605 - 'Him' Official Discussion

Ack - I came late into the conversation and didn't see it before 😉 The angels turning around, as I took it, was a joke because angels are supposed to be all-good.

I thought the whole episode was hilarious! I could NOT stop laughing. And honestly, I don't see why many people found Dawn so annoying. I used to think she was beyond annoying, but I didn't think about that at all this episode. Dawn is getting a lot better this season. I just thought everything about this was hilarious.

And did anyone notice Sarah has bangs, now? Call me obsessive, but I love it! She looks so cute! (as always) 😀

I saw some of this episode being edited and filmed and I have to say it's so much funnier seeing it all together that in bits.

Does anyone know how easy/difficult and how cheap/costly it is to fix that kind of stuff post-production? If they can show Dracula turning into a bat, can't they digitally remove a reflection?

The guys that do the effects are amazing to watch and they're extremely talented. So if they did miss that reflection it was either because it was too difficult to take out or not in the budget, therefore they just had to hope you don't notice it. Or maybe I'm wrong.

I finally saw ... YIPPIE ... very funny!

But it probably isn't in the budget, because it indeed doesn't seem that hard!

When Xander and Spike are at RJ's brothers house Spike is looking around the room. He is standing kinda behind the couch to the side. He is looking at stuff on a shelf and picks up these little angel figurines and turns them around without saying a word then he moves on to the pictues on the mantle and starts talking about the jacket.

If it is not something you are looking for ( or like me Spike-obsessed and intently watch his every move! 😛 ) then you can miss it.

That's so cool you got to watch it being filmed and edited! How did you get the chance to do that? Do you know someone who works in that area of television?

i just thought it was a joke. spike didn't want angel looking at him, because he's a bad man.

Or maybe he's expressing dislike of *Angel*, Buffy's ex.

When you have a show like Buffy that's been on for 7 years, it can be budget concerns. I guarantee you SMG is getting paid a buttload more per episode than she was in the first season...but your episode budgets don't switch much at all. With some small exceptions, haven't any of you noticed the degradation in quality of the special FX the last 2 years? When you spend more money on actors/talent, it has to come out somewhere, and in the case of most fantasy/sci-fi shows, that ends up being post-production, where the FX are created. Is it excusable to see Spike's reflection? No. But is it understandable considering how much dollars have to stretch on a TV budget? Yes. Still, I blame the director of this ep. It's his job to make sure FX guys don't have to try and fix shots like that...Spike and Xander could have hid behind a wall instead of a window.

I think there's a lot of ways that can be interpreted (I don't remember it, so I'm going by what;s been said here)....I think my favorite interpretation is that he's mimicking Dru's treatment of Miss Edith.

But also Joss receives more money every season, he got way more for the 6th as for the 5th etc. And that's noticable, the FX are becoming better and better and better! ... Be honest the Demon Guy from "Same Time, Same Place" ... WOW!!!

OH MY!! This ep was soo funny. Well the second half anyway. The first half, I was just wondering what is going on here? Dawn is acting like a fool. And then once Buffy fell under the jacket spell.. I finally got around to thinking.. hey this is buffy! something mystical is afoot. hehe.. i know, shouldn't have taken so long to get that. but once anya and willow joined in the fray it was phenomenal. Yes it was primarily filler, but the middle of the oreo is my favorite part. 😀

i read that there was part cut out when spike and xander were walking up to RJ's house;

xander is talking, and spike pretends to start hearing voices, and says something like "what's that? you want me to kill xander? why? oh, all the endless prattling on".

heh. would have been good if they left that in, since spike was really quiet during all his scenes.

Well this is kinda a stand-alone episode and if they'd put that in it would be so much stand-alone, besides if Spike would say things like that in the presence of Xander, he'd be kicked out of the closet within seconds!

Spike living in a closet is kinda pathatic, it reminds me of Harry Potter living in the closet, before he became a wizard, that was sóóó sad!

I saw the ep last night. I loved it so much. I was watching by myself b/c my sis went home for the weekend - I laughed so hard and so loud I swear the people in the apartments next to me must have heard! Where Buffy is gonna kill Woods and then Spike comes running in and just throws himself and their chasing each other! Gosh I laughed SO hard. This has to be the funniest ep I've ever seen.

As for Spike turning the angles around - I noticed that too and was wondering what the significance is. At first I thought that maybe it made him uncomfortable b/c he does have a soul now - angels-heaven etc... However, after a while I started to think that maybe it has to do with Angel: they both have a soul but I don't think Spike really wants to see himself as being like Angel - plus Angel was Buffy's true love and Spike loves Buffy....

Anyway - great ep!
