So I'm not a big fan fic person because I always have the worst and hardest time not making it cannon. But I know there are so many great writers here on BB. One of my new years resolutions I'm doing with a friend is to actually start writing down the stories I come up with. And I think I'm going to do a weekly thing on my blog...

Do you guys write any regular fiction? And would you like to share?

I've written 4 original scripts, one that was 7 seasons long (around 150 episodes of 3000 word length), 5 seasons of 23 episodes, 2 seasons of 24 and 8 seasons of 20-25
I write fanfic, but I've stepped away from BtVS and I now right Supernatural RPF (Real Person Fiction). All my fics are AU, set in universes where all the actors are just regular people.

I think I've got about five fics in total of this type online right now, with another four in the works at the minute.

Also, I've written three Tales of the Slayers fics that are archived here at BB.
 
I've only ever written one fanfic piece, and it's kicking around here somewhere. *kicks the Boards* Otherwise, I write quite a bit of "regular" fiction and I'm always working on getting someone to publish it and pay me for it. I've had two pieces published without pay (SIGH), and a short story currently in submission with a bunch of magazines that probably won't want it, but hope springs eternal.

I do sometimes get ideas for original fic, but most of the time the stuff I write is fanfic.

However I've been more interested lately in writing all-human fics; putting the Buffyverse characters into all-human situations. I find these closer to writing original fic than fanfic because although when writing I incorporate canon!Buffyverse characteristics, the very nature of the genre means that you've got a lot more leeway.

The fic I'm currently posting (Closer to Midnight) is probably the closest I've got to a completed original fic. It's posted as fanfic, because it features Buffy and Spike. But there's a secondary plot set in the past, a romance between William and Elizabeth. When I was writing that it really did feel like I was writing something original (looking past the characteristics I took from Buffyverse canon: William as a poet, spunky Elizabeth etc.)

I'm not one of those people who has a burning desire to be a published writer, and I love the immediate feedback and overall fandom community involved in writing and reading Buffyverse fanfic.

That said, if I ever get hit by an original idea (that I could see myself actually finishing) I wouldn't be averse to writing it.

I am just reading some of your fanfic (finally) and you are amazing. If I had as many ideas as you did, I would be very proud of myself.
I've started to write original stuff almost exclusively about three years ago. I'd like to be able to live off my writing one day, but know that's nearly impossible. Currently, I have exactly one short story published (without pay *sighs*), but I'm working on it. Currently, I'm working on two novel ideas simultaneously. One of them has actually managed to get it past the planning stage and I've started writing that. It's coming along quite nicely so far.
The other one, I'm still planning and taking notes for and have recently realised that I have too much story to fit into one or even two books, so it could maybe be the start of a series. I'm really excited about that fact. I'm also toying with a story idea, set in the same universe, about ten years after that one, but nothing specific yet. I just have the general setting, what has changed since then (read: a lot) and a couple of characters.

I've written a couple of short pieces that have been posted at the Spuffy Realm, but for the most part, I'm a reader, not a writer.

I've written some original fiction that can be found here, if you would like to read it. You can also find more of it here at my original fiction livejournal (but you'll have to friend it first before you can read) and then my fan fiction can be found here as well. Again, you'll have to friend and be friended back in order to read it.

But, I would love and invite anyone who wants to read it and give feedback to do so. 🙂

I'm actually in the middle of writing one right now, but I have 3 chapters up. It's all about Tillow with a little bit of Xanya mixed in so far, could be some more couples later on, don't have microsoft word right now so I haven't been able to post of late. But it's called Meant to Find Each Other and it's home is the Kitten Board. 🙂 There is TONS of GREAT fics there of the Tillowy nature if anyone else likes Tilloe and wants to read awesome fan fics! 🙂
 
I write fan fiction myself, mostly X-Files, Buffy, Pirates of the Caribbean and I'm currently writing an Lorne-centric series where he finds love. My pen name is Alani.

I haven't read any fan fic of late but I like to read one shots and fluffy stories. I love Buffy fic that involves Spike and Joyce but there isn't much.

I love to write fiction too but haven't gotten around to posting any.

Btw - I always find talking about what I'm writing and writing in general is more likely to get me in the mood for writing. Would anyone be interested/participate in a general writing and writing support thread in the fic forum?

I would, definitely. I've actually got a word doc of some tips that I sent to a friend the other week. 🙂
 
I wish I could come up with some original ideas, but all I seem to get are fanfic ideas. Not that I'd ever have the nerve to actually publish an original anywhere but at my fanfic website. LOL
 
I write screenplays, novels, comic books, music lyrics, video game synopses. Basically anything that involves a plot and is relevant to geek culture. I use to write bloody awful poetry in my slightly younger days but I lost the knack for it. I one day plan to be Sam Raimi, Stan Lee, Stephen King, George Lucas, Christopher Nolan and Chris Cornell all wrapped in a geeky package...with a little bit of Joss tossed in; not the looking down on my fans part though.

Writing Buffy fan-fic is a way for me to deal with writers block. When something I'm creating stumbles or I'm unsure what the next step is; I pour myself into putting a spin on a certain Buffy episode or my own continuation of the series. Sometimes pouring the creative juices into something else will spark the idea I need for my stuff; other times it just gives me the chance to step back and take it on later with fresh eyes.

The Matt Damon and Ben Affleck success story is an imaginary creature that just so happened to pop into existence for one brief moment; hence why it will probably be another decade or more before I hopefully make something of myself. Luckily I'll at least have a plethora of projects ready to go by then.

I can't remember just who, exactly, that it was, but I read once about a moderately successful novelist whose system for creating a plot for his next novel was that he had all of the different plot elements, character descriptions, locales, and whatever other variations on a story that he could imagine printed on cards. When he had trouble coming up with a new idea, he would just shuffle the cards just like a deck of playing cards, and deal himself a hand, the more cards, the more complex his new plot. I'm not recommending that, but it seemed to work for him.

I'm considering writing a movie, but I'm not sure whether or not I could script it well 🙁
 
I wrote a lot of BTVS fanfiction back in the day, and shortly after I started posting it online I started writing regular fiction as well. It was all short stories, drabbles and poems about everyday people. Which is a little strange because all the fanfic I've written has had a sci-fi/fantasy element, but I rarely stray from reality in my original stuff. I had posted some of it online at fictionpress, but don't have any linkage to share right now. Posted a drabble or two somewhere on BB too a few years ago, but I'm not sure exactly where off the top of my head :silly:.

That's a great resoloution to write more too, I should do that this year! Between learning Photoshop and BB I just don't seem to have the time for it when I'm on my laptop anymore, but I love writing. Maybe I'll have to set aside a couple days a week to give it another shot 🙂
