from thewb.com:

Taking over the Los Angeles offices of the supernatural law firm Wolfram and Hart proves to be more challenging than expected for Angel (David Boreanaz) and the gang, especially when their first case involves representing an evil client (guest star Rod Rowland) who threatens to destroy the city. As the gang settles into their new careers at the law firm, they meet new and familiar faces, including the mysterious Eve (guest star Sarah Thompson, "Boston Public"), who will act as Angel's liaison to Wolfram and Hart's senior partners, and the bubbly vampire Harmony (guest star Mercedes McNab) who is Angel's new assistant. Most surprising of all is the arrival of Angel's old nemesis and fellow vampire-with-a-soul, Spike (James Marsters, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), who makes a miraculous appearance.

This will be part 1 of 2.

Joy!!!!!

heheehehehehehe

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

just wanted to express my dorkish joy at the first act of the season primere......you have reached ritual sacrifice, press one to sacrifice a goat!

feel free to get on the joy train!

"hey pookie bear" (something like that) was great to have as the last word, Loved Harmony in this and I liked the episode. It was funny and it was abit light, expect abit more darkness.

Eve she is ok but definatly no Lilah, I expected Cordy(the old Cordy) walking in and talking about the place I definatly miss her.

All in all I give this episode a 9

Wesley: Spike.
Angel: Spike.
Harmony: Blondie bear!?

that did it for me!

i thought this ep was really funny at parts.....of course it starts out as a helpless girl on the street.......haha...then after being saved....surprise....everyone comes swarming in....with angel just staring..in disbelief.....that was good. Gunn being all law savvy was pretty cool....i love him all hard ass and all....but i also love his little comments in the trial..they were funny.

I also loved him using the phone....i think that was the funniest part of the whole show. Sacrifice a loved one or something...haha. Loved when spike came in!!! wow he was hot......

next weeks ep looks good....i couldnt stop laughin when after angel said we're with W&H...and spike was like....im his date......lmao....this could turn out to be a very cool season.

Re: Joy!!!!!

So. Gunn is a lawyer!?!?!?! Wow. I mean. Hmm. But okay - I'll roll with it. I guess it was sort of an inevitable necessity to make one of the gang a lawyer, since they're running a law firm and all. 🙂 Pretty good opener. Too much hokey wire-fu, but I loved the opening with Angel swooping in. The whole follow up to that opening with his staff converging on the scene was brilliant!

Yeah - that cracked me up.

I really liked how Gunn is like Lindsey in trials... I loved that...

Eve is fine by me, I like her...

damn, its hard to remember what was in this episode and what was in Just Rewards.... grrrrr......

opening scene = awesomeness

I also thought that scene with the W&H evil guy was pretty powerful, you know the one about conviction and mercy, really liked it

I'm really interested in finding out how Spike returned, I mean.. how is it that the envelope and amulet got sent to w&h, pretty weird

Wow. Just finished watching this ep, and man, I have to say that this was THE best Jossverse Season Premiere since 'Bargaining'. I'm a HUGE Harmony fan, so seeing her back was incredibly cool. She's even funnier than she used to be and fits very well with W&H. I really, really liked the opening scene, with Angel saving the girl only to be ambushed by half of W&H. Hillarious stuff. I also loved Fred's little freak-out speech (very reminiscent of Willow's 'We don't have time for this' speech from 'The Dark Age'). I think making Gunn an actual lawyer was a brilliant move and should bring an interesting element to the series. Plus, it allows me to use the phrase "Charles Gunn, Attorney at Law". If this ep is any indication, this season is going to be just as fun as the last one (and probably moreso), and I for one cannot wait to see what happens next.

Man... Eve - she's got the 'evil good-looking bitca' going for her - I'm all for her staying throughout the season. I find it overly sexy, and I'm surprised that I actually ended up liking her.

I still can't get over the fact that the rest of the gang won't remember Connor. Almost like a whole history has been erased which is beyong aggravating.

I agree, Harmony had some funny lines and I did think the funniest was the last line "Blondie bear?" I was just thrown back in my chair with laughter with that one.

Lol @ Knox-y ... he's absolutely my favorite so far. I smell a love theme between him and Fred.😀

I was rather disturbed by the shot to the commando guy's head... hilarious, but disturbing.

However, for a Joss-written episode... I didn't find it all that impressive.

All I could think through this entire episode was, if Spike's back... Dru should return.

"You're not cute when I'm angry..."

How many great moments were in THIS episode, huh? Despite two things, I felt that this was a beautiful beginning to what will hopefully be a beautiful season.

1) I felt like I was breaking in a new pair of the same old shoes. This episode felt weird up until the very end. It was like, "Hey, I know the characters!" But the scenery felt all wrong. Hopefully it will just be something I will be able to get used to. By the end of the ep, I was already starting to feel the whole law thing...my feelings are still pending on this...

2) I felt a little jipped with the lack of Spike in this episode. I know, I should've known better. With Joss, all the extra shocking parts come at the end. But, still, I had to be a little annoyed by the way the ads featured Spike, and none of the stuff they seemed to be showing was in the episode.

BTW, I don't know why the WB seems to be toting this as the lighter brighter Angel...A man, planting a virus in his own son, and Angel blowing a HUMAN'S head off doesn't feel very light to me...and that's the way I like it 🙂

I absolutely hear that. Well put.

But it was a light, whacky virus! If it wasn't microscopic, you totally could have seen the teensy little clown car the virus was driving around inside the kid. Like an evil Magic Schoolbus.

I liked this episode I was happy because I wasn't sure how things were going to work out. There were definatly some great lines throughout the episode inlcuding the telephone stuff, but I'm sure it will get even better with Spike being back.

I'm not to sure how I feel about Eve yet I think its to early to say if I like her or not. I don't think I really have a feeling towards her yet, but she could become a really interesting part of the show in time. Harmony was great I wasn't to sure about bringing her back, but in this episode atleast she was nice to have around. Then of course the famous ending scene lol she was a definate nice touch and wasn't really expected. I kind of assumed that it would end with Angel saying Spike so when she poped up like that I almost died.

Awesome...I can't wait for next week. When Spike came whirling back in I could have died...Next weeks gonna rock!

I seemed to follow pretty good considering I haven't even seen but a few angel epps....I am fresh watcher. I am excited though that I decided to go ahead and watch starting with the season. I am backtracking as of last week.

I think that the next epp looks better though. Should be interesting with Spike in the mix...The "Blondie Bear" was great!

I was looking for a mention of Buffy, and couldn't find one. Was there one?

I kinda liked the episode, but I gotta say, if Joss is looking to attract new viewers, that premise is definitely a bit complicated for new viewers. But from what I've heard, the episodes are just gonna get better and better.

Harmony is just awesome.

Man that was awesome. And did you see the promo for next week? "I'm his date." This is going to rock! I hope that the WB keeps Angel around for many seasons to come. It just might be able to fill some of the void that Buffy left.

This episode had some great quotes. I did not get them down word for word, so I won't butcher them, but man, this is one worth seeing again. This definately is not lighter or brighter. (That shotgun thing was awesome!) It may not be as deep and drama-filled as last years' episodes, but I like it this way. The new Gunn is great. He is like muscle for a law firm. It is totally him. I am not sure how I feel about Eve, but I definately can't wait until next week!

I liked the episode a lot - it's great to be back! I loved how they started out the episode with a scene we've seen before...only to have it end up so differently!

Harmony was okay - not making me excited that she's going to be on but also not dreading it. Eve I could take or leave, except that I can't think of her as anyone but the character she played in Cruel Intentions 2. Ugh.

I loved how you catch the glimpse of the envelope at the beginning and then finally in the end - poof! - Spike. Also liked how you kind of sit there wondering (along with the characters) whether they can really do good. Also got me wondering about lawyers in general having to defend known criminals and how that must weigh on them.

I definitely like the vibe I'm getting from Angel, and finally we've got Gunn with a real place for his character to go. Should be very interesting 🙂
