Ever since I was a kid, I've been TERRIFIED of dinosaurs. Even today, I occasionally have nightmares about them...usually Godzilla is in the distance, stomping around and destroying stuff. I'm hiding in my room, crouched on the floor....but somehow he sees me and come running towards my location. Oh God, that's the worst nightmare EVER.

You'll never see me going to the Jurassic Park exhibit at Universal Studios. Nope, never, hell no, just kill me. Even though there's absolutely ZERO possibility of me encountering a dinosaur, the terror is real.

Irrational fears. What are some of yours?

cripes you really are old!
I love Dinosaurs...and Godzilla haha.

I don't know to be honest, this sort of question is always hard for me when I get asked about any fears etc.., I wouldn't say this is a fear that I realize, it's probably more sub conscious, I'm incredibly prone to night terrors..and they are incredibly bad, I'll wake up sweating, not knowing where I am, jump to turn the light on.., I often think I see someone standing in the room, a very dark shadow or at the base of the bed, I'll claim to have seen things move across the room or that something touched me..., and this happens at least 2/3 times a week on average, so something I'm fearful of must set this off lol

I think the only one that stands out at times is I'm frightened I'll just simply forget everything, like my passwords or phone numbers etc, and I'll try to think of everyone at once, and then because I'm trying to think of to many, I forget one *password reset* lol

I used to be terrified of dinosaur exhibitions when I was a little kid, and me and my brother were brought to several - not bones, but animatronics that make noise and move. My dad was so disappointed in me. I started that trend early 😛

I've mentioned before that I have a fear of deep water, and even though I swim a lot and have done since I was young, it has never gone away.

Any long-time members will know that I find dolls with overly large and out-of-proportioned heads and big eyes really unnerving.
And yet people insist on decorating their office desks, homes and car dashboards with these creepy little collectables. Urgh, urgh I say. They could easily spring to life and come at me with needles, pairs of scissors and various sized knives.

Yes, this is completely irrational but in my bones I know that my opinion is right...

Universal Studios has this exhibit where a full size, animatronic T-Rex from Jurassic Park jumps out and roars at people. I can't imagine myself paying to see that. Honestly, I'd probably wet my pants...and faint. Yes, I'm an adult and I KNOW it's not real; but I'd end up in the funny farm after that experience.

Oh, and in case you have a sense of humour like mine. If Amber Bunny Slippers made a trip to the funny farm you'd not see any crocodiles, as they are descendants of dinosaurs.

The Universal Studios comment does remind me of something...

Perhaps it has to do with how Return to Oz gave me nightmares when I was 10. The scene I had nightmares of the most was the headless witch chasing me for my head while many disembodied heads shrieked and howled. I had that one over and over for weeks before it faded (and actually feel a tingle of fear as I remember that, like maybe I shouldn't share this in case they hear me talking about them and come after me again...)

One night--as an adult--I was walking down a quiet, abandoned street when I passed a display window featuring several mannequin heads with wigs (and maybe jewelry, they seemed to be wearing something other than wigs but my memory was fuzzy on that point). I couldn't get past that display window fast enough, sure they were going to start screaming (I recognized it was irrational, but it still haunted me).

And I walked fast for a long time after as I was just uncomfortable, as if they might bust out the window and start flying after me. And what then? My thought was that maybe when friends go by where they heard I was decapitated then one would notice one of the mannequin heads in the window looking just like me.. 😱 Yeah, I knew the idea was crazy, but I did not slow down....

Some things just NEVER leave you...ever. :(
I have a fear of living forever on this planet. I'd like to leave it before the brainless brigade reaches my outback home.

Bet you're glad you is not going to be a vampire or a werewolf, problems with being a ghost though.
Throwing up.
About a year and a half ago I had something and spent the night throwing up in the toilet and the sink and I've had that fear since then, I also haven't thrown up since then.

My dear Amber Bunny Slippers, had you completely understood me, I'd say you were bound for the funny farm. If a person was to watch you in the funny farm they would not have seen the descendants of the dinosaurs because ABS would probably have been unconscious.

When I was a child I feared barbies and dolls because when I was 5, my oldest sister's friend said she used to have a little sister but one night she was playing with her barbies and dolls and when she turned off the light and went to sleep they came to life and murdered her.

Just like Ben is Glory, Barbie is Chucky.

Shark in deep pools...impossible but I always imagine that there is a shark in a pool if my feet aren' touching the ground.

Snakes...fully fledged ophiophobe here. The family find it hilarious...I hate them all 😉

How many snakes are there in the UK? (types)
Well I always refuse to play that game where you throw small pieces of food into someone's mouth- because I'm scared I'll choke 😕

I recall when I was a child and some boy told me how a "shadow" was hiding in kid's closets and killing them, and said he heard about it on the news. I was pretty scared of that for awhile. I think I was 8-9.

Though an interesting bit...I saw Return to Oz and Salem's Lot the same month when I was 10, and RtO scared me a lot more (though when I read the novel of Salem's Lot, I think when I was 12, it scared me pretty bad), but when I saw both movies back to back when I was about 19-20 then Return to Oz seemed more silly (though it still had its moments) while Salem's Lot gave me the chills. Funny how the different perspectives of age can make a difference.

I grew up thinking them religious leaders were thick, I was brought up a Quaker. Did you know there was a split in the Quakers gathering in western Massachusetts prior to the Salem stupidity. Those Quakers who fled were found just over a decade later and the children put to death. IE Salem's Lot.

If you develop Anxiety Attacks try and say what is an irrational fear.
