First, a friendly reminder of the signature size limit:

Signatures should be no more than 150 pixels high x 725 pixels wide total and should include no more than 8 lines of text. It also should not cause a horozontal scroll bar on a 800 x 600 resolution screen. Sound wavs, offensive language, links to other similar themed forums, and any quotes or pictures that would be 'spoilers' are not allowed. Please also do not include lists of names of board friends - while we are happy that you have made friends on the boards, this can make other members feel excluded and is contrary to the community we wish to have here. Site staff may remove items from your signature at their discretion without prior notice.

Your total signature should be no bigger than this banner:

sample.jpg

So please get those in line and save the mods having to pm you and/or edit your sigs!

ALSO,

Once again it's time to remind people to please use capital letters in your posts - meaning the first letter of a sentence should be capitalized, proper names, I, etc. I've noticed a lot of people posting in all lower case and it's not easy to read. So please take the extra second to hit that Shift key.

Thanks 🙂

agree on the sigs. Its not like 725x150 is small either!
i get that we have a lot of non-English dominant posters on the board but I have never really understood your second point. Is it somehow less easy to read because I opened this post with lower case i? I get the point, we should all strive to make more legible posts for the greater good of everyone else reading, but demanding the first letter of every post being capitalised is nothing other than anal-retentive and has nothing to do with making more legible posts.

Anyway, just my opinion, i'm sure you'll get plenty of people agreeing with you that we all need to be more legible, though I havn't seen many posts with people confused over peoples legibility as of late... especially over capitalisation.

Edit: haha...now that you mention it I do see a few. It's not so much illegible as much as it is an annoyance... of course I am refering to a complete lack of capitalisation through a post and not just the first word...which I guess now you were referring to. Though, in the case I am citing, its a non-english speaker anyway, where do we draw the line? We should all be more legible but we can't expect that everyone to become literary geniuses for the sake of the board.

I haven't yet noticed...I'm more focused on what's being said.
I don't think it takes a literary genius to know to capitalize the first word in a sentence. But this isn't a chat room and we aren't text messaging. People should make a little effort.

And I don't think it's too much to ask for people to take a little care in what they post here.

Silum agrees: My point is legibility has little to do with capitalising the first word of your post. It also doesn't reflect on how much 'care' people put into their posts.

Well, good for you if a whole post with no capitals isn't harder for you to read. Personally, I find it harder to read. Which is why I asked people to try.

And it certainly does reflect how much care someone puts into their post.

I just stated a whole post without capitols IS a problem. I'm only referring to the capital letters in the first word of peoples posts... demanding of such is anal retentive. ...Im repeating myself so i'll stop here.

Dude, really?

For the record, I didn't anywhere say anything about capitalizing (or not capitalizing) the first letter in a post. Nor did I "demand" anything. Jeeze louise lol.

Hahaha. "Louise"?
meaning the first letter of a sentence should be capitalized

Conversing with you is honestly becoming boring. Solely because of your arrogance.

Ouch! everyone has a different opinion and isn't it much more easier to show respect and do as asked wether you agree or not? it isn't your board.

Oh. My. God.

You know, you are free to leave at any time. No one is forcing you to be here.

Silum disagrees: Thankfully, there are so many reasons beyond yourself that keep me here. After your recent month, I would have thought this would be evident.

I have no idea what you're talking about lol, but it's fun watching you try. Hugs!

I suppose thats the best way to view the way people now view you on this board. The fact that you created such a great board speak volumes to your character...even if its not remotely evident at this time.

Miss Universe agrees: Who is that in your avatar?

Frank Lampard - plays football for Chelsea.

🙂

You know, that's funny - that's what people say about you lol

I'll be honest, that combination hasn't failed me yet....but then I am a fatty, so chocolate 'dessert' always, ummm, 'goes down well' - pun intended!

You are redeemed!

...ohh wait.

Ah, well, that was fun. lol

So, yeah, to sum up, please try and not post posts in all lower case letters and obey the signature rules. Thanks 😉

I totally agree about the punctuation thing. The siggy thing has only been a problem, that I could see, for a couple people, but the punctuation thing gets on my nerves so bad. It doesn't make it any less legible for me to read; it just irks me. It's not that hard, folks! LOL

I beg to differ. Actually bothering to play by the language rules as well as each and everyone is capable of shows that the writer is willing to have the readers in mind when writing.

On the capitalising thing, I'm not a native English speaker, as you all know, and although my English is fairly decent, lack of capitals and/or punctuation does make it difficult for me to understand what's being said. I guess it has something to with that we (as not natives) don't have the feeling for the language that native speakers have. Long sentences without commas in all the right places, for example, are a bitca to follow. Now we are all intelligent people, but a little consideration for the people who don't talk English day in, day out, would be nice.

But while we're on the subject of language, I would like to mention that the thing that annoys me more than the simple capitalisation and punctuation thing, is the whole kewl-speak thing. That is really annoying for me (and I think I'm speaking for more foreign people now). Now, I can understand that 'sum1' means someone, and of course our dear mods are working hard editing posts and stuff, but some posts slip through the net.

Good point. So if everyone could also try and remember to spell things out rather than using "kewl" or "text" talk, that would be great. If you aren't clear what that is, please feel free to ask a mod. 🙂
