Your Social Media

I don't really get pintrest. I know that probably makes me look a bit stupid, but I just never really understood the craze. I did have one for a while, but it was just boring to me. Completely pointless.

It just depends on how you use it. A chick I know is crafty; she is all the time sewing clothes and what not, making 'things' out of junk. So her pins are clothes patterns and other little crap like she makes so she can get more ideas and what not. I think, like anything else, there is a purpose for pinterest, it just doesn't have a purpose for everyone.
 
I have FB, Twitter and Instagram. I'm mostly on Twitter and Instagram to follow my fav actors as well as some movie media stuff. I'm barely on FB but use it to keep up with family and old friends. I'm not addicted to any of them, I login once a day maybe. I do like to tweet some of my thoughts about TV shows though. I do stay away from the FB drama. That gets old, and I'm a private person, so I don't share a lot.

I do have one, but don't use it as much as I use to.
 
These days its mostly Facebook.
Nice to see what the family is up to, latest news about nephews, nieces and such.

I might post something that I've done, or something I've found on internet that I like to share.
But I average like one post a month. lol

Also have a Twitter account that I don't really use at all.

Used to be more active on MySpace back in the day.
But that was only with internet friends. Had no family there which I kinda liked.
I think it can be easier that way. Some things you don't necessary think the family needs to know and some things doesn't your friends need to know.

Mostly I use it or looking up new ideas. Craft projects, recipes, workout routines, or just geeky memes. But it does get boring if that's not stuff you are always interested in.

Myspace? Now those are the old days. lol. I just remember everyone was always changing their pages up with new graphics.

about the facebook stuff. The film Back To The Future. It may have been made in 1989 but it shows they were in 1955, and if it was in a film it must be true. That being so, I dare say some people may have talked about Back To The Future; proof beyond contention! Also, the next time my Time Machine goes back to 1955 I'll take some articles about the film.
Now excuse me while I walk through this wall.

Oh yeah I remember it, but can't really remember much about it, was it just like a crapper version of FB or my Space or something? Wayn is another awful one which is a bit of a joke and I only got signed up because a friend got me involved years ago before we both agreed it was terrible.
 
What is Bebo? It sounds like a person whose just been to the dentist playing peepo with a little kid.
 
I have facebook, twitter, instagram, pinterest and tunblr. Tumblr I never really worked out how to use, facebook I mainly just use messenger and a couple of groups, twitter I use fairly frequently, instagram mostly I just look at other peoples posts on there and pinterest I love!

Dammit.. I always forget about tumblr. I am not on that.
Does ANYONE periscope? Other than corporations? I think it would have some useful applications in the education setting.
 
There is always Linked In if you are a professional. Not all that social but you can track where former colleagues have ended up. Birthdays don't get celebrated there but work anniversaries do.

I tried using it to that end but found the whole thing very cumbersome and impractical. But I can see why others might like it.
 
I use Instagram semi-regularly and that is it. I deleted my Facebook years ago and it was a great choice. Anyone who I want to talk to I call, text and see in person. I like that Instagram is stripped down and I just get to see nice glimpses of things and I can follow accounts like natgeo, witness_change, whereloveisillegal, etc and have the positive boost in my day and be reminded that humans are connected and there are people who want good things and people who see what others are experiencing
 
I didnt have a home internet connection for 2 months so was stuck on the iphone for entertainment.... Yep,facebook is not for me.

The beheading video did it this time. I always choose "i do not feel safe on fb" when I deactivate. Ive usually already reported a bunch before that stage. (Graphic violence)

I like instagram more and more but it chews up data if I am not on a home connection.

Advertising gets to me, specifically targeted pregnancy and mental health advertising.
 
Instagram is light-hearted fun, posting cell phone snapshots that I like, largely hashtagged either "parenting", "horse" or "streetart". I have a handful of followers who are either the babywearing kind, the horsy kind or both. Facebook is keeping in touch with people I've come across over the years, and keeping up with information regarding the clubs and stuff my offspring attend. Also, the occasional political debate and lurking on some icky pages. Tumblr is for my fangirling (I love verbing). Twitter is occasional banter.
 
I have a minor presence in Linked In which is a website for professional and business-oriented chatter.

I do not have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr or any of the other sites. Prospective employers regularly ask for passwords into your account to see if you have said anything that they could use to disqualify you or disqualify you outright for not having a presence on any of these sites. This can only be stopped by getting everyone off these sites. And don't forget, if you receive a service for free, you are not the client, you are the product.
