I was wondering If anyone knew about the background of willow's goddess-like factor was she a god before she was human? If so were her memorys just erased? And is that were her powers come from? Kind of like dawn or does she just become a god? And if so why was she chosen to be one? So did buffy take down two gods or just the one glory?

Wait, what? I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if Willow was once a goddess? I saw no indication of that anywhere in the show.

Willow has and always will be human she just has a lot of power that shes gained over the years of being witch, as for any Goddess statement she said it in season 7 from a very powerful spell to turn all the potentials in to slayers. She's probably just as powerful as the Guardians who made the Scythe but she never a Goddess, shes just an extremely powerful witch who is a force to be reckoned with in a fight. Look at what she did to Jasmine when she was controlling Cordy, she kicked her butt almost instantly and restored Angel's soul.

Are you perhaps referring to Dark Willow? Because if you are, I'm pretty sure that she was basically just supposed to be plain ol' Willow, minus conscience or restraint, plus a whole, WHOLE lot of dark magical energy, which was originally absorbed from the forbidden magical texts that Giles kept in the Magic box.

As for how many gods Buffy "took down," there was Glory, and the First Evil MIGHT be interpreted as some form of ancient god, since it was immortal and had worshipers, so I guess you could say that Buffy had defeated, or at least subdued, two gods.

But Willow, whether normal, vamp, or dark, wasn't one of them.

Kennedy is in no way qualified person to recognize who is goddess and who is not. I am guessing you went by her comment to Willow at end of S7.

As of Buffy defeating gods then i guess Glory counts as one, even if she was crippled a lot. The First was not goddess imo and while it plans were foiled it is still around.

I don't think Dark Willow was a god. I think Dark Willow was just Dark Willow. In theory, she didn't do anything beyond the realm of possibility for any human in the Buffyverse. She began as a regular human and then, due to her own studies, choices, and actions, she became a powerful witch.

I think the magic was just the avenue that was most accessible to Willow and appropriate to the Buffyverse. A computer geek could take things too far and become a very dangerous hacker. A martial artist or a sharpshooter or a master swordsman can take things too far and become a dangerous assassin. A team of mild mannered scientists can invent the A-bomb. A demented politician can come uncomfortably close to committing widespread genocide and world domination. We live in an age in which -- with the right skill set and the right tools -- a single human can destroy the world. I think Willow's magic was a Buffyverse appropriate metaphor for whatever your particular specialty is. Willow is human, so human that her powerful emotional response to a tragedy might have been the catalyst for Armageddon, and yet still so human that a little bit of love could save the world. All things considered, I think it is essential to the story that Dark Willow be merely Willow.

In my little brain... i wanted to believe when she said the godess line... willow not kennedy... that she was channelling tara... *shemps off*

Did you read that in Q.O.S by any chance lol!! I like that idea also XD
I don't think Willow was ever really a Goddess... I just think she harnessed the forces of light instead of the forces of evil and she said "Oh my Goddess" because she was experiencing the power of higher beings and she being the big girl power advocate that she was said 'Goddess' instead of 'God'. And when Kennedy said "You are a Goddess", it was kind of figurative, kinda like when you tell your friends "You're such a rockstar!" or something. But I never thought Willow was a Goddess; just a really hella powerful witch.

Yep. Willow wasn't actually a goddess. Just a figure of speech.

As for there being one god or two gods, etc...I think there are probably thousands of gods in the Buffyverse. The Council told Buffy S5 that Glory was "a god", not "God." Therefore we can safely assume that there are plenty of gods in different dimensions.

There were more than 1 even in Glorificus own dimension, other two banished her.

Yeah, I think that left a nice little hole that Joss and co. could fill anytime they so chose to. 😛

Putting the whole Willow is or is not a godess thing aside it would still only be one god....The question was how many gods did Buffy take down and well technically it was only one (she didn't even kill Glory either but she did stop her). Buffy never defeated Dark Willow...and even then she couldn't have been a goddess as she was fueled on vegenance and dark Magicks. So it doesn't matter if Willow was a Goddess or not because buffy never defeated her...

If i was to debate the Willow Goddess-ness i'd have to agree with Shempy because i love the idea that it was Tara Willow was seeing! I think it's really a nice ending. Although i'd alsoo liked Willow to have been a Godess although as pointed out Joss didn't claim that it was actually Willow who was a Goddess.

What does it matter how many God/esses Buffy took down.

As far as I know there has only ever been one referenced God in the show and that was Glory.

There isn't a debate here, Willow/Dark Willow/Vampire Willow/Geek Willow/Lesbian Willow/Willow wearing strange clothes, none of these are referenced as Goddesses.

The original post, thus the basis of this topic, was

"willow's goddess-like factor was she a god before she was human? If so were her memorys just erased? And is that were her powers come from? Kind of like dawn or does she just become a god? And if so why was she chosen to be one? So did buffy take down two gods or just the one glory?"

Clearly HABEAS has, somehow, come to the conclusion that Willow is now, or was a God, so we've answered that.
Personally, I don't know how HC has jumped to the possibility of Willow being a former God with an erased mind, so it would be nice of they could rejoin the discussion and clear some of the questions raised at the beginning of the thread, so that we can answer exactly what they wish to know.

ok ok ok i realy did not word this right. What i was trying to say really was do you think willow becomes a goddess and was never before a goddess, or was she a goddess sent to earth as human i thought of this as gods are usual before humans and it is strange for someone to become a god plus the other gods seem to know her well in the comics and it seemed to make more sense even if it is a prety big conclusion

I really don't get what you are saying. Willow was not, is not and has not been a godess. And I don't think she's becoming one, either.

I don't know about Gods knowing her in the comics, but it stands to reason that beings who are all powerful, who believe themselves to be all powerful, would at least be aware of a woman who a) nearly destroyed the world because of the power inside her b) fundamentally changed the Slayer line and activated ALL potentials, changing the balance of good and evil.

Doesn't mean she is a Goddess.

Well, since this is a season 6 thread, I would argue (and have, indeed, already argued) that season 6 Willow -- even at her most powerful -- was not a goddess.

If you want to discuss the possibility as part of the comics, I'd post a thread in the season 8 thread, as there may be some validity to that line of reasoning in season 8. Out of respect to those who have not yet read the comics, though, I don't want to be specific about any corroborating events occurring in season 8.
