, Spuffy and Spangel conflict too. *sigh*
Well, I'd be happy if Spike were involved with Buffy or Angel, for that matter. But I guess Illyria would be alright.

Same, same. 🙂

I just could never warm up to Illyria. I don't know why. I don't dislike her, as a character concept she's interesting...I just, I don't know. Maybe I should read ATF.

I'd definitely recommend it. 😀 The Spillyria is great, although it's mostly just friendship.

As for Illyria, I've always loved her. She seemed so distant, so cold, so interesting. And the way her emotions were making her more human was cool. Also, she's SO powerful, and I really respect all the powerful characters. I'd say I love her more than Fred. Fred's a darling and I love her to pieces but we needed something new and Fred was a tad too soft and perfect.

This is random, but something I found really amusing in terms of Joss was how he said in the A Hole In The World commentary "I thought it'd be really funny to kill Amy (Fred)." 😀

Yet unlike Spike and Angel Spuffy never went through mentor, parent, childe. So, they really haven't been everything to each other.

Bangel aren't funny but neither are Twillow so I don't see how that is an indictment of their compatibility or affection. And since we are comparing, Bangel have quite clearly been enemies, acquaintances and to say they are not touching is ludicrous as is saying they have never been allies. Actually Bangel were more then allies, they were equals and that is something that they only share with each other.

Twillow wasn't funny? With all of the whispering and giggling that they did. They were so full of fun, they were positively joyous.

Gah, I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about Bangel. 😀 Spangel- wise, I agree. 🙂

It isn't. 🙂 But Tara and Willow are both very soft, sweet, and gentle people. Their relationship is bound to reflect their personalities. Either way, the amusement that Spuffy has is just one of the reasons that people love the ship. They're pretty funny people together, and that is shown when they're together. Also, Buffy has said many times that she relates with people through meanness and violence, so... yeah. 😀

And since we are comparing, Bangel have quite clearly been enemies, acquaintances and to say they are not touching is ludicrous as is saying they have never been allies. Actually Bangel were more then allies, they were equals and that is something that they only share with each other.

I wouldn't say that they were ever acqaintances. They pretty much claimed to be in love in the 3rd episode they were seen together in. 😀 It was, although horribly cliche, love at first sight. I can't think of a time when they were ever actually allies, and the writers have said before that Spike "was, in many ways, her counterpart." Not Angel. She and Angel had incredibly different personalities. And I wouldn't say they were equals, it seemed like the other was always trying to be in charge.

They may have been touching at times, but since I avoid "Bangel seasons" (1-3) I must've forgotten. Could you give me a few examples? 😀

I'm gonna throw a curveball here, just to be difficult😉: not a 'ship in the romantic sense, but the chemistry between the original four (Buffy, Willow, Xander, Giles). They go through so much together, none of them are perfect, at some point each of them does something that hurts the others individually or as a group, but they are forgiven. The scene with the four of them in the hallway in Chosen right before the big battle is a guaranteed get-all-choked-up moment for me. Their collective relationship is the core of the whole show, and is deeper and stronger and more eternal than any of the romantic relationships they get into individually. They love each other despite their flaws, and Will and Xander basically gave up their lives from high school onwards in the name of a higher calling--helping Buffy, fighting evil. Giles had no reason to stick around once his official watcher duties were ended, but he loved Buffy as a daughter. I could go on and on about the dynamics between the individual pairings but I'll shut up. That's my answer "Bwilgilder" is my favorite 'ship. 🙂

That's what I always say.
The friendship between the core four beats any other relationship.

Great friendship is always more interesting to watch than any romantic relationship.

Pretty much up until the episode 'Angel' Buffy and Angel are acquaintances. They don't know each other apart from a select number of brief meetings. What else would you call them?

From their first meeting in the alley when he gave her the cross Angel established himself as her allie. Repeatedly he turned up and offered information and any other assistance he could give her (and Giles). He patrolled with her, he trained with her, he fought by her side. When he left he still remained an allie. Coming to Sunnydale when Doyle had his vision of her in danger and again in season 7 providing her with the info and the amulet which were crucial to her success in beating the first. And that is just on the slaying front. Emotionally Angel has always been the person that she could rely on. During seasons 1-3 he was THE person she went to for emotional support. When things got truly bad it was his shoulder she could lean on. When he leaves he still offers that emotional support at crucial moments for her i.e. Yoko Factor, Forever and the place in the middle where they meet. If you don't call that allies, I really don't know what is.

They may have been touching at times, but since I avoid "Bangel seasons" (1-3) I must've forgotten. Could you give me a few examples? 😀

Buffy's little rant when she thinks Angel has read her diary.

Buffy breaking down in Angel's arms when she grinds the Masters' bones.

When Angel is captured by Spike and Dru and the church is burning down and Buffy cradles Angel in her arms, just stroking his face, telling him everything is gona be ok.

Every second of 'Surprise' but expecially the morning before scene and "Just kiss me" scene.

The last 5 minutes of Becoming. (If that doesn't tug at your heart strings...you have no heart!)

The end of Beauty and the Beasts where Angel has been absolutely rabid for the entire episode until he finally recognises Buffy, her's is the first word he says and the two of them just cling onto each other for dear life.

The Cliff top scene of Amends

Angel arriving at the Prom

"I'm talking about watching my lover die". Buffy refusing to let Angel die and the gaze they hold at the end of Graduation.

Every millisecond of IWRY.

Buffy clasping Angel's hand at her mother's grave side.

"It's Buffy". Angel's face when realisation hits him.

"I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life".

Of course they are just for instance 😉

Great moments of Bangel! good for you!
FRESLEY FOREVER! THEY WILL ALWAYS DOMINATE OVER BANGEL.....AND MAYBE ONCE IN WHILE EVEN SPUFFY.
I've already posted my reasons. 🙂

*runs away giggling*

It never seemed allie- ish to me, but I guess you're right. 😀

Hahahahaha I guess I'm heartless, because I never felt a thing. 😀 I don't like Buffy seasons 1-3 (and kinda 4) and I don't like Angel when he's with Buffy, so those things don't have any affect on me. 🙂

They'll probably dominate over Spuffy, but over Bangel, not in your wildest dreams hun

Mhm. Girl, Bangel is HISTORY! 😀

And sorry for turning this innocent thread into a shippers war Tajana. 😀

Bangel is never going to end! And you know that everyone like 'ship wars :)
Yeah Lindsey and Angel. If you imagine Lindsey is secretly into Angel from the first episode, it makes all their scenes so funny. Lindsey basically wants Angel.
