2025 Plans

LoL @NotASlayer
I joined a gym last week. So hoping to get a little more fit. Biggest plan is my upcoming return to Japan trip at end of October. Halloween in Tokyo is gonna be EPIC! ๐ŸŽƒ
I really need to join a gym and start exercising again. I've gained a lot of weight and it's affecting my health. The plan is to join one and start swimming regularly and doing pilates again.

Tokyo sounds amazing! What made you choose there for a trip?

My GF is a Japan 'Stan'. We went there last summer for concert. There's a thread in the bronze (look for Bekkazilla...)
I tried to cut down on doom scrolling, but then I realised, what does it matter? I'm still procrastinating in the evening until bedtime, if that's watching a television show or doom scrolling. Even if it's something more active it's still just a way to kill time until its a more acceptable time to go to bed.

Is it bedtime yet?

I really hope to buy a house, and I think that might the only plans I have.

Holding myself accountable: Well, I have been close a copule of times, but I am devilishly picky and havenโ€™t found the right one yet. So the search goes on in 2026

I'd love to own my own home especially in Pittsburgh or Philly.

I was offered a chance to live and work in Pittsburgh back in 2001 where I would be working for a company that made flat panel displays. I would be making $96,000 per year but if I ever wanted to come back to the Toronto area, the housing price rise would lock me out of coming back unless I wanted to settle for a town house. Also, I would be working for two people who owned the company and had a combined age of 160 years. There were some people I know that took the offer but I saw them back in Toronto a few years later, so the company must have never gotten off the ground.

The head guy pissed me off no end by downplaying may ability as a successful proposal writer and engineer, so I decided to stay where I was. But if you are a fan of engineering breakthroughs, I saw a flat panel television made with an electroluminescent flat panel display and it was the first of its kind. There were a number of lineouts but it was still functioning. This guy was Peter Brody, the man who coined the phrase "active matrix". He had a reputation in the industry of being "difficult" and as the director I was working for at the time said he was proof that working with cadmium selenide on a continuous basis turned you into a complete asshole.

I'm planning big. I want to open my own business and go back to school for entrepreneurship.
Also, plan my trip to Costa Rica I wanted to do for my 40th birthday...

So my plans on doing exercise to improve my flexibility got exactly nowhere! My cardio has improved, thanks to walking more, but I hurt the sole of my foot and this reduced my ability to walk for a few months as it got better. And, given that it rapidly did so after getting new shoes, I think the original problem was caused by wearing worn-out trainers.
