Ah music topics , i always enjoy bringing these up even though its my first time posting one on this forum.

What types of Music do you guys enjoy listening to ? 🙂


Well for me i enjoy various styles and sub genres mostly Electronic Music such as Progressive House , Deep House , Funky House , Progressive Trance , Deep Trance , Ambient , Lounge , Breakbeat , New Age , Jazz and some Techno.

I also enjoy various classics from the 70's , 80's and 90's and early 2000's , I am not so much of a follower with today's general music simply because its not really my kind of thing but i do hear the odd tune i may like though even though that's rare nowadays to me.

A majority of the artists and producers that i listen to are very unknown , I be more than happy to list some artists and post some links here if you guys want to know what artists i listen to 🙂
 
Most of what I listen to would be described as classic rock, but I also listen to bits and bobs from other genres as well and quite a lot of classical music.

Through the 'What are you listening to?' threads on here I have been introduced to some artists that I have not heard of or would normally not give a chance but have thoroughly enjoyed. Alabama Shakes and Beach House being the most recent finds.
 
I'm going to be the weird one for this I'm sure, but I'm a huge fan of what you'd call red dirt country. I like a little of everything. Seriously, nobody had a cd collection more colorful than mine, but if I had to pick one genre to listen to for the rest of my life, red dirt would be it lol
 
I listen to lots of different types. In general, I just like music that bands (or orchestras) can play live.

My favorite band of all the bands out there is Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden are kind of an exception, because I don't listen very much to other bands like Maiden. I don't like Metallica or Black Sabbath (that doesn't mean I dislike them). Metal isn't my favorite music genre, but I do like some metal bands very much, for example, Maiden, Pantera, Anthrax, Primal Rock Rebellion, Overkill and Motörhead (if you want to call them 'metal').

My main section is more like Rock and Blues. I like AC/DC, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, (old) Guns N' Roses and Slash, Aerosmith, Billy Idol, Foo Fighters and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
I also like Funk and Soul. One of my favorite singers is Bobby Womack and I like Sam & Dave, Otis Redding and The Blues Brothers as well.

And I love movie scores! My favorite composer is John Williams (Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Jaws). That man is a god. Besides him, I like Danny Elfman's scores (Batman, Spider-Man), Bernard Herrmann (Psycho, North by Northwest), Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers) and some of Hans Zimmer's stuff, especially the new Batman movies. I also like his Inception score, although I think that the movie is really overrated.

Well, yes, that's my taste in music in a nutshell, you might say 🙂
 
I love Indie music, pop music (I live and breathe pop music) and R&B

I just got into Indie music when I've been listening to Sky Ferreira, Marina and the Diamonds and Lana Del Rey!

Mainly Rock music of all types from Goo Goo Dolls to Marylin Manson. I also like some classical styles from Alessandro Safina to Jonathon and Charlotte. I also love some pop country like LeAnn Rimes. I like Musicals as well and love movie soundtracks like Moulin Rouge and Rock Of Ages. I've also been known to love some jazz and ratpack music.
 
My definite favourite genre is rock with my favourite band probably being 3 doors down! I love bands such as Goo Goo Dolls and Lifehouse. Black Stone Cherry, Stone Sour and Breaking Benjamin are current favourites. As well as Halestorm...saw them live on Sunday actually they were incredible! I would be here all day listing the songs and bands/artists that I like.

I'm also a fan of folky stuff like of monsters and men, country stuff - new favourte being The Band Perry. I also don't mind some charty stuff, it's easy to listen and dance to when on a night out but wouldn't necessarily have them on my ipod!

I listen to everything under the sun. Seriously. 😛 I don't think that there's one genre that I don't like.....(okay, maybe Opera). My main genre of music is alternative rock, with Red Hot Chili Peppers being my all time favorite band, and John Frusciante being my favorite guitarist and solo artist. I swear his music's like oxygen to me. 😀 I'm very big on classic rock and classic soul music. Most of my musical library is from the 90's, 80's, and 70's. I also enjoy pop music (was raised on Britney and N'Sync), metal, hip hop, R & B, country, techno, house, and reggae. Beauty can be found in all genres, and I just find it very limiting to listen to one type. That would be one boring world.
 
I'm a very musical person, I'm quite passionate about it so I listen to all types and don't turn my head to a good peice of music no matter who it's by, But I do have my favourite genre which is Rock/classic Rock and . I love heavy metal and nu- metal, Metallica, iron maiden, megadeth, slipknot, linkin park all them sorts of bands and I Love old rock bands like The Who and Thin lizzy.

I was once obsessed with the Grunge era, which introduced me to Nirvana who are to this day one of my favourite bands, kurt Cobain had something special which made nirvana so good and I dont think any grunge singer would disagree.

At the minute it's mostly folk (but NOT Mumford &Sons, can't stand them), rock and post-punk. The lo-fi minimalist stuff is ok too and I'm still obsessed with music like Sigur Ros and Frank Turner.

Always on the lookout for new music though. Went to Bestival not long ago and it was like nirvana in terms of the undiscovered music I found.

Bands I'm liking at the moment are Milagres, Django Django, First Aid Kit, Chris T-T, Biffy Clyro and Metric.

The kind of music that I enjoy defies categories like "rock," "country & western," "jazz," or ony of the other types, or, more accurately, I guess that you could say that it includes some, but not all, examples from all types. I like music with an understandable lyric that tells a story or celebrates the joy and happiness of life, pride in oneself or others, songs about bravery, loyalty, patriotism, and duty, and music that you can hum or whistle if you are so inclined. I don't like what passes for music that promotes hate, violence, or contains unnecessary profanity or belittles any person, sex, or race. And above all, I prefer the type of music that doesn't have to be uncomfortably loud to be enjoyed.

It also helps if the performer has genuine talent.
 
I love all kinds of music, mostly pop & pop/rock genres as well as some R&B. Britney is my ultimate favorite, she always has been & always will be. I admire her strength as a person & her creativity as an artist. I love that her music is meant to take you out of your head & is an escape from life's everyday problems. I think she is very underrated. My other favorite artists would be P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Avril Lavigne, The Script, Jason Reeves & Taylor Swift. I was also a huge fan of the Spice Girls when I was younger so I will always have a place in my heart for them & I'm a big fan of their solo music.
 
I like to think I have a broad taste in music. I also like to say I listen to bands rather than genres. But here are the genres that I think has some pretty darn good bands and artists belonging to them:

Favorite type? No such animal as music categories in my case. I will pretty much listen to anything from almost any genre or subgenre if I like the way it sounds to me. It could be the many forms of Rock and Metal, Jazz, World Music, R&B, Techno, Electronica, pretty much anything. Even Opera or Country, if it's nice. I will even listen to music from past eras of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Real music back then. **sigh**

Somewhat obscure urban subgenres of music from my teen years in the eighties such as *Electro* and *Latin Freestyle* continue to be faves of mine even today.

I tend to avoid Hip-Hop or Rap, though, but I will make exceptions to that as well, especially if we are talking about Old School Rap or Hip Hop. The modern stuff just doesnt really do it for me, to be honest.

I love a lot of alternative rock and indie music.

Though it generally varies. I like all music genres except rap. I just don't get why it's so good :/
 
I like everything and nothing when it comes to genres. I like songs/artists and not genres. At the moment I seem to be in a classical mood. Or musical if you like.

In general though, I guess it's most pop and rock. Or 80's music. Don't underestimate nostalgia.

Seems like I am one of few that have a quite narrow taste in music.
Not that many band / artists gets my approval. 🙂

It's mostly 70's rock though. Guitar based music basically.
