30 Days of Bangel

Fav Bangel episode in S3 ?

I have already said that my favorite Bangel episode overall is "Amend" but in order to not repeat myself I don't choose it for this time. I could go with "The Prom" or "Graduation Day" but I feel theses are popular and will be choose by others members, so my choice is "Lovers Walk" !

There is a nice step forward in the Bangel relationship in this episode. Since Angel's return, he and Buffy did not really admit their feelings, I feel they were hiding behind the excuse "Angel needs Buffy to heal, Buffy help him get better that's all "and this episode is the one where all the masks fall and the truth resurfaces. Buffy and Angel know very well that love is always there between them, and I want to say that thanks to Spike and his speech they finally manage to accept their feelings and not to hide the truth. This is an important step in their relationships : The acceptation of whathever happened in the past, they can forgive each other and love is still here. Plus, I think that what Spike said encapsulate well my vision of Bangel. And the end is heartbreaking, because Buffy says she has feeling for Angel but she isn't ready to continue the relationship whereas Angel is not ready to not have Buffy around him !

10. David's favorite quote about Bangel: That would be the Ultimate, to become human and ride off into the sunset with Buffy.

I think it would be better if you follow the rhythm of everyone. It would be less confusing I think. We are on Day 5

Graduation Day Part 2

ANGEL
You've been watching over me?

She nods. He weakly takes her hand, tenderly kisses the palm of it. Willow's a little confused.

WILLOW
Well, we've been taking turns...

ANGEL
I thought I'd never... see you again.
I can't leave you. I was wrong... I
need you.

WILLOW
Oh. You mean you need Buffy?
--------------------------------------------
ANGEL
Buffy... It's you?

BUFFY
It's me.

He smiles, weakly.

ANGEL
I didn't want to go without... seeing you..

POWELL
(to the nurse)
I'll need a rabies shot treatment.
(to Angel)
Any allergies?

ANGEL
None. Just help her!

He is holding onto a doorframe -- and he RIPS it off in his urgency. The doctor eyes him, warily.

Day 5: Fav Bangel episode in S3?

I would say Earshot is my favorite, for the reasons @Mylie outlined earlier this week, and Amends is a close second for me. But since we've talked about that one, for today I'm going with Helpless.

Mostly because I just love this moment:

I hate that Angel gets so much crap for giving Buffy a book of poetry, because to me it's meaningful and I do think Buffy appreciates it even if it isn't something she would have chosen for herself. Her echo of "Always" in Enemies shows that, right?

And she's really reacting to the loss of her powers, not the gift, in the scene anyway. I love Angel's reassurance and when he says that he wanted to protect her "more than anything in my life."

Forgot he says “i need you” can’t tell you how many Cangel battles i have had over the years where their argument was “Angel never told Buffy he needed her” this makes me happy. 🙂

Edit: even though it was Willow but in his mind he was talking to Buffy.

Day 5: Favorite Buffy/Angel episode in S3?

Everyone else has already said some of the best ones, so I'll go for something more underrated. "Enemies." Buffy and Angel play their parts so well, tricking Faith, and the only moment Angel's Angelus act slips is that brief tender expression he gives Buffy when he looks up at her. Ages ago, I watched that episode with two friends who'd never seen it before, and when they saw that look, they were both like "Wait a second...". It was great. And, of course, "Always." (Can't tell you how annoyed I am that the Snape/Lily fans have appropriated that word. It's ours, dangit!)

Me too! (Also 'boo' to Snape/Lily, loved the story but dem Snape fans/shippers romanticise him way too much, IMO)

Day 4 : Favourite S2 Buffy/Angel episode?

'What's my Line' for me too.

Day 5 : Favourite S3 Buffy/Angel episode?

'Earshot'. It's on par with 'Amends', which gets points for Buffy's 'strong is fighting' speech and the dream sequence. But today I'll say 'Earshot' because it gives us some rare low-key interactions, which are a nice counter to the 'angst' that they're generally famous for.

You all know that all my choices here are kinda arbitrary, right? I love pretty much every moment for what they are.

Seriously. Snape is a creepy stalker with terrible hygiene who, had he actually cared about Lily as a person, would've listened to her and ditched the Dark Arts to become a world-renowned potioneer. Instead, he became a member of a wizard Nazi organization that specifically targeted people like Lily and spent the better part of two decades being needlessly cruel to children, to the point where he was the greatest fear of at least one of those children. His redemption arc was based in selfishness, and he never managed to let go of his deep-seated bitterness. One of the more disgusting things he did was outing Lupin as a werewolf out of spite, condemning him to joblessness and potentially homelessness. James might've started out as a spoiled douchebag, but he grew out of it and dedicated his life to fighting the Dark Arts. I know which of them I'd be more interested in.

#Maraudersforever! ('cept Wormtail)

I like his redemption arc, but I never understood how his 'Always' warrants the all praise he gets. The man spent years deliberately tormenting the child he's sworn to protect, just out of spite! This was an 11-year-old boy who had known nothing but abuse and neglect all his life, something which Snape must have known, and bearing in mind his own background, Snape should have been the first to identify with him. If he wanted to remain distanced from the boy because he couldn't let go of his jealousy then fine, do that. A cold and unapproachable teacher wouldn't have made much difference to Harry's school life overall. But, no, he had to actively bully him! 😡😡😡

I think the films are at fault here for playing down Snape's cruelty.

I like his arc too. I think he's a fantastic character, very tragic and flawed. I just think it's gross to ship him with Lily, and the movies definitely didn't help.
Day 5 : Fav Bangel episode in S3 ?

I know it has been mentioned upstream so I'm sorry if I'm not being all that original but I have to go with Amends. It is such a pivital episode for their relationship and moreover for Angel.

I love that despite Buffy trying to stay away from Angel she can't help but worry about him. Her desperation at the idea that he is about to kill himself is powerful. Many people argue that they dislike that Angel didn't agree not to meet the sun due to Buffy's pleas for him to follow her inside but I think it was important for Angel to live for more reasons than just Buffy. The snow gave Angel faith that some higher power felt there was a reason for him to live, it was bigger than just him and Buffy. I think this inspires him to find his own purpose in life - where as before his sole purpose was helping Buffy. And this is good for their relationship because it is unhealthy for your entire universe to revolve around one person, healthy relationships are forged when two people have their own paths.

Nevertheless, Angel internalizes so much of what Buffy says to him on that hill top. She tells him that he has to fight and he tells her in Gingerbread that he is still sorting everything out for himself but "I do know its important to keep fighting, I learned that from you." She inspires him and I think that is pretty remarkable.

But more than this, I challenge you to find me a time where Angel is as vulnerable as this with anyone ever in the run of his entire show? Where he admits that he is weak, that he wants to give in to the darkness, that he is worried about not just his demon but the man. Never. Angel never shares a moment as raw and as powerful as this with anyone else. He lets Buffy see the very worst of him and yet she loves him anyway.

I watched a video recently its a vlogger that does BTVS reviews and she was reviewing "Never Leave Me" and the Vlogger had a segment about "why we love Spuffy" and she said a number of things that I disagreed with but one of the things she said was that Buffy never felt she needed to be polite with Spike and she hasn't done that with anyone else. And I thought of this episode.

Buffy is very honest and does not sugarcoat a thing with Angel here. She says if he dies now he will die a monster, she says she will not mourn for him, she tells him that he is weak and being a coward. Buffy is obviously angry with Angel for not fighting. I really love she does not hold back with him. She puts it all on the table. But she loves him. At the core of it she loves him so much and she wants them to fight together and its really beautiful.

( @Grace - sorry for the repeat Amends review, I put alot of the same stuff on the B/R forum 😀 )

Day 5: Favourite S3 Buffy/Angel episode

Earshot, for all of the reasons @Mylie mentioned earlier. I love all the little moments and most of all the fact that they work out their issues.

WILLOW
So you're feeling better about Angel?

BUFFY
Well, we talked, and then he ripped out the heart of a demon and fed it to me, and then we talked some more.

WILLOW
See, that's how it should work!

Beautiful! 😛

I also really like Helpless, The Prom, and Graduation Day. Amends is an incredible episode and as much I love Buffy/Angel in this episode, I always think of it more as an Angel episode.

Just to clarify, @Antho, favourite look literally means Angel looking at Buffy/Buffy looking at Angel, correct?

you can do both ways if you want :)
Day 6 : Fav Angel look ?

Well, I love Angel in AtS season 1, so I'll go with this classic look:
