Your ideal s8

According to the "If you avoid season 8, why?" thread, lots of people seem to think that s8 is just too out there, or too unbelievable. So, in the spirit of friendly curiosity, I ask the following question:

Having seen Buffy s1-s7, what do YOU think would be a believable plot for an 8th season?

In other words... if you could rewrite s8 (and if you wouldn't rewrite s8, then don't bother with this thread) what outline would you follow?

I wouldn't change anything about s8 except for the "humans <3 vamps" sitch and the "so-and-so = twilight" sitch. I'd have picked somebody else. Somebody more mature... somebody more... well-read. However, there are a bunch of people that think s8 is just too wonky--perhaps beyond unwonking. Here's your opportunity to say what would've satisfied you.


(I also would've killed off Dawn in the first arc, but that's just me. Fingers crossed for the last 9 issues!)

I would do a better job of explaining why all of humanity ignores not only their self-interest, but every shred of critical thinking in embracing the "vampires are our friends" storyline... not just regular people but governments, law enforcement, homeland security, academics, etc.

I'd go with a global spell... something like what Jasmine used, or the one that made everyone admire Jonathan in "Superstar", or the one that made everyone think Dawn had always been there.

That's the only thing I'd change. Pending, of course, how this current Twilight thing pans out.

If there had been a televised Season 8, I doubt that Sunnydale would have been destroyed, therefore there would have been no reason for either Spike or Anya to die. In (TV) Season 8, Faith, Andrew, Anya, and Wood would have left Sunnydale with the surviving new Slayers and Giles to locate, organize, and train the various newbies located around the world, which would possibly lead to a spinoff series, "Slayer Legion," about the various Slayers' experiences and adventures.

Buffy and Spike, and the Scoobies would build a Slayer Central headquarters, located in Angel's old mansion, where they would co-ordinate and direct the various Slayer teams in key locations around the world, occasionally helping one team or another with special problems. Willow would synthesize a spell duplicating the effects of the Gem of Amara, allowing Spike to move around in sunlight and be pretty much unkillable. By mid-season, when "Slayer Legion" was canceled. Faith would return to Sunnydale, where she would work with Buffy and Spike at Slayer Central, and after a couple of weeks, the three would move in together at the mansion, sparking a big "who's doing what to who" mystery that would continue through the rest of the season.

Connor would enroll at UCSunnydale, where he and Dawn would strike up an almost immediate romance and be seriously talking marriage by mid-season.

The final scene of the season would be Buffy and Faith announcing that they were BOTH pregnant, while Spike has a conceited smirk on his face.

Then, on Season 6 of Angel, the freshly shanshued Angel, after spending a wild, passionate weekend in Las Vegas with Nina celebrating his newly restored humanity, discovers too late that Nina, in the throes of passion, had sank her teeth quite powerfully into his...Oh, wait, this is only about a televised Season 8 of Buffy. Forget that last part...

This is why there's such a thing as the BtVS/Angel RPG. So fans can role play the characters how they would like them - not just as Joss envisions them.

But having followed Season 8 - here's some things I would chance.

- Dawn doesn't become a Giant, Centaur or Doll (that was just dumb, imo).

- Buffy doesn't have a fling with fellow slayer -Satsu (which was very uncharacteristic of Buffy, imo). Instead Buffy would eventually be involved with a guy, whom is her equal.

- Twilight isn't Angel - but rather Twilight would be Angelus(who's now would be an evil doppleganger of Angel). Angel would still be a champion, and appear in the series - on Buffy's side.

- Willow wouldn't be certain to eventually go dark again, with Buffy being the one to kill her. (that was just a cop-out -imo)

-The Vampires good & Slayers bad, view point of most humans - would be better explained as either a mass world wide spell, or be having rogue slayers have videoed doing evil acts (i.e blowing up buildings, or committing murders of humans).

That's it so far.

i agree with the whole "Sunnydale go down the hole" concept never happening if there was a season 8 produced on tv...but I also don't think we'd have a slayer army the way we do in the comic. I think the sharing spell would have had a duration and all but maybe one or two of the most popular new slayers would have been brought into the fold.

That also doesn't mean Spike and Anya are safe...Spike resurfaces and lives on in Angel...much as I love Anya...these things also happen.

I think after the events of season 7 I would have loved to see the gang take a road trip...with the hellmouth closed they branch out to stop vampiric activity in other parts of the country and world...and it really seems to be something a group of friends her age would do anyway.

I wasn't kidding with my Buffy vs. Cthulhu crack either..it would be awesome to see the dark gods minions begin to infiltrate sunnydale and the world while buffy tries to figure out how to stop something thats the size of a skyscraper and makes you go mad if you look at it long enough. I would have even brought Glory back as a herring only to see Cthulhu effortlessly squash her.
