Chosen Enemy's thread got me thinking. What if Dawn hadn't ripped up the photo? What if Joyce had come back in some capacity, possibly horribly deformed, possibly depressed like Buffy was after returning. Of course something like this would have affected the lives of the characters and the series as we view it.

I'm thinking about Buffy's later death. Would she have died at all- maybe Joyce would choose to die again for her daughter? If Buffy had died, would they still have brought her back?

Willow, who loved Joyce too, may have tried to make Joyce forget what happened with a spell, as she tried to do to Buffy. Would this have quickened her descent into black magicky stuff? Would it have hastened her breakup with Tara? Or would it be a different story at this point in time?

I'm sure it would affect other major parts of the story, but this is what I'm wondering your opinions about the most.

If Joyce had come back as a zombie I think it would have left us with one royally screwed up Slayer. She would have totally broke down, like she did in Spiral.

Sometimes I wonder if Joyce may have even come back normal. There was a chance she would have come back wrong, but it was still possible. I guess we'll never know.

I think that Joyce would have come back very wrong and probably would ruin the character which is why I think that the writers had Dawn end the spell, before we saw her.

Would've made a nice running joke for an ep or two, though...

"MUM!!! You left your arm in the kitchen again!" - "unnnnnggghhh.... Joyce sorry...."

Exactly! Limbs falling off and slurred speech, it just won't do. Then she'd attempt to make "zombie inspired art" for the gallery. Yeesh.

Well i hoped to see her came back as a zombie because that would have been interstining for Buffy and Dawn to handle

theres actually another reference to Joyce becoming a zombie in Chaos Bleeds, the novel, I won't give to much away but the description of Buffy's reaction is that basically she seizes up and cannot master the strength to fight knowing that her mom may come back in that way.

It would have been interesting if they had brought Joyce back, completely healthy and human, but with no soul. Neither good nor evil, without emotion or restraint of any kind, a total "want, take, have" personality. Just a normal human with no conscience. There are a ton of things that could have been done with something like that, ranging from comical to horrifying.
