Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning... What do you guys think? Did your favorites in film and television make it in? Did anyone or anything sneak in there that you don't feel deserves it? (I for one am squeeing like a fool that my Downey was nominated... eventhough I haven't seen Tropic Thunder yet :/ )

I'm really pissed that Synecdoche, New York wasn't nominated for anything. It's probably too "non-mainstream" for the Golden Globes but it had big-name actors and was brilliant...

With that being said, there aren't many that DID get nominated that I feel don't deserve it...

Synecdoche is one of my favourite words. Er, yeah, that's all. I like words, ok?
I can't believe Milk only got one nomination. It should've gotten nominated for Best Drama! I like that James Franco got nominated for Pineapple Express, he was so funny in that movie. Sex and the City got no noms? How is that possible? The HFPA loves the tv show! Awesome that True Blood got nominated.

Okay so I have watched True Blood, the whole first season, and I enjoyed it, it was entertaining, don't love it yet though and theres a part of me thats really bitter that it was nominated for the Globes right off the bat like this. I like Ana Paquin as much as the next person but I was never overly-deserves-a-nomination-impressed by her performance. I will admit that its entirely possible I'm just being stubborn about any vampire show recieving Awards attention because Buffy never did and Buffy, IMO, is far better than True Blood... so since there's just a chance I may be being petty I won't dwell on it :silly:

I haven't yet seen many of nominated films, but thats one of my favorite things about Awards season, getting to watch all the films before the awards air. So I'm looking forward to that, and then I'll be able to give an informed opinion on who I think deserves to win.

As far as TV, I'm really hoping that this is finally Dexter and Michael C. Hall's turn for victory, its been a long time coming. I'd also like to see Sally Field, Christina Applegate, David Duchovny and Rachel Griffiths win.

I've only seen a couple of episodes of "True Blood," and I just can't get into it.
Happy-go-lucky was a good film. Anyone else see it? the crazy driving instructor was ace! but man was poppy? (can't quite remember her name lol) soooo annoying!
 
I went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night and it was really outstanding IMO, definately lived up to all the hype! And admittedly I haven't seen the films of the other best actor nominees (they either aren't out in theatres or on DVD yet) but I'm gonna go ahead and say that this should be Brad Pitt's year. He should take the Golden Globe and I think he may just go home with the Oscar too... my official prediction 🙂

I really love True Blood, but it can't even compare to Buffy and SMG is a much better actor than Anna Paquin. Still, I definitely think that people are now starting to grow more open-minded about fantasy and sci-fi shows partially due to the success of shows like Buffy, so I'm glad to see they're nominating shows like TB.

That said, as happy as it would make me, I highly doubt True Blood will win anything (it could never beat out shows like Mad Men or Dexter.) But as long as Neil Patrick Harris, Heath Ledger, and Slumdog Millionaire win, I'll be happy 😀
 
Reminder that the Globes are tomorrow!!! Who's excited?! I can hardly wait, but then again you guys may not be quite the awards show junkies that I am :biggrin:. I'm throwing a small Globes party and we're starting with the pre-red carpet on E! at 4pm and then on to both red carpets on E! and the TV Guide Channel (oh the miracles of DVR!!) and then on to the big event @ 8pm!

Also for you Dexter fans out there, I just read that Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter Are Married! They've been "secretly" dating for over a year and they eloped on New Year's, the Gloden Globes will be their first public appearance together!
 
i love golden globes because its movies and tv merged together, im rooting for house to clean up and as for movies i would love if kate and leo won
