This is the official discussion for 'Him'

I was so eager to talk about the episode, I just started this thread. 🙂

This episode was awesome! I thought it was so funny. I think the bit at the end with Anya quickly shutting the radio off was cute. I think they could have written a bit more on the whole Xander/Spike duo thing. A lot of jokes could have been written with that one. Overall, though, it was great!
 
haha I was laughing so hard that my mom came in to ask me if I was okay! Dawn was lookin' kinda skanky there... 🙂 I loved her hair curled.

I also loved the part when the screen split into four parts and it showed what each other girls was going to do.


Ooh! Ooh! Also, when it showed the principal in his office and Spike and Buffy in the background fighting and running after eachother! That was priceless!
 
Honestly, the Dawn scenes were pathetic, embarrassing and just a waste of time. There's really no need to develop her character since this might be the show's last season. I wish the producers would just concentrate more on the essential characters of the show. Anyway, the arguing scene with Buffy, Will, Anya and Niblet was pretty good.


Willow: "This isn't about his physical presence. It's about his heart."
Anya: "His physical presence has a PENIS!"
Willow: "I can work around it!"
 
OMG the part with Principal Wood and the rocket launcher was SOOOOO funny I was laughing my ass off

but overall this epp didnt really advance the plot at all.. seemed like it was filler 🙁

yeah, i didn't really see anything important for the plot of the show, besides Spike moving in with Xander, which is odd. You would think that Xander would kill him and not have Spike, but no....

I still thought this episode was hilarious. I enjoyed it. You need a bit of humor to lighten up things. Of coarse, this might be something that we all need when we see next week's episode. Yikes!
 
So it didn't advance the plot - it was one of the classic humor eps we need every season. Buffy did tell Anya that "with something bad coming" she "didn't want my friends out there alone".
1) It reinforced that Anya was part of the group and
2) it kept with the plot of something big and bad coming.

I laughed so much! I also LOVED the scene with Principal Wood in his office with Buffy and Spike running back and forth.

My favorite scene was Will and Anya discussing who loved RJ more. When Anya said "What are you going to do? Use magic to turn him into a woman?" and then she realized what she said and went "OhGod!" And then when Buffy came in and said "Willow - you're a gay woman." And Will said something like "See! I love him more considering the whole 'orientation' thing!"

The only thing that was confusing to me was that Buffy, Willow, and Anya were funny and flirty - Dawn seemed so serious like she wasn't under a spell.

Oh well - still a great ep.

Next week seems to be very interesting as well. We shall see.
 
This ep wasn't all that great. Dawn trying to commit suicide was obvious, but it was a classic humour episode that didn't further the plot much.

I never caught the part where they mentioned that Spike got out of the basement. Was that in the ep two weeks ago? They kept talking about it, but I thought he was living in the house or something. and where does Xander live now? is Anya still in their apt? or is he?

The best scene was when Buffy was talking to R.J. and she starts out all strict and slowly melts into flirty girl...

And buffy looked HORRIBLE in the Bronze scene... Her make-up was seriously wrong.
 
I thought this episode was hillarious. What about when Xander asked Spike if he had the plan, and they just run out and snatch RJ's jacket, then take off. There was so much that was funny in this episode, I just wish I'd taped it. Spike's moving out of the basement was mentioned in Selfless, when Buffy told him he needed to move out because it was making him crazy. As far as plot advancement goes, I know there wasn't much, but I think Buffy admitting that she "feels" for Spike was pretty damn big.
 
I didn't think this episode was funny at all. Same Time Same Place was way funnier. Dawn was angsty (ie, whiny), and that bothered me. I do like dawn, I want them to focus on her, but not make her so danged depressed all the time.

As for Willow...do I need to go there again??? Actually, I was expecting to hate it more than I did. But it's still dumb that everyone and their mother forgets that, hello, she's loved two people. One was very much a male.

See, I wasn't gonna mention it....but I'm obsessed. And I have FiveByFive's blessings. 🙂
 
the whole dawn aspect of this eppy really bugged me. While everyone else was humorous and flirty, she was depressed and well...annoying really
 
Definately a filler episode. I didn't like it too much. I did have its funny moments though, like when Spike tackled Buffy with the Rocket launcher, and when Xander and Spike jumped the kid with the magic jacket. I thought that funny for some dumb reason.

But yeah, the Dawn angst was annoying. And i don't know why they recycled a plot from a number of seasons ago? Bad idea, and even more so to refer to the first one in the episode.

A very lackluster script. Next week better be better 😀
 
I liked this episode, classic humor. I mean come on sure it didn't do much for the plot and Dawn was angsty (like some teenagers get...anybody remember Buffy the first season...angsty! Very angsty!).

But come on, you can't possibly say you didn't laugh until you cried watching the Spike and Buffy scene outside Principal Woods office, I mean come on! that was Hi-Larious!
 
Sure, Dawn was really whiny, but I think they did a good job with it. The other girls had all been in love before. It was a first for Dawn, even though it was a spell. Plus, she just started High School so she's like what, fifteen?
 
I think she was already IN high school when she started going to Sunnydale High... they were just going to the one in the next town or something. Or maybe she really is a Freshman, but that doesn't seem to fit with her age, she's got to be at least 16 by now...
 
Well, folksies, I've watched the ep all the way through three times now (some parts, more than that) and I have to say I think this was one of the funniest ones yet.

Sure it recycled a previous episode. But then there have been alot of eps this season that could be considered redos. This is just the first one that mentioned it.

And it doesn't matter how many times you rewind and watch the scene outside Principle Wood's office while he's quietly listening to department store muzak - it just gets funnier and funnier and funnier. Then the X/S thing with the jacket. That was priceless.

I think there are a few things that move the story along in this one. Not only that Buffy "feels" for Spike (that one is a biggie, lets be honest), but there is a comeraderie between Spike and Xander (which we've seen before - when they shared a basement). And Anya is definitely a part of the group.

I don't know I think I'm going to have to dig up an old CD and listen to the theme from "A Summer Place" a few more times - it definitely has a whole new meaning now.
 
Ok, guys...just started a new thread about this, but since we have an official discussion for "Him" now anyway...for the eagle eyes out there, did the vamp in the preview for next week look like Parker from S4. Haven't seen him since "Beer Bad". Alot can happen in 3 years...and he recognizes her as Buffy the girl, instead of Buffy the Slayer. Any replies, post to my thread in S7 section...BTW, Dawn was way too whiny, and using a clip of Xander's love spell ep in S2 was a nice touch, even if it was filler. 🙂

Dawn's age in season 5 is quoted as 15...which would make her most likely a junior now...and all I have to say about the Bronze scene is "Ditto" to Xander's remark, and this is the first time I've ever thought a cast member might be hotter than Emma Caufield...

*blink* I don't know that song. Is that what they played everytime someone fell in love with R.J.?? What did I miss?
