Your Pets

Hey @Taake, thanks for all the advice! We do and have tried a lot of that but will try the rest too! A friend recommended those thunder jacket things too, I think your post have made me decide we should definitely get one.
I guess I think of it the same way as when a human is anxious, tread slowly, if something doesn't work after a while try something else etc. We tried him with zylkene too, around fireworks season, and didn't notice any difference either. 🙁

Anyway. Thanks. And Buffy is a great name for your beautiful doggy!

Just remember you need to teach them to associate the Thundershirt with something positive first 🙂

Oh fireworks season, I'm so lucky to have dogs who don't care, cause that must be such a pain :/

I hated 4th of July. For two weeks fireworks every night. I never had a dog that didnt care. That would be a treat.

It really is a treat! I've heard of dogs afraid of fireworks and it seems like an awful time for dog and owner both.

^ Yuh it's the worst. White noise on overdrive or loud films on. Poor souls.
Be extra nice to your pets today for me everyone.

I've just had to watch my cat die in agony after being poisoned. I hope the person who did it dies in just as much pain and soon.

Oh my effing gawd. I am so so sorry! What is wrong with people. I've heard a lot recently about people going out their way to leave food etc around with poison in to attract and kill people's pets. People like this should be found and dealt with, not by the law, they'd do nothing, but by the pet owners whose poor animals suffered.

Sorry man. Heartbroken for you.

Oh man, so sorry! Stuff like that happens sometimes around here too and it just infuriates me. I don't understand how and why people do stuff like that, how you can hate random animals that much.

We found suspicious meat thrown into patches of snow last winter after there had been a series of reported dog poisonings. I had my dog sniff out all the bits we could find and then we threw them away and warned pet owners in a local FB group. It's really scary to think of what might've happened if someone had eaten it.

Really sorry about your cat, it sucks to loose a companion that way!

A question for pet owners (cat and dog owners in particular) out of curiosity :
Does your dog/cat sleep typically sleep with you in bed or does it typically sleep somewhere outside of the bedroom ?

My dog has her own bed in my bedroom where she sleeps (big comfy and expensive... so of course she mostly sleeps on the floor 😛) . In the morning though she'll come stand next to the bed and wait to be invited up into my bed. Then we'll sleep for another hour or two.

All my cats (I've had a few down the years, not all of them at the one time) slept in my bed when it was winter time. When it got to summer they were affronted if I asked them up to the bed.

My dog also has his own bed in the bedroom. Though he usually makes his own way out and sleeps on the couch during the night, then is back in the bedroom to wake us up in the morning.

My dog moves about the house at night. She's a Border Collie and is on constant alert, so she starts in the living room, goes into the kids' rooms, comes to my room, repeat. Usually early in the morning she will come jump on the bed and snooze with me for a bit.

Good dog, guarding the house! You can rest when someone else is on watch.
My dogs are like that when we sleep in the woods. But then... that's why we bring them then 😀

Buffy went as Buffy for Halloween last year by the way... though she ate her stake... that's okay though, she doesn't need it to hunt baddies! 😉

(don't worry, she wasn't dressed all night. Just took the picture as a laugh 🙂)

That's funny!
My niece is getting a bunny rabbit on Friday. Should she name him/her after a Buffy character? And if so which one?

Well the obvious answer is Anya :P Too bad she's not that far into the series to know all about the rabbit phobia

My dogs slept in other room.

My beloved Anton had free pass in all house, including my bed, but the other (Hommer), was more, let's say, wild, he really didn't have manners. But he liked to stay in his place, to be left alone. Sometimes he would enter inside, but he had to be supervisioned.

But when Anton got really old, my little old citizen, he didn't want to leave my side, he followed me everywhere; even when I left a room for 1, 0r 2 minutes, there he would go, very slowly, after me. So I put his bed beside mine (he couldn't climb it anymore) - but in the opposite direction of the door. He wouldn't sleep there, no way. Then I changed his bed to the other side, and he finally accepted it. He wanted to make sure that, when I left the bed, he would see or hear...

Well, I suggested the name Anya to my niece (she's seen 'Fear Itself' so she understood the joke) but she doesn't like Anya that much (at the moment) so I guess that's out. 🙁

Oz is a strong possibility, she misses him a bit. Maybe 'Rupert'? that's cute, or Mr. Trick?

I like Rupert.

Rupert the Rabbit sounds the best of anything. The only way Oz would work if you ship it... Woz the Rabbit. Mr. Trick doesn't work at all.

I like Rupert best- I'll certainly suggest that.
Mr. Trick works if the bunny works with is a magician. 🙂

Woz the Rabbit sounds like you've got a speech impediment. 😛
