Your Halloween Movie Marathon

For those of us who no longer dress up or go out for Halloween, we're all too familiar with how completely most TV and cable stations drop the ball with Halloween movie marathons.
I've often wondered, while looking at each year's disappointing list of Halloween viewing fare, what I would do differently.
I have to believe anyone with a love of horror movies could put together a better list than what the networks manage.

What would youyou choose for your 24-hour Halloween movie marathon? What sort of Netflix or DVD rentals would you bring together for your ideal Halloween night of viewing?

I for one like to go with the straight Horror, and I tend to go old school with my choices. No mixed-genre crap like we see these days.

But on occasion I make an exception to that rule, such as with this amusing Horror-comedy-spoof that I grew up watching every Halloween, entitled "The Halloween That Almost Wasn't (1979)" (aka, "The Night Dracula Saved The World").
Only a half an hour in length, but totally cheesy and fun parody of the Universal Studios monsters, and geared towards children.


The plot:

Upset by rumors that Halloween may end, Dracula calls his mild-mannered monsters together and delivers an ultimatum.....either regain their frightening image, or leave his Transylvania castle forever.

Before going out for Halloween me and my friend have list of movies we always watch.

It starts with "Nosferatu" with endless commentary from us 🙂 We love Klaus Kinski, his portrayal is spot on and hilarious at once
Then we move on to Disney classics "Hocus Pocus" is our favorite closely followed by "Casper the friendly ghost". After that we usually head out 🙂

Then two Tim Burton movies: "Ed Wood" and "Sleepy Hollow"...

and at midnight, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

First off I'm gonna watch a few of the Treehouse of Horror episodes (Halloween specials) from The Simpsons. I have the first 9 episodes, so I will be watching all of them.

Well it depends on if I'm having a movie night with my kids or for myself. LOL
For my kids, we watch "Casper", "Hocus Pocus", and "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad." For me, I watch the "Scream" trilogy, "Halloween", "Halloween 4", "Halloween 5", and the original "Amityville Horror".

I like to change it up and watch different movies each year. This year I am on a big Tim Burton kick so my sisters and I are planning on watching: "The Nightmare Before Christmas", "Sleepy Hallow", " Mars Attacks!" and "Corpse Bride".

I think I'd go with a list of complete classics that are easily found in my house:

They're all super easy to watch and I know almost every single word to every single one. Hardly classified as the scariest films in the world, but absolutely perfect for the camp enjoyability of Halloween 🙂

Wait, there is another version of "The Thing" besides the really old one titled "The Thing from Outer Space"

There's the old one from the '50s. It's based on a novel I think. Then John Carpenter (Halloween, The Fog) did a new version. Not a remake of the old movie, but a new movie based on the book.
And I think in November there will be a new one that's supposed to be a prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing, but to me it seems more like a remake (that shouldn't have been made).

But The Thing from '82 is awesome!
