Title: Never Met A Guy Like You
Summary: After all the potentials became slayers, Peyton Ellis, a fifteen-year-old, originally British, girl in LA, realizes her power. The only people who know of this power are her best friends, Jamey and Shawn, and her older brother, Paul. When Jamey meets the guy of her dreams, Peyton is suspicious and decides to look into this mystery man. She is amazed and terrified by what she discovers.
"It happened!" Jamey squealed as she ran to meet Peyton in the hall of their Los Angeles school. "I met the perfect guy!"
"Who?" said Peyton. "Is he from here? I mean, does he go to our school?"
"No," said Jamey. "He's out of school. He dropped out."
"That's promising," said Shawn, approaching them from behind. No one knew it but Peyton, but Shawn had a huge crush on Jamey, and hated to hear her swoon over other guys.
"Shut up, Shawn," said Jamey. "He's so sweet, though."
"When did you meet him?" Peyton asked.
"Last night at Daddy's club. He has dark hair and blue eyes. He has a beautiful smile, too." Jamey sighed happily. "He's perfect."
"You've known this guy one day and you're already saying he's perfect?" said Peyton, suspiciously. "I don't know, Jamey."
"You'll see when you meet him," said Jamey. "We're meeting at Daddy's club at nine."
"Why nine?" Shawn asked. "Why so late?"
Jamey shrugged. "I don't know. I suggested seven, but he insisted on nine. Maybe he has plans." Jamey looked at her watch. "Gotta run. I have to go to the library and look some stuff up on the computer. See you guys later."
Jamey ran off.
When she was gone, Shawn turned to Peyton. "Nine," he said. "That's late... well, not late, but it's late to start a date. Why, do you think, he wouldn't come out at seven, when the Sun's still up?"
"Shawn," said Peyton, "we can't rush to conclusions. We've never met the guy. Not yet."
"I say it's worth looking into, though," said Shawn. "I mean, we can't let Jamey go out with some strange guy, anyway. He is a drop out, right?"
"That means nothing," said Peyton. "My brother, Paul, is a drop out, and he's a great guy."
Shawn gave her that look. That puppy dog look he was so good at. That begging look that said, "Please, Peyton?"
Peyton groaned. "Fine."
"If I knew any other slayers I'd ask them," Shawn told her.
"Right," said Peyton. "Before we do anything, though, we have to find out his name. Did Jamey say?"
"No," said Shawn. "I can go ask, though. I'll pretend to look at stuff online. She'll blab about him for an hour."
Shawn ran off.
He met Peyton after school that afternoon. Jamey stayed for Cheer Leading practice. "Dustin Everly," Shawn announced. "Lives on Fifth street. You know what that means?"
"That he lives two blocks from you?" said Peyton.
"No," said Shawn. "Fifth street? That's where the cemetary is! Come on, slayer-girl! Don't you know anything about vampires?"
"I know that I have a stake in my back pocket that I'm considering stabbing you with," Peyton said with a smile. "Now, let's go. If he is a vampire, then we need to find out soon."
They ran toward the Fifth Street.
