Willow went through it. So did Xander, Buffy, Oz, and Cordelia. How about you? What kind of emotionally charged melodrama(s) did you ensure in high school? (Extra points if it involved a werewolf, a giant praying mantis, or a vampire!)

I'll keep mine as brief as possible:

In my freshman year, I saw this tall guy with long blond hair walking down the hall. I immediately fell in love. I found out he was in stage band...and also interrogated his two ex-girlfriends about him. They both said he was nice but very quiet, and a little shy. The chase was on! Soon, the entire school knew that I liked him. (I believe in broadcasting good news) And yes, he found out, which is what I wanted. Someone in his group of friends invited me to sit with them during lunch. Which I did, but OMG it was so uncomfortable! Everyone there knew I liked him, and I suddenly got shy. 😅 He kept looking over at me, and I'd sneek peeks at him...but it was just too crazy. I couldn't handle it, so I left. I hadn't counted on his friends making kissing noises every five minutes!

So, I planned my "love is war" strategy with a few buddies. Oh! Hang on...one more thing I HADN'T counted on was two of the varsity football guys approaching my intended, saying, "When's the wedding?" They told me afterwards because they thought it was funny. Noooooo!!! This was rapidly turning into a nightmare. But I wasn't giving up. I'd see him in the hall and he'd always look at me, like he was trying to figure out something. And he was always smiling. I could tell he liked me, but...oh God, what do I do?! Long story short, one day as I was walking down the hall, I saw him....with his arm around the shoulders of this short, unattractive troll in army pants. Like, a total skanky wannabe hippy. (I knew her, she was the older sister of a friend) Everyone knew she didn't shave her legs or her armpits...why was he with HER? The rest of the school year was basically me trying to avoid them both, because they were always kissing or something. I was completely devestated. On senior ditch day, he signed my yearbook (I'll never forget the words, not ever): "I know we didn't get together, and I'll always consider you a friend, but then again...? Have the best of times in your life. Love, Alan."

Fun fact: In 2014, I was on an alumni Facebook page of my high school and mentioned Alan. Two days later, Alan replied. He said he definitely remembered me...and he described the outfit I wore the day of that lunch fiasco. He told me that yes, he had really liked me but he'd been terribly shy, and didn't know how to approach me. Also, having nearly half the school suddenly know of him (because of little old me) kinda put him off a bit. So, I could've had him if I HADN'T told everyone I knew about him? 😨 I was gutted, yes, but I also realised that he and I had completely different personalities, and it wouldn't have worked anyway. Still, my 15 year-old self was so very, very sad.

What age range are we talking about here exactly? I need to clarify before I consider answering this thread!! LOL (sw)
I got nothing. I was the Jesse of my high school (except I never got vamped). A fat, pimply Jesse. *weeps*

Ahem. College was a lot better though.

Oh so you did get picked up by a Darla look-a-like? Lucky you.
I was like Willow in the sense that I fell in love with a boy who never noticed me. And that's it. Nothing happened.

Well only kind of a high school romance drama...
When was 15, I fell totally head over heels for my friends (6 years) older sister's bestie. She was in college. 😳 She was one of the koolest peeps I've ever known. She pierced her own nose and drove this old school red VW beetle. Plus she would (sometimes) actually hang out with 2 not so kool high school gals (friend's older sister wasn't so thrilled). Unfortunately she was very straight. 😏 Kissed her twice (cheek once and lips 2nd). Before she made it clear we could only be 'just friends'. 😩 She ended up moving to Cali 6 months later. 😒

For someone that went to a co -ed boarding school, I have very few in-school tales of romance. The real action started when we had finished school. I was 16/17 when the best stories started, which is still school age for some places. But since they didn't take place in actual high school, it would be off topic for this thread 😛

Well I'm currently 16, never been in a relationship, never kissed anyone and don't really want to. I don't think I would be very good in a relationship anyway.

Never been in a relationship/kissed anyone either. But I'm not 16 yet.
So at the beginning of sophomore year my bestfriend (a girl) moved away to another state. I told her on multiple occasions that when she moved that I was going to date her boyfriend. She thought I was joking. Well I wasn't... LOL.
As soon as she moved away I pretty much started seeing him. And man oh man was the joke on me.
That relationship was one hell of a roller coaster for 1.5 years.
We basically had zero trust, bad communication, and lots of sex. Our sexual chemistry was on fire, but our compatibility was pretty negative lol.
We fought all the time. I went through a lot of mascara from all the crying.
One time he texted me from someone else's phone pretending to be someone else. He didn't like how I responded so he dumped me. One month later we were back together.
I found out while we were apart he was texting his ex (diff one from my friend) quite a bit and she took it upon herself to personally harass me.
She finally left us alone and we worked that out, but back to fighting it was.
I then saw that he sent a dirty picture to this very large chick that was supposedly his friend. So I broke up with him. He cried and graveled and a few weeks later we were back together.
One day he and his step dad got into it really bad (his step dad beat him), as far as I could tell this was just an argument.
He wanted me to leave his house. He punched a wall and threw one of my shoes down the stairs. I needed to get back in his room to get my other shoe and he slightly pushed me. So I ended things again, but we got back together like a day later.
Things were back to our normal of fighting and sex.
But then my step dad basically told him to start treating me better or else.
Things actually were pretty good and stable for a while and we went to prom together.
Then after prom things were still good, we were just hanging out at my house and he saw a text from some guy trying to be dirty with me, but I wasn't back, but back in the day your inbox would keep like 100 messages while your outbox would keep 50. And well I was a texting Queen so I didn't have any outbox messages to prove that I wasn't being dirty back with this guy. So he broke up with me. I was devastated because we were finally in a good place and boom it was just over.
My mom got upset at how upset I was and she chased him around his house calling him a no good little boy coward lol.
So yeah after she did that, there was no getting back together this time.
Oh and during that relationship I slapped him Idk how many times.

And then a year later we had rebound drunken sex at my senior prom party while he and I both were sorta dating other people. I had to be drunk to sleep with him again lol.

In retrospect, Idk why I thought I was in love with him. I pretty much hated his guts but enjoyed having sex with him. So glad that relationship ended, too bad it wasn't sooner.
This is probably why I hate the Spuffy ship so much tho, bc I basically lived it (with a little less abuse) LOL.

Wow I'm glad I'm a different less selfish person than I was in high school.

Wow. Are you from Texas?
I went to an all boys school, for the first three and a half years an all girls school was being built next door and it was joined by a corridor to the gym. In the 4 months I was there when both schools were occupied I was only banned twice from the girls school.
The first time was for letting off a firework, (in those days you could buy fireworks from shops) and the firework was really loud and it echoed. Hence I got banned for three months and six swipes of the cane.
The second time was for wearing a black shirt in the girls school. The headmistress drained the life of expressive naturalistic values out of the pupils - that is a type of vampiric effect, right?
Admittedly I gained a bit of notoriety for being banned twice, not from our headmaster though.

PS genghisknan, add a tee hee on the end of the comment on your reply #9

Lol I once had a bf for a whole entire week in grade 9 (my only ever bf by the way). I broke up with him because he grabbed my butt 😂 my best friend then went on to date him and my other friend just married his brother last summer.

I also "practice kissing" my friend at a sleepover. God she was a bad kisser. She later kissed me at a party in front of THE school lesbian (yes we only had one, one that was out that is. I went to a small catholic school). I was still very much in the closet back then, and definitely had a crush on that girl. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened had I been out. Funny enough I kissed my friend again about 2 weeks ago and she's still a bad kisser.

My highschool experience pretty much amounted to kissing friends but never dating, it was quite boring. But coming from a small town meant that everyone dated everyone. You could not go out with someone who hadn't previously dated at least one of your friend.

Well my friends told me I was gay before I really knew it... or felt okay to admit it. One girl (didn't really consider her a friend) was like "just admit you're gay!".

In 7th grade, this new girl Natalie came into our class and she was absolutely stunningly beautiful to me- she's Italian & Puerto Rican. We became friends (I was friends with ALL the girls)... but I didn't get up enough balls to ask her to be my girlfriend until 8th grade... and she had a boyfriend by then. That was a bummer. And it didn't help that this other girl Lilah that I had a crush on told me to drop dead when I asked her out (she made up for it though years later; she danced with me at a semi-formal).

Freshman year I tried dating this girl Tristan but... I was gay and I just didn't want to even kiss the girl.. let alone have sex. So I went through sophomore year and junior year in the closet and rather miserable inside- those were the worst years of h.s. and probably of my life. I went to a very small school and everyone knew each other so that was good in a way but also bad because everyone knew your business. And even though I was a social butterfly and friends with everyone- popular and unpopular, boys and girls... there were still bullies. A couple guys in particular were total jerks to me. One picked me up in the locker room and slammed me into the lockers for no reason other than I think to show his dominance or something- I'm PETITE and when he realized that I wasn't trying to fight him, he felt like an jerk and just left me alone. Another bully pushed me over the edge one day that I just flipped out on him and told him to get a fuvk!ng life! He immediately stopped pushing me and never bothered me again.

By senior year, I tried to date a girl again (there were no other out gay guys...I couldn't even imagine being with a guy at this point).. but this girl Joy & I were just great friends. I loved her personality. We had so much fun together and laughed at anything and everything. I just wasn't sexually attracted to her... or any girl really. I remember we were at her house upstairs and she was trying to kiss me and her mom was calling us down, and I was like "oh you're mom's calling us".. I just wasn't into it. Eventually I had to just break up with her and I told my best friend I was bi.. it just sounded less scary than gay. I told a few more friends and word spread pretty quick. Joy asked me if it was true and I confirmed.. I remember the look on her face- a combo of about to throw up and just saw a ghost. Surprisingly though we remained friends. Not after high school though. I haven't spoken to her in years...and she has literally like 5 kids now. Part of me thinks she was gay too because her husband now seems like he could be gay (just from seeing him in pictures)...and she dated a guy after me that eventually came out as gay lol.. and her family was super "religious"... and were very anti-gay so if she was, she'd never be one to live openly as a gay person.

Cut to freshman year of college, I'm 18 and going out to the gay club for the first time with none other than Natalie! My first girl crush in middle school and my legit best friend. It was funny, this guy was trying to get with her and he said he had someone for me. He introduced me to this beautiful Bolivian/Puerto Rican man (he must've assumed I like the latin) and as cliche as it sounds, we fell for each other instantly. He is such an amazing man- he served overseas as a marine, is the first to help the helpless (yes I stole that from Angel), is now a NYPD police officer. He is so sexy & suave, sweet & fun... has a heart of gold but is also a total alpha man. He would leave me roses on my car windshield when I was in class... would always buy me Buffy stuff because he knew how much I loved it.. he would do the smallest, sweetest things and is so damn charming! He is the street smart and I am the book smart; I am a crazy flower child and he is Mr. Logical... we just compliment each other so well. And I truly believe he was the answer to my prayer to the universe to send me someone to truly love. For it to happen so soon after that, so easily and on my legitimate first night out, it felt like it was meant to be. We met in 2005, were married in 2011, and had the most amazing times together. I'm sad to say we separated last summer (long story).. but I still love him more than life and have hope we will get back together. I just need to find myself outside of him. He was so good to me and took care of me, I didn't do enough for myself.
To end on a happier note and bring it full circle, Natalie remains my best friend to this day and I just always found it funny that she ended up leading me to my husband, the love of my life.

I wanna grow my hair long like that. Hope your marriage works out, but I am sure you'll be able to find happiness again either way.
Well I'm currently 16, never been in a relationship, never kissed anyone and don't really want to. I don't think I would be very good in a relationship anyway.
It's ok I was a late starter too (it was only at uni I got anything resembling a love life and that took time) but non participation is also an option you don't necessarily need an SO to not be lonely.

My school was an all boys school upto the age of 16 and then there were girls for our final two years.

Just before ‘our girls’ arrived all the other boys were so excited and losing their minds over it, I was convinced I was not that bothered and thought it was kind of weird the way they were acting.

...but then I saw the most beautiful creature I had ever seen in my entire life and I was hopelessly in love. It turned out that she thought I was very attractive too and we were always going on long walks and snogging each other’s faces off. I was quite shy and I have to say I probably didn’t offer all that much personality having learnt my wooing technique from the brooding one himself. So she had to settle for a lot of smouldering looks, it actually worked amazingly.

After a few weeks of this i refereed to her as my girlfriend. Big mistake! I knew that she was a Christian but I hadn’t realised how seriously she took her faith (no sex before marriage etc) and I didn’t fit the criteria for a potential partner in her eyes. It was all very forbidden love Bangel-y.

Well, I have never been in a relationship or kissed anyone yet (am younger than 16). But I had a crush once. (Pretty recent story)
So here the story of my first and only crush (yet)...

When I first met her, I just knew I wanted to be friends with her because she was so cool. Guess what! It worked! She became one of my close friends. We were a group of 6 friends who'd always hang out together.
That was it for 2.5 years, just good friends.
I could have realized it a bit earlier, because there were some signs. Like I found her absolutely hilariouse, but it's true she is really funny. And once she and an other of my friends showed me a dance they had been practicing, objectively speaking I think they both did it good, but I was so focused on her and thought the whole time how amazing she does that.
But then I realized how I always had to think about her, more than about my other friends. It took some time until I realized what my feelings were, because I had never been in love before that. I thought I had had some "crushes" on boys before, until I knew what it really felt like.
So there I was with the realization that I was in love with one of my best friends. (pretty common, huh? 😉) It was so hard being around her. Sometimes when I just saw her I felt so dizzy and sick and like I was gonna throw up. (lol sorry had to think of Dollhouse...)
13611
It was an emotional roller coaster, just seeing her. And everytime we sat close next to each other I feared we would touch, which I know would've been totally normal for her, but not for me. The hugging was the worst, because it was the best. It was so brief, but I never wanted it to end.

At first I was affraid to tell people, not because I have a problem with homosexual people or being gay, but because my parents are lesbians and some homophobic people who don't want homosexual people to have kids, use the argument that gay people will raise gay kids. Now I would be living proof of that 🙁
(I still struggle with that thought, although I know it's not heritable.)

She was a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries and we sometimes talked about BTVS and TVD together, I even made her like 6 or 8 fan videos, some about her favourite TVD couple, character and some BTVS/TVD crossovers, yeah she could have noticed that I was overacting a bit. (I sat many weeks on TOO MANY videos!!!)
My biggest dream at that time was watching Buffy with her 😍

At our student exchange in spain, her and a friend talked about how beautiful the spanish girls were, I told them that they are beautiful too (well, obviously meaning one of them especially)
Later I sat next to her in the bus. She was so tired that she fell asleep right next to me and oh my god, it was the cutest thing that I have ever seen!!!
On the next bus tour we sat next to each other again, but it was a different, a bit smaller bus. And I remember the whole situation to the smallest deatails, the words we said, the clothes we wore, everything. The seats were very close and it was impossible not to be so close to her, though I tried to move to the left (away from her). I knew it was going to be a long trip and I couldn't abide sitting so long, so close to her. For me it felt like this:
13612
(though we were sitting next to each other not facing us)
I looked at her and she was so beautiful, I looked away, but only knowing she was sitting so close was horrible and I could still smell her perfume.
I started crying, cause it was just too much for me. Well what I hadn't thought about was, that she would ask me why I was crying. She did. I said: "It's nothing." But clearly everyone noticed it was something. So I started with: "[Name] I have to tell you something." A friend (one of two, who knew about my feelings) who was sitting on the seat in front of us, was like "No you can't tell her!" And I said: "But I have to. I can't stand another day without her knowing it." (yes pretty melodramatic, I know.) Now my crush was pretty confused. I looked at her and she said: "You know you can tell me anything, right?" I nodded, I was shaking because I was so nervouse. I leaned over and whispered into her ear: "I love you." Then I looked down at my feet, not able to look back at her. But I know she smiled, I could hear it in her voice as she said: "But that's no problem, [insert nickname that all my friends call me]. You don't have to be so nervouse. Everything's okay. I am still your friend and I always will be." I was still shaking and sweating and she tried to calm me down, it didn't really work, but it was so nice she tried. Now I knew she wasn't upset and she was still my friend and that was the best I could have hoped for, cause I knew she was straight.

The time after that, when we were back in germany, was a bit awkward for me, though she behaved totally normal like nothing had happened. Our group of friends always hugged each other to say hello, so when she was about to hug me, I went to another friend to say hello. She understood and the next day she didn't hug me. I was reliefed that none of our other friends noticed, that we didn't hug anymore.

One time we had a school festival, so everyone dressed up nice and our school band (I played the base there) had to perform some songs. So we practiced and then she walked past our practice room, she looked breathtakingly beautiful (we have glass doors, so I saw her) I totally forgot the band and played complete trash. 😳
Gladly the band members didn't really care. 🙂

On a class trip, where we spent a lot of time together, I again couldn't bear it. I went into my room and started crying three friends followed me, two of them knew what I was crying about. I don't really remember why, but I wanted to tell the third friend too, probably because she was always so caring and I felt like she had to know it. So the two who already knew it stayed outside so no one went in the room while I told the third friend everything. She hugged me and then she told jokes and made other funny things so I'd laugh and forget the sadness, I'll never forget her that 🙂 It really helped.
Later the two friends who had been staying outside, told me that my crush had been there, because she heard me cry and that she wanted to come to me and comfort me, I was sad, but deep down really glad that they didn't let her in. Because I knew if she had been there I would have never stopped crying.

Sometime later she had a boyfriend and I was so sad (and jealouse).
I posted about it in this thread: This is me now....
Willow Tara said:
Me about the whole "having a crush thing" not only that my crush has a boyfriend (which 1. means... she has a boyfriend and 2. means she's straight... [so I'd be the wrong gender 😳] or she is bi. 😀) But also that she is one of my best friends, I mean I don't have the best friend but a lot really really good friends... she's one of them. 😕 So this is kinda me about that whole crush topic:

And then me (in my imagination) if I'd meet the boyfriend of my crush:

Then she broke up with him and I was glad. But well, still the same situation as before. Not much happened, other than me staring at her finding her totally beautifule, funny and so cool, I guess.

And then I moved away, leaving the city and the school. I was completely devastated (I know, I can still visit my friends and text or call them, but it's just not the same.) I told my friends, everyone was very sad and I felt so guilty, because of course I was sad about leaving all of my friends, but I mostly had to think about her.

I will never forget my last day at this school. When I arrived at school some of my friends came to me, hugged me and we went upstairs to our classroom. As I opened the door I started crying, as the Buffy theme song was playing and my whole class was standing there. The room was decorated with balloons, on my school table were red roses and some presents, there was cake and everyone hugged me (including my crush). It was amazing! She told me that she made the cake and that her and another friend bought the roses. The presents were a book, where everyone of my classmates and even my class teacher and my german teacher had written "good-bye" (or not god-bye) letters for me. I read it all and it means so much to me, it really showed me that I had even more friends in my class than I thought. My crush even wrote at the end of her letter #TheBuffyDiaries (a very original 😉 name we thought of for BTVS/TVD 🙂) And the other present was a pencilcase with signatures from all of my classmates 🙂 One of my best friends had even made me a custom Mr.Gordo. 😍
When I had to go, I hugged all of my friends, coming to my crush at last. I hugged her so long,
13618
I think I have never hugged anyone that long before (or after yet). I said: "You mean a lot to me. You know that right?" (I was almost crying.) She nodded and I left. I cried in th evening soooo much, for hours! While kuddling with Mr.Gordo.

Fast forward one or two months... (In the meantime I had moved houses and went to a new school. I missed all of my friends very much and cried A LOT about my crush, just wishing I could forget her or "get over her".) ...I was in my new school and my whole (old) class surprised me as they visited me at my new school. They could only stay a few minutes, but it was amazing! I hugged everyone AGAIN! (yes I know, lots of hugging in this post) And as I hugged her I whispered "I´ve missed you so much." She smiled, but kinda in a sad way. Like she was sorry that she didn´t have those feelings for me. Then they left again.

Fast forward a few months again. I had organized a christmas party for my friends from my old class, they all came to my new house. It was a sleepover party so we were 9 friends, some sleeping on the couch, my bed, some other beds for guests and others slept on the floor. I intentionally let her sleep in another room than me, because I knew otherwise I´d cry again. It was a christmas party, so obviously there were presents! I had presents for everyone, but for her I had the most and the biggest. First 3 TVD videos. Second a TVD binder with collages and cards and stuff (I made it kinda like a scrapbook, so with pretty ornate cards and designes) with pictures of her favourite scenes, couple and character. And third a brown teddybear, because I knew she wanted one for christmas and didn´t get it. She absolutely loved the binder and that made me very happy because it took a lot of time to make it.

Another more months later, I thought I was finally over her. I had a freeday (I had no school, but my old class had) so I visited them at school. Of course to see my friends again, but also to test if I really was over her. And oh man, I was so not over her! I saw her and again I felt dizzy and all. Really bad.

That was about 2 or 3 months ago I think. Now I don't have to think about her that much anymore. I think I really am finally getting over her now... 🙂 (She is still my friend and we still stay in touch, but the above was the last time I saw her in person.)

So yeah that was the only time I ever fell in love yet, so my only romance drama I can tell.

I had a crush on this girl but she was on an exchange (I live in the UK and she's from Ukraine), it was also her last day, I have her on instagram but I have't seen her since that night, that was the closest I've ever come to a 'romance'.

Good God! That was quite a post. 😃
^^Well that was an epic effort!^^^

gay people will raise gay kids. Now I would be living proof of that 🙁
(I still struggle with that thought, although I know it's not heritable.)

Don't be ashamed. It makes total sense if you were modelled a type of love that you seek that type of love. I was raised in a divorced home and don't believe in marriage. It doesn't mean we are damaged. We are who we are. And we're pretty awesome regardless of where we come from or who we like to (or don't like to) snog.

I am trying to think back to when I first started highschool. I was 12 when I saw people my age pashing for the first time. I was gobsmacked. They were sucking face at the top of the steps in front of the office, for everyone to see. It looked feral to me, especially because I knew both of them had been smoking cigarettes behinds the gym at lunch time and both had long greasy hair (the girl had an undercut and I am revolted by them to this day). They didn't come from the kind of homes that valued personal hygiene.

My first crush was my little sisters best friends older brother. He was 14, he had blonde tips and rode a BMX without a helmet. Our families went on holidays together. It was a great time on an island holiday, swerving to avoid quokkas on our bikes, minigolf, swimming and watching outdoor movies. When we got back to school after a stint away he smiled and said "Hi" to me in the halls. All of my mates were shocked that a cute older boy acknowledged an ordinary year 8 girl. I got grilled on him. One of the girls decided to make us her personal project. She found out his entire school schedule and dragged me around to stand outside his classrooms after class. I thought that was weird and stalkerish and if that's how you had a crush, I didn't want one, thankyou very much. I told the guy on a later family holiday how nutso my friends were and we had a good laugh about it. We never hooked up but I was really too young to have wanted to do that anyway.

I spent my high school years pining for guys who never saw me as anything more than a friend, so I totally identify with Willow in the early seasons of the show, except I had no Oz. I wanted to marry my best guy friend, and he ended up coming out as gay after we went to college, as well as a couple of other guys I had crushes on. So maybe I'm a gay man trapped in a woman's body?! LOL

Oh. I just remembered one that I had repressed. I was such a bitca to that poor bloke. Stop making school threads! Damn you. Are you writing a school based story?
