Would you have prefered this? Obviously a lot would have had to change. Like Cordelia wakes up from her coma (for real) with a vision about the black thorn. Got any other ideas? Go nuts!
 
Not Fade Away was (to me) one of the best episodes of Angel and an excellent ending to the series. I couldn't picture it not ending with NFA so I'd have to say that I would not have preferred it ending with You're Welcome.

No. You misunderstand. Everything else in Not Fade Away is still the same, just with Cordelia thrown into the mix.

I would have loved Cordy in season 5. But I don't see her at W&H. I don't think she would have chosen to go. So we would have had a side-plot with her, still helping Angel, but not in the thick of everything going on in the evil law firm. Plus, she would have been dealing with her feelings about her actions (possessed by Jasmine) in season 4. We saw a tiny bit of that when she spoke with Wes in You're Welcome, but I would have liked more. Sigh, I just missed her so much.

No, I meant she wakes up at the beginning of Power Play with a vision of the black thorn. And at the cliffhanger of that episode, Angel reveals Cordy to the gang and the fact that him and her have been secretly working together since she woke up, which we then would understand was weeks ago. Maybe I should've explained this in the OP.

Oh well that's OK too, but I would have rather had her in more of the season. I know that Charisma did not want to be in every episode since she just had a baby, and that would've been OK with a storyline that did not include her going to W&H.

First, I think your thread title is flawed. It should be more 'Cordelia in series finale', rather than 'You're Welcome as the finale', which is sort of misleading...

Anyway, I think it would've been really cool if Cordy had been with them in the alley, but for Angel to reveal that he'd been working with Cordy all along, that she'd woken up without the audience's knowledge, would be unsatisfying and cheap. That's what I think anyway. It's like the Scythe--there's suddenly this powerful weapon that can defeat the Big Bad with barely any foreshadowing at all! I think it would be better if they knew Cordy was awake all the while, but she only told Angel about the vision.
 
With her status as a Higher Being, she would have definitely been an asset to the team at the final battle. She might have even been able to keep Wes from being killed or boosted Angel's power instead of having him bite Hamilton. Better yet, the fight's going on, Angel's getting his a** scattered all over the W&H lobby. Connor and Cordy burst in. Connor tackles Hamilton, temporarily distracting him, and Cordy yells, "Angel, BITE HIM!" Then the action resumes pretty much as it originally happened. (That not only gets Cordy back into the action, it also explains how Connor happened to show up at just that precise moment. Cordy brought him.)

Yeah, but if they know, W&H knows, and it's just not pheasable to play it that way.

So what if they knew Cordy was awake? It's still possible she could've kept the vision a secret from everyone except Angel.

I just don't buy that they would've let a potential threat like Cordelia just walk around. Not to mention, the black thorn would be suspicious.

But Angel, Wesley, Fred and everyone else on the AI team are threats. They might've thought to corrupt Cordy too.

Cordy has a direct link to PTB. It would be too much of a threat to them and their plans.

Agreed. I felt like Wesley and Cordelia should have been in that last scene, I thinking bringing back the actors as ghosts (they wouldn't be fighting, just a visual representation) would have been a tear-jerking moment
