'24' (Spoilers for UK)

Well spoilers if you havnt watched.

Did anyone else notice the opening scene where they say to Bauer, "well re-convene tomorrow at the same time". I just cant wait until the season finale when you just know bauers gonna return, half blown to pieces with bandages over half his body as he finishes the court trial.

It was an awesome premiere anyway.

Yeah, I left that same message on a friends wall as I was watching it.
Loved that comment.
Now we can begin to picture the series finale.
Jack coming rolling in and looking at the Senator and simply say

I can't wait I was so excited all the way through last night 🙂 My bloke reecons it will be a double double double bluff and Jack is the bad guy not Tony lol

After everything Jack has been through, he will never be the villain...though that doesn't mean he won't be treated as one.

I do think that Tony isn't as bad as what we're being lead to believe.

There was a moment last night when I thought he seemed to purposefully hold something back...can't remember it now (not the planes)
 
I do find it difficult accepting Tony as the bad guy I have to say. Perhaps CTU won't ever exist in this season even after the court case!! Perhaps Tony went undercover just before CTU was dismantled.

I guess we'll see.
Tony does have the PERFECT cover story of why he has gone rogue.
Tony was my third favourite character, after Chloe and Jack.
 
I dont think Tony will be the bad guy just because that essentially means everyone he ever worked with on the first couple seasons has turned evil, lol.
 
And is the FBI bird guna end up as his new woman? Jack has to have a love interest, but God help her if she gets too close as she will be kidnapped at some point, and probably killed.
 
Just finished watching eps 3 and 4 at the FOX site. This is getting really fun and twisty. The same old '24' variables are all in the mix (moles, corruption, double crosses. And Chloe.). I hope they can maintain this to the end. The Sangala invasion stuff itself is...whatever. The geopolitical stuff on this show always seems so fakey, but it doesn't matter.

I think the 'module' that can down the aircraft, power grids, water etc is going to be over with by 2/3 pm. Because the writers put too many scenarios of American deaths in play and they also put a 1 pm deadline to start the withdrawl. I'm going to guess that the show is going to focus on moles in the FBI, White House administration, and the former CTU (someone in CTU gave Tony a shot to mimic death). I got the statement of 'we will continue with the questioning tomorrow at the same time' and I thought wouldn't it be great if Jack comes back with this is why I do what I do as he drags a few moles into the senate hearing.
Off the top of my head I would have to peg Gerofalo as the FBI mole (who knew she could actually act?). The clean cut annoying guy is too obvious. The White House moles have already been exposed from the movie it being the Secret Service but maybe the Sec. of State too. I may be reaching for a CTU mole but either it's a weak explanation as to why Tony's alive or there is merit to Bill saying there was a mole.
Does anyone think we were cheated (those of us who avoid pre-show spoilers) that in the preview's of the first 2 hours they showed Buchanan and Chloe? When I saw them I knew right then Tony was undercover. The producers ripped us off of a 'yeah he's a good guy' moment. Although what were some of the bad thing Tony did prior to seeing the light of good again???

Yeah, Garafalo can act, she's good. She had a movie career for awhile there. I love that Bill/Chloe/Jack/Tony are their own little rogue CTU-style 'cell'. That's cool, if completely ridiculous. I think your timeline for the module stuff sounds right.

There are a lot of potentially interesting story threads. Who's the initial FBI mole? What kind of trouble is the First Gentleman going to get into investigating his son's murder? How far does the corruption go? What's gonna happen when that red-headed FBI agent (forgot her name) catches up with Jack? And yeah, what bad things did Tony do? Wonder if they'll get into that.
 
Well the First Gentleman (FG) investigation is going to open the door for Jon Voight's character to get into the mix, he was the baddie in the 24 movie and called for the hit on the son. That's why I think the module will be quickly recovered and the show will shift focus on the moles and Voight, and what his skeletons in the closet are going to add to the story!
Is CTU totally disbanded or is it still functioning? Because I got a major question/curiosity...who's funding the little rogue CTU cell? They are in a high scale Washington site (marble walls) and have some extremely high end equipment which I'm guessing are not available at Best Buy or Circuity City! Also can't wait to see if they put the two paranoid computer geeks in a scene together, Chloe and Garafalo. For some insane reason I see them as a Spy vs. Spy cartoon.

Good question. Whose resources, tech are they using? Maybe they're funded through Tony's ill-gotten gains, if he has any. Or it's stolen. No idea.

It has been confirmed by the Season 7 Trailer that "CTU is gone" and Jack Bauer is on his own while Chloe has to help him. According to issue #11 of The Official 24 Magazine, CTU has been disbanded at some point between Day 6 and Day 7, although it is possible that this is only a ruse, and that the organization has actually gone underground. However, the first episode of Season 7 confirms that CTU is gone and a Senate probe is investigating some of the techniques used by CTU.

So if CTU is disbanded (thanks GB) where did they get the coin to fund their operation? Maybe it is Tony's coin but it sure has potential to be a huge plot point in the season.
Possibility #1: if Jack's daddy blew up, and his brother died who inherited the family wealth? The lost love sister inlaw and nephew AND Jack's daughter. Kim and Chloe had a quasi friendship so maybe Kim has seen the light and picked up Daddy's torch. Tony did throw her name out there when Jack was interogating him. It would be a cool plot twist.
 
Redemption was kind of sucky, but the actual new season is kind of reminding me of what I once loved about the series before the horrible season six. The only things I can think og that I didn't like were:

1) A mole....again. Honestly, this is so tired at this point. Can't they just quit it and come up with something fresher?
2) Jack's speech in defense of torture at the beginning of episode one. I never minded that they used torture in 24, because its just a tv show but this speech seemed like it was defending the actual use of it (as per the creator's political views) in real life, and honestly, that's just nutty.

See, if someone said to me in 2001 'If we torture this guy, we will find the bombers before they even get in the air' I'll be the first to hand them a kit bag with sharp implements and honestly speaking, I don't care what people think of me for saying it.

If its a choice between one confirmed (and that has to be the part thats checked) terrorist suffering pain OR thousands of innocent, law abiding, people dying needlessly then there is no contest for me, screw his [expletive deleted] human rights!
 
Oh, I just watched episode 3.

I don't mind admitting, episode 3 just got he HOT.

First of all you have Almeida/Buchannan/Chloe all working together.

Then you have Jack and Tony escaping (these two together - awesome).

I actually quite like Janis Gold so to see her go up against Chloe was whetting TV.

I swear,possibly the single greatest episode to date.
