I list them all even if not all of them goes for any significant other.
Riley - "Boring" and nice. What can I say, I like nice people. And I'm not an adventure guy. And pretty down to earth. I like that in a girl. I have no need for anything fancy.
Angel - Thinker/Broody and likes to keep in the shadows (no attention seeker) but still full of emotions.
Parker - Because I might fall for his/her act. 🙁 Wouldn't be a long relationship though.
Spike - Well the bad boy or girl in my case can be attractive and they can definitely take you for a ride. But for a relationship, no thank you. Unless a sex buddy counts as a relationship. Season 7 Spike is a bit different but I skip him for now.

Good question! I have to say that none of them are really like any of the guys or girls I've dated. I guess Spike would come most close as I've always had a thing for people who act and think like they're the best, and Spike kinda does in some ways.. 🙂 And, I suppose Riley a bit too, as my husband can annoy the hell out of me with his know it all attitude, and Riley really did that too, lol
If we would expand the question to be about other significant others though I'd say that Oz are like my husband in so many ways - calm, a little quite and really smart.

Parker: Total a**hole. Anyone who would compare Buffy, or any other woman, for that matter, to a toilet seat deserves a life of celibacy on Devil's Island.
Riley: Joe College, Captain America, probably the star quarterback on his high school team, blue ribbon 4H Club pig raiser. Too used to being the top dog, best of the best, leader of the pack. He could never accept being Buffy's subordinate.

My husband is a LOT like Riley... Old-fashioned values, very chivalrous, and he's also a military man. 😉 That's the type of guy I tend to go for. Although looks-wise Angel is definitely more my "type" than any of Buffy's other boyfriends.

It'd definitly have to be Riley. I've even had dreams about it. (not that I really dream about guys much... but yeah, for some reason I dreamt about him!) Hahahaha... he reminds me of my ex a little. But a MUCH better guy than my ex. LOL Except at the end... buuuut they only did that to get rid of Riley, so it was stupid and he wouldn't really have done something like that if it weren't for the writers. lol

Angel: I don't like him in Buffy and I don't love Bangel more than that. I prefer Angel-I'm-actually-kind-of-clumsy-and-not-so-broody to Angel-hello-salty-goodness-mister-broody-and-hansome.
Spike: I love the fact that, even if he is a bad boy, he is kind of a big loser, like he still was William the Bloody the poor poet no one really understands or care about. It can be quite insane to date him, but I would melt if a guy told me this:

Its interesting to me that more people are leaning toward Riley as the most realistic or most like their own relationships yet Buffy/Riley is not a very popular `ship. Why is that?

I noticed that too. I think people don't like Briley because Riley has this mind set that he's supposed to protect Buffy and what not, and not the other way around. But in a real normal relationship, it's what every girl wants.

I don't agree with this. Every girl in a real normal relationship doesn't want to have a protective boyfriend. Why would a girl want that? I want my partner to be an equal. I want us to take care of and protect each other. But to just want to be on the receiving end I think is belitteling not only yourself but also to demand to much of your partner. I'm proud about being able to stand on my own and I want a partner that understands that and feels the same about him/herself.
The reason a lot of people can relate to Briley I think is 'cause they had the most "normal" relationship. Spuffy was really about unhappy love (even though I love Spuffy I don't think Buffy really loved Spike. Sadly.), and that doesn't usually lead to (hugs and puppies, naaah, kidding, 'couldn't help myself there 🙂) a relationship and Bangel I see more as a teenage first love thing. Which when I think about it should be really relatable, but maybe not something a lot of people can relate to in their current relationship, as many of us allready has experienced that first love.
