#20 preview (Spoilers)

I cannot wait for this issue...it looks amazing. I wonder though if Buffy changes anything about what happened back then will it have far reaching effects on the future? Angel losing his soul for instance?

Well we still dont know how she was sent there or if this is all real. But since this looks to be set during S1 she wont be changing anything that drastic that already hasnt been changed by Dawn being there.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 #20: After These Messages . . . We’ll be right back! :: Profile :: Dark Horse Comics

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be December 3.

And seeing as I'm there maybe it's worth quoting the promo blurb as well.

Acclaimed comic-book writer Jeph Loeb (Batman: The Long Halloween) was set to executive produce, alongside Joss Whedon and animator Eric Wight, the proposed Buffy animated TV series. While Buffy fans won't be viewing that show anytime soon, Loeb, Wight, and Whedon offer the next best thing--a comic inspired by the animated series!

I do believe the "monkey robot" comment is just about "Wolves at the Gate" and the Dawnbot (yes, I know it's very painful, but we have to remember the Dawnbot). Well obviously it was a robot - and kind of monkey too, all with the tail and all. I really think that's all there is to it.

I think I will like this issue, I hope there's gonna be a good explanation for this. The art is fun. I'm glad it's not like this all the time though ! And yes I was a little bit surprised about Buffy's comment about Cordelia but, well, I guess she was just saying that for "fun" - besides, let's not forget she just saw the worst part of Cordy again, the "humiliating-your-best-friend" part. God she was such a bitca then, I never understood those people, what good can come of making fun of someone repeatedly like this ? Anyway...

OMG this was amazing they should have well done this as a tv show and dawn is kind of bratty but shes ten what do you expect and i love how buf tell willow and xan thier future thatb was funny i can't wait for her reactio to giles and angel cause that wold be funny if this is set in season 1 does that mean the master is still alive because that would be cool aswell and defo cant wait till next wwednesday to get this yayayayayayayayayayayayay

at first I was put off by Buffy's line to Willow; it seemed mean and catty. But then I was reading other people's comments at Whedonesque and someone posed the idea that maybe Buffy doesn't know that Cordelia is dead or was thinking of recent events. Buffy has just been to the future, seen her best friend still alive due to (presumably) her awesome magical abilities. From Willow's perspective every one of her contemporaries is dead, she's outlived them all ...including Cordelia.
Reading it that way takes the nastiness out, makes it funny, makes it ironic. Hopefully this is the way its meant. It's what i'm gonna believe until proven otherwise.
I hope this whole thing is just a dream with no bearing on the present/future.

This explanation fits seeing how the first thing Buffy thinks about when seeing Willow was "Willow's alive. This is before I killed her." So she was think about Future Willow when comforting Willow about Cordy being a bitch.

Hmm. I thought at first this was intended to be just sort of a comic-relief fill-in issue before the next big arc starts. Of course, that's what a lot of us had been expecting of "Once More With Feeling" too. In the Buffyverse, "gimmicky" does not equal "insignificant." This will be another issue to pay close attention to.

I think the time that Buffy has gone back to explains alot as well, I mean it would around here when Buffy tells Cordy 'You don't tell anyone I'm the Slayer and I won't tell anyone you're a moron'. Trés catty if you ask me. Also lets not forget how Cordy had just treated Willow in that scene, like she was a piece of dirt in her way. If someone treated my best friend like that I would saying alot worse than what Buffy did.

I really don't think Buffy knows what has gone on with the former Scoobies in L.A. and was just reacting to what had happened with Willow. It really wouldn't have been an out of place comment during this part of the show.

It's still kind of a harsh and unBuffy line.
Being a Goddess comes with certain privileges.

Who's the goddess? Both of them are far from it 🙂

Besides, Cordelia has just insulted Willow publically, she deserves someone saying something harsh about her. She's not the only one who gets to insult others.

I'm sorry, but doubting Cordelia's godliness puts you in the red...

Looks great! Its so nice to see Sunnydale High again! It would be to GREAT if they did a spin-off set during S1-3 in this style.

And Dawn is in charecter sadly. She was basically like this in S5 and dont forget this is set during S1 or S2 when Dawn was 10 or 11, we dont know her personality during those days.

Hi all this is my very first post. I love all things Buffy and Angel series. And to answer the comment about Dawn she's a little sister all of us with younger siblings can tell you their annoying and whiny and eventually appreciate us softening mom and dad up much later on in life. So what's the big with Dawnie acting like a brat she's supposed to be like 10(they no it alls, think back when you where in junior high and you'll see how dead on that is) also i was wondering if we all ready discussed the shocking ex boyfriend comeback at the end of #19.

There's a discussion thread for the current issue where people are discussing Riley's return among other things concerning #19. You can also open a separate thread for Riley discussion if there isn't already one in Season 8.
PurplePoof disagrees: I'm sorry, but doubting Cordelia's godliness puts you in the red...

Actually, if Cordelia is a saint or a goddess then I'll lose all my interest in her. She'll be just another face with no personality. Unrelatable.

She's an amazing person who acomblished a lot to the world and her friends. But during high school years? She's just a bitch who still has a long way to go. In fact, I like her better in high school years and the first two seasons of AtS than the goddess version of S3 and S4 AtS.

Buffy #20 is NOT listed on Diamond Comics Distributors' release list for this week, despite still being listed on the Dark Horse site as having a December 10 release date.

I had been surprised from the start to see Dark Horse listing it on the 10th, because they were (so we're told) going temporarily to a 3-week schedule, and it's only been 2 weeks since #19 came out.

Gotta get that release schedule shaped up, Dark Horse...

I'm not referring to her as a literal Goddess...it's an EXPRESSION that some of us poofy types use to describe females we worship and admire...

Geeeeeez.

So im guessing Darkhorse didnt bother to update their list and this isnt coming today? That sucks majorly 🙁
