When you have a show like Buffy that's been on for 7 years, it can be budget concerns. I guarantee you SMG is getting paid a buttload more per episode than she was in the first season...but your episode budgets don't switch much at all. With some small exceptions, haven't any of you noticed the degradation in quality of the special FX the last 2 years? When you spend more money on actors/talent, it has to come out somewhere, and in the case of most fantasy/sci-fi shows, that ends up being post-production, where the FX are created. Is it excusable to see Spike's reflection? No. But is it understandable considering how much dollars have to stretch on a TV budget? Yes. Still, I blame the director of this ep. It's his job to make sure FX guys don't have to try and fix shots like that...Spike and Xander could have hid behind a wall instead of a window.
