Your One Special Movie Or TV Show

As many of you here know, Edgar Rice Burroughs is a very special writer to me, and his (literally) immortal character, John Carter, is, without doubt, my all time favorite fictional hero. I waiter more than 5o years to see Carter brought to the big screen, and, despite poor financial returns, "John Carter" is, to me, one of the greatest movies that I have ever seen, or ever hope to see. Unless, of course, Disney comes to their senses and makes the sequel.

I said that, to ask this:

Do you have a single "special" movie or TV show, possibly based on a favorite book or story? A book that you read and just KNEW that you had to see made into a movie?

I don't know if I can pick just one... I have a lot of go to movies... depending on what I'm looking for (Rat Race, is my go to movie when I just want to laugh, lately I am Legond has been where I go when I want to cry etc...)

Have you, by any chance, read the book that this was taken from? Instead of zombies, as the movie had, Robert Neville was the last human in a world overrun by vampires.

(Buffy would have had a ball there)

Also, since they are planning a sequel now, they've released a new version on which the protagonist survives.

The big one that really jumps to mind for me is Batman Begins. I've read comic books for years and Batman has always been my favorite superhero. I never liked the old Batman movies though. They seemed hokey, really toned down from the mood and direction of the comics and mean to appeal to quite a young audience.

When Christopher Nolan took over the franchise though, that completely changed. Batman Begins is my favorite movie of all time (the scene with the microwave emitter notwithstanding). The origin story for Bruce Wayne is just incredible, his return to Gotham, all of it. I thought they nailed everything that makes Batman so cool.

(I actually heard the screeching sound - of record player suddenly stopping in my head) they're making a sequel????? for real??????? now I'm really excited!!!!!! and no, I haven't read the book... but I plan to! and will smith can be moving as hell, in my opinion (like in six degrees of separation). He is not just an action hero but so much more.

DM is one of the films like Buffy that has it all humor action drama a rip van winkle for the modern age its so quoteable

Hmmm, it's a tough one, but I'm going to have to go with ReBoot. This was a show I grew up watching, and was the first show I followed. However, the network over here in the UK stopped showing it before the end of the third season, so I never got to see the conclusion until I was 13, about 9 years later. I saw the rest of Season 3 (that I hadn't seen), and then went onto watch the 4th season, which ended on a cliffhanger.

That is one story that I'd love to see, and I'm hoping that one day, I'll get to see it played out in some form (heck, I'd be happy if it was done in comic book format based on Gavin Blair's version of what happened)

Transformers!!!! Love all 3 of them, the only downside being Megan Fox always on screen in the first 2 movies........

As for a TV show, Pretty Little Liars I LOVE!! I didn't read the books (didn't want to) but the show is incredible!

My 'one special movie' is definitely Jurassic Park.
As a kid I loved dinosaurs (I still do) and Jurassic Park was just the movie of my dreams. But at that time I was too young for the movie. When it was on TV, my parents would let me watch the nice stuff, like the Brachiosaurus and the Triceratops etc., and change the channel when the heavier stuff came.
The movie was the first movie I ever bought. Back then it was still on VHS. I watched it till it broke, but I still have the cassette, of course. But luckily there was a DVD now and I bought that one. And I don't even know how many times I have watched that DVD. Whenever I was ill and couldn't go to school, this was the movie I watched. And a few months ago, I finally got myself the blu-ray.
For my 18th birthday, my friends surprised me with a private screening of Jurassic Park at our local theater. Best theater experience of my life. It was insane. And you bet I'll watch the hell out of that 3D re-release this year. I'm not a 3D fan, man, that movie is worth it. I'll go watch it as many times as I can. I'll spare no expense 😉
I have no idea how often I have seen that movie, but it's probably well beyond the 30 now.
In fact, maybe I'll watch it later today 🙂

Uhm, I watch A LOT of tv shows so these are the ones I love most:

Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, LOST, Scrubs, Fringe, The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Once Upon a Time, The Big Bang Theory, How I met your mother (I'm at season 5), Parenthoos (I'm at season 2)

Then I'm completely obsessed by anything HARRY POTTER.

And I recently watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower and fell so in love with it...now I need to read the book.

I only have three TV series on DVD and that includes Buffy

BSG and Airwolf

Airwolf is my gulty plesure TV series with a cool mix of good actors and cheesy villien of the week set up played by some cheesy 80s nobody followed by airel stunts that most likely be done by CGI now days there something cool about a helicopter floating a foot off the ground
Or doing a rolling take off acting like a plane or pretending to be the space shuttle to freeze out the computer.
It still pulls at the inner kid in me

Buffy is mine but besides Buffy it be the movie Wayne's World I saw it when I was a kid and fell in love with it whenever I am having a night alone when everyone is out I order a pizza and watch that film, whenever I am in horrid/sad/emotional mood I just play that film and it brings a huge smile to my face, I remember me and my best friend had a bad day and we got loads of candy and takeout and just forgot the world by watching it. Me, my best mate and sister are in love with this film and always quote it.

Tough one to call for me as there are many lol. I would probably go with Star Trek - The Next Generation. Huge fan of the show, and I was glad that they got 3 movies out of it, I was disappointed that they didn't go with another as a final send off as I was a bit disappointed with the ending of Nemesis.

Besides Buffy which is #1 for TV shows, my 2nd choice is Queer As Folk. Such a great show with an amazing cast that helped change TV forever & had so many great moments. I love the character of Justin Taylor because he was a victim of a hate crime yet he fought back & made it through it. I can relate to that & I love how they dealt with it.

As far as movies, my special or fav movie is Cruel Intentions. I can't get enough of the Annette/Sebastian love story or how wicked SMG's character Kathryn is. That movie just always clicked with me for some reason. I also love horror movies & I'm a big fan of the Halloween movies & the Scream movies.

I've never loved a tv series the way I love Buffy the vampire slayer. Lost is really special to me too though. I love the whole spiritual theme.

I would freak out if there ever was a movie based on one of Tove Jansons books that wasn't targeted at kids. She's the author of the moomin books for you that doesn't know. They really are deep and spiritual books that take on life in a way I like. Not at all (just) for kids that I think many people think.

Okay I'm not a fan of books being made into movies. It's okay when I watch the movie first, but every book I've read and saw a movie based on later I ended up hating.

That being said, there is one movie that always stood out to me from the beginning. My parents and brotehr went to see it during the original release and I was so jealous I couldnt go because I was too young at the time (I think 7 at the time, and in germany it was released for ages 12 up). Later they bought it on tape and i watched it in secret. By now I've seen it around 50 times and I enjoy it as much as the first time I watched it. It never got even remotely boring to me. I'm talking about Titanic.
