Forget A Zombieland Sequel: Writers Have 12 Films Planned - Zombieland - io9

People haven't even seen the thing yet (well, I haven't anyhow) and they're already planning that far ahead? Doesn't that sound a little like jumping the gun?

Firstly, it's a fantastic movie. Everyone should go and see it. It's hilarious from start to finish. It also looks great, with wonderfully horrible effects. And there's one of the most inspired cameo sequences I've ever seen in a movie.

But, they're not planning 12. They said they have potentially enough material floating around in their heads for 12, but there's no way they'd actually do it. In a 22 episode season, there's always around 5 or 6 eps that could be condensed down to 2 or 3, and writers often have a lot more material than they ever actually use. So I'm not worried.

I'm just not to sure that a sequel would work as well. Part of the charm of Zombieland is that it takes you by surprise. I can see where they'd go if it was a TV series, and now I know that's what it started as it makes a lot more sense. But as more feature films? I'm not sure. Without a definite end point in sight (as there would be in a TV season), I think they'd struggle not to be pretty samey. But they proved me wrong the first time, I suppose. I know I'd still watch number 2 in a heartbeat.
