whats your motto for life, something you live by, think about when the goings tough etc.

Mine is that I can do anything I put my mind too and if anyone says I can't I will prove them wrong.

Yours?

Follow your dreams

I believe that life without dreams is not worth living. Always have things to want to fulfill, have hopes and try finding what makes you happy.

This is a shortened version, but basically, this,

"Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours."

Don't let anyone tell you you're not good enough or that there is something you can't do. Don't let other people write your stories just because you're too afraid to take the pen of their hands.

I have a few:

"Life can suck. The half empty/half full glass metaphor is crap. Most of the time, the glass is much more empty than full. So what? Some people's glass is even more empty than yours. The glass might not be half full, but it's never completely empty.
The empty glass only wins in quantity. The full glass wins in quality. And that's something nothing can ever take away. Even tough those full glasses are rarer than the empty glasses, they are much more powerful. Because when you are down, you know you have something to hold on to. An empty glass just helps you enjoying more the next full one."

*No, this is not an alcoholism metaphor*

"Don't give up. Stop thinking you can't do it, and don't let people make you think you can't do it. You have it in you, you have what it takes to get what you want. It doesn't matter how hard the journey is. You have the will, and thus the power to do it. And if people don't believe in you, it doesn't matter. Because when you trully believe in yourself, in your capacity, you have the confidence of a thousand man."

"What's the point of living, if you don't live to be yourself? In the end, there are no weird vs normal people. We all have particularities, idiosyncrasies. And if some people have problems with that, it doesn't matter. Because there are also people who love you precisely for your particularities. And everybody doesn't have the chance to be appreciated with their qualities and defaults. So feel lucky that some people like you, no matter how much of a cracked egg you are".

And also:

"Just don't lose your time thinking about what people will think about what you do/ what you are. You can't please anybody".

Yeah, my motto for life is totally an Angel line.

"If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do."

I try to be the best person I can be. And thinking about this helps.

When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Firefly lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

xD I've heard this before.
My motto changes based on what's happening in my life. Currently, it's "Go Confidently In The Direction Of Your Dreams," from Thoreau. I love his quotes. I actually found a wall decor with this quote on it when I went from my dad's to my mom's, on the way home. And now it's on my wall with a bundle of pink butterflies.

I don't have a motto. xD

I always wanted a motto when I was younger, but now I'm not really on the prowl for one.

Because the thing is,
Mottos are usually pretty darn simple. Life, not so much.

I would love to condense it all into a paragraph or two, but I would feel like I was leaving so much out...

I'm tempted to say "Friends don't let friends ship Bangel" but since I believe that this is a serious question, I will give you a serious answer, even though it might not sound serious at first:

"When in doubt, order the hamburger"

See, I told you that you wouldn't think that it was serious, didn't I? Okay, here's the interpretation. Stay with the things that you know. Don't make blind choices that might end up in disappointment or disaster for yourself or those who you care about. Have at least some idea of how deep the water is before you jump in.

And that doesn't have to mean that you avoid adventure and new experiences. There's always cheeseburgers, bacon burgers, chili cheeseburgers, burgers with mustard, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, burgers on whole wheat, burgers with...well, I think that you get the idea.

"All is One." (Or, being the Latin lover - no, not what you think 😛 - that I am, Omnia Unus.)

Has lots and lots of consequences (including amorality and fatalism), which makes life so much easier to bear.

"There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need, but not for man's greed" - Gandhi

I feel if everyone only consumed what they needed and didn't waste so much the world would be a much more beautiful place

It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice. Which I think I live up to pretty well. Being nice isn't the same as being a door mat though.

Me being me I even have one for other people. 😛 Well ok, it goes for myself as well. Do what you want as long as it doesn't effect other people in a negative way. Doing that 100% is impossible but I just get tired of the "I do what I want and don't care what anyone else think" mentality. Not that you always should base what you do on what others think/want you to do. But having some insight in consequences of your choices wouldn't hurt. More of a "bigger picture" thing than to take it down to every detail, no matter how small, in your life. So not a perfect motto but I know what I mean so it makes perfect sense to me.

I'm also a fan of the golden rule. More or less "Treat people the way you want to be treated". You want to have respect? Start by giving it to others.
