Ok I was wondering does anyone here on BB ever thought that someone was a Female but then you find out their a Male or there a Male and you find out that there a Female.

I Konw of done this with a few of you mainly Blessed and Slive.
Have you ever done this??

Female-type usernames can throw you off initially. Many peeps are programmed to assume because we see a certain type of name, that it's a certain type of gender behind it. I'm no different.
There was a member here (who hasn't posted in a long while) with the usertitle LILAH, whom I thought was female at first because of the name...but later found out he was a guy. I've made that same assumption with two or three other members over the months. I suppose I've got to learn to think outside the box more.

I thought AshSan was a chick.. mainly because not many guys I know are artistic and all.

At first glance at the name Magui, I thought she was a he, but than I looked at the gender because she kept talking about Spangel.

I was going to put I never assume... which I guess is wrong I thought AshSan was a girl too. Sorry 🙂 anyway usaly I only think girl or guy if they have something like girl, guy, dude, chick or man in their username.

I feel offended 😛

Although the name Ashley is a girls name in America but more of a boys name here, common assumption.

I thought ~andythevamp~ was a guy. That was until she introduced herself in Raiden House. (Best house on the board!) But other than that I don't really think about it. If someone says something that sounds typically male and I thought they were a female.... I'll check their gender... but other than that, I'm just talking to people who are wonderful. I must say though, it's pretty hard to distinguish male from female if the person is sporting the wrong sex in their avatar. 😉

I always think people look like their avatars. I know they don't but that's what I do, everyone who has a guy in their av is a guy and everyone who has a girl is a girl..

Woo I look like Nick!

But seriously, thats common logic but my avatars are normally there visually please me whenever I see my post, hence the likes of Sarah and Alyson gracing them. Nick is there because I met him, woo!

What if they have both in there avi?

I thought Ashsan was a girl too... N4H I was just confused???

Same here...I thought XxSlayerxX was a girl at first but then I found out I was wrong.

And I know he's going to kill me, but Comma's almost always had Sarah as his Av and I did think at first that he was a she...but now I know better...

Yeah now you do, but I still think you look like Alyson, heh.. (I though you were a girl my first couple of weeks here.)

The problem is when someone has an av with many people on it.. That just confuses me.. lol.

Ok I thought so too until I read your post just now..

I thought xxSlayerxx was female until one of the "user above you" threads straightened me out.

I also thought Blessed, Calangal, NSlayMode were the opposite sex of what they are. (Sorry!)

I have made the same mistake many times before, I have now learned to look to the right and check...lol.. sometimes you just dont know by the name and avitar.

Cordelia, I won't kill you.Lol.It's cool.Anways, if you're a guy and you have an avatr of a girl, it doesn't mean that the user is a girl. The same thing applies to girls. The reason why I don't reveal too much information about me, is because of the safety rules in the internet.Perverts, nowadays are tracking down young adults like me (I'm 13), and it's very dangerous to reveal too much about yourself.I can't belive people thought I was a girl!LOL.It's alright🙂

See... I chose (and always choose) my avatar and username to reflect my gender, so I automatically assume others do too... Also, I'm a strong believer in Syke's Law ("All internet users are male until observed being female.") So, if you have a gender neutral username, I apologise in advance for assuming you're male...

XxSlayerxX, you're a guy!? Whoa... Again, I don't know guys who have the XxX thingy in their usernames so...

I think, like everyone has said, that your avatar has something to do with it. Miss Buff right there next to ya name seems to point to a female gender. Then again, I have a Wes avatar.......

It also has to do with whether or not it's displayed on the post. If it is, I rarely make a mistake. If not, and I would have to look in someone's profile - it's a different story.

I've made that mistake on other boards but it's kind of hard to do that here. I mean there is that gender thing on the upper right hand side and unless the person intentionaly wishs to masquerade or be elusive about gender it doesn't take a whole lot to just look up at it
