Just finished watching 5.2. Here is my well thought out and considered opinion:
ROCK THE F*ING CASBAH!!!
That was a really fantastic episode. Much better than last weeks season opener! I didn't like Harmony last week , but this week I loved the interplay between Harm and Spike!! Hell hath no fury like an uberditz scorned! Or something....
Loved the buckets 'o lawyer too. Like Joss says on the DVD commentary for Innocence, "Killing extras....funny every time."

It was ok, had some funny moments.
Nice to know that Buffy is in Europe and that her and Angel keep in touch.
Is it me or does Buffy(the show) look better shot in widescreen(or whatever they use to shoot Angel in) because it just makes the show look 10 times better.
Harmony and Spike interaction was funny.
8/10 for this episode.

why did spike seem cold, he was holding his jacket close to him all the time and can't he tell angel to call the buffster! thank gosh eve was not in it cause man after two minutes i was sick of her!!! that was at least the old angel we like instead of too much-daylighty angel and also when spike said " im terrified" it made me really sad! and that shirtless scene of DB was not appealing!

It's good to know that Buffy's in Europe. I wonder if the rest of the Scooby Gang is with her ...
I loved this episode. Everything about it was superb. I mean, I'm not the biggest Spike fan but I really liked him in this episode. I can't wait until next week. Werewolf lady? Hmm ... 😉

Didn't anyone besides me notice that when Angel answered, he hesitated first? Do you honestly think he was going to tell Spike where Buffy really is? While I'm sure that Angel knows exactly where Buffy is, I seriously doubt that she's in Europe.
Overall, the was an AWESOME episode!! Yeah for us!!!
My two favorite undead men were in perfect form. Hot. Bothered. All riled up. Fur flying. I don't think I have ever seen Angel as aggitated with Spike as I did tonight. Keep it coming!!!
Season 5 is definitely going to Rock My World!!!!!!!

Permanent state of confusion...
I think that Angel's got a real chip on his shoulder; not telling the others that Spike saved the day, that he and Buffy had a thing (that was understandabel), and not telling them that Spike had a SOUL... Couldn't help it, but i was routing for Spike all the way through this ep. Yay Spikey!
So does anyone else think that the writers are going to try to cultivate some "chemistry" between Fred and Spike? I don't know if i like that or not.....
Anyway, all in all, i enjoyed the ep, and loved the writing, although i thought the story could have used some further developement... But who am i to judge. Well done team.

This was an awesome episode. I don't think it was as good as the premiere, but it was pretty awesome how they used Spike. The whole double triple crossing thing was pretty crazy. I was getting so confused, but came up happy in the end. It was nice to see some sympathetic moments between Angel and Spike. I did find it weird though...at the end of the premiere, Harmony comes in excited with "Blondey Bear?!", but in the beginning of episode 2, it's "What the hell are you doing here?"
In any case, I thought it was a great episode. Great usage of Spike. And I loved how they showed part of the Buffy finale at the beginning of the ep.

Excellent episode! An improvement over last week's premiere.
The interaction between Angel and Spike were dead on. Fantastic! Someone stated that Spike's character seemed to have regressed. Of course, you have to understand from his POV that a) he's dealing with Angel; b) his death didn't go off as planned, hence his anger and frustration at TPTB; c) despite his "regression" and dislike of Angel, he helped his grandsire overcome the necromancer anyway. James Marsters' performance was fantastic, although there were moments when he seemed to overdo it a little. However, his last scene with Amy Ackers was great, as he brought out Spike's pathos and fear of being permanently stuck in a hell dimension. As for a possible Spike/Fred romance "“ I don't see it. Given time, however, they have the potential to be good friends.
David Boreneanz was also great. It seemed as if working with Marsters has brought out the best in him. I had no idea that Angel had so many issues regarding Spike. I guess it would have been a lot easier for him to believe that the Bleached Wonder had not changed. It's interesting that he had failed to inform the AI team of Spike and Buffy's relationship, Spike's soul and the fact that the latter had saved the world. Hmmm, resentment anyone? It seems as if both Angel and Spike have major issues that need to be resolved between them. And the first issue they both need to get over is Buffy. Drusilla would be the second.
I have also heard people complain that Wes, Fred and Lorne were not seen much in this episode. Well, I cannot deny that, although it looks as if ME is establishing a friendship between Spike and Fred. However, did anyone notice that Gunn did not seem to be suffering from a lack of scenes? In fact, if I did not know any better, I would swear that he seemed to be slowly assuming Wes' role as Angel's "Prime Minister".
As for Harmony, she did not bother me one bit. I have always liked Harmony. Quite frankly, she is a lot of fun to watch. And I really enjoyed her reaction to the news about Spike's relationship with Buffy. Hmmm, jealous much? Poor Harmony. Even after shooting Spike in the back with an arrow and declaring her emotional independence (see BtVS' "Crush"), she still has not gotten over him.
Magnus Hainsley, played by Victor Raider-Wexler, was deliciously creepy. And powerful. I wonder how he would do against Willow? I also wonder how many of his previous clients are now walking the streets of L.A. By the way, did anyone recognize Raider-Wexler from the AMC series, "The Lot"?
All in all, this was an entertaining episode. I'm curious to see what next week will bring.

Loved this ep. Loved Spike on Angel-which surprised me...
Shouted out loud that Angel's shirt was off with great glee, as if my hubby needed to know....he scowled at me, then laughed....
Agreeing that, as cute as he is, Angel is VERY annoying when it comes to Spike. I hope this little excersize in trust has taught him a thing or two about our good blonde vamp 🙂

I though I was going to die from laughter with a lot of Spike-Angel interactions. They were funny. And a lot of the interactions also showed just how unsure of himself that Angel is regarding Spike. Not telling everyone about the soul and his relationship with Buffy. I liked it because it showed Angel in a humanized way... jealous over another instead of a good-doer who's always there to help out.
I was really mad when I thought that Spike was really playing Angel with Hainsley. Furious, actually, that they were going to be portraying Spike in an evil light again. But everything was fixed at the end. Spike was shown having compassion and fear for going to the chasm beneath his feet. It was awesome to actually see Spike respected.

Is this season an easily understandable one if you haven't seen Angel seasons 3 and 4? I have seen the first two seasons on DVD, but I don't get the WB so I couldnt see season 3 and 4. I would like to start watching again since it has some Buffy connections apparently and Spike, and it sounds like it's going to be a cool season. Can I just start watching from the premier or do I have to watch 3 and 4 first? Should I wait for the re-runs to catch up to season 3 and 4 on TNT? Thanks 🙂.

I think that the most important thing you need to know about the season is that Angel has been given Wolfram and Hart to run...that happened in the season finale on Season 4. Other than that, so far, you should understand fine.

The plot was a five-minute thing, pretty minor. I thought that Spike had made a deal with Hainsley, but it seemed too evil of him. Looking good with your shirt off, Angel!
The Spike and Angel banter was great. Good episode. Do not put Spike and Fred together. And give Lorne something to do! The guy didn't get to say five sentences.

What I don't get is if Spike already told Angel the plan to get Hainsley, why would Spike come to Angel after and say that he wants eternal rest and that he should be at peace? That scene just messed up the story arc.

I think Angel was sleeping in the pre-dawn hours, like 3-6 am. You're right, why did Spike say he wanted eternal rest? Maybe the scene went on and we didn't see the rest of it.
