I just wanted to send a message of love and kindness into cyberspace.

I have just spent the last minute in silence as it was the 6th anniversary of the Attack on WTC by terrorists.

On top of that, i'm looking at news papers, watching news bulletins and reading internet articles about all the bad things in the world and it saddens me.

It saddens me because the world is full of beauty, its full of good and it's full of decency, but this is rarely seen as it doesn't make for gripping news.

I'm tired of seeing the bad. I'm tired of having to 'fight' to be seen as a good person. This isn't how it should be.

That is why I want to start a thread.
I want everyone to post in here once a day, I want them to post one random act of kindness.
It doesn't have to be huge, it can be something small - but it has to have happened.

I believe that the more kindness you show, the more you will be given.

It may not make the headlines change, but it will make your life a little nicer.

I'll start by saying a random one I did today.

I helped someone carry her luggage up the stairs at Victoria Tube Station because I could see she was struggling.

Its not huge, but it was something.

ps - don't limit yourself to one random act either🙂

Its not much but here have some positive Karma to pay you for what you did - you are amazing anyway
What a nice thread! 🙂

I agree - I often say that strangers should be far nicer to one another. It was so lovely when I was in Devon recently when I encountered a cheery woman who was saying "good morning" to people regardless of whether she knew them or not.

It's nice to hold doors open for people, let them on the bus first, or pick something up for someone when they've dropped it.

Along these lines, Danny Wallace's books "Join Me" and "Random Acts of Kindness" are enjoyable reads.

I will give you positive Karma and ignore the last line;)
I've been at work all morning and haven't had much contact with people to do a random act of kindness. But I would like to report a random act of kindness that I received this morning a trainer at the barn I work in bought me a sausage and egg mc muffin from Mc Donalds. I thanked the trainer for otherwise I usually just wait til lunch to eat. It's nice to know that a mist all the madness of the world that there are others that care to think of others. Whether it be helping an elderly lady off the bus, carrying luggage for someone, buying someone breakfast, etc.. It is the little things that makes the world seem a little brighter and a little less gloomy.

Indeed - which is why we should all endeavour to post every day in this thread as this would mean we are doing these things to lift the gloom

You had me until you mentioned Danny Wallace!!!

I had the *********** of being interviewed by this man on Castaway when I left and what a **********.

Having said that, his books are ok🙂

Thanks for saying it's a nice thread by the way🙂

I changed the stuff myself because this is a thread about being nice and I want to stay on that side.

Sorry for my moment of anger

Ah I met him once and he seemed quite lovely, although it was in the context of a book-signing! But yes, RAOK is a good source of ways to be nice 🙂

He has to seem quite lovely, he is trying to sell to you - I had a different experience with him and he isn't a bad guy, just a tad arrogant and too interested in himself.

I have to also say that RAOK may be a 'good source' but I can tell you another that far outweighs any literary piece - your own conscience and heart.

Gosh, I'M turning into one of those Philosophy Students I despise!!!

No, I'm not, i'm turning into a good person.

Wait what if they are the same thing?

Oh my stars, i've spent my life hating the wrong people.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!

It was not today because I have been sick and spending time in bed, but last sunday I helped a couple of lost Irish tourists find their way back to Brussels

I said Kindness, sending them back to Brussels you monster.
Just because they are Irish doesn't mean you have to be so....wait, you think you did them a favour - OK, I get it.

Hey I can't help it if their hotel was there and that most trains to paris/london/amsterdam/... etc. leave there too. I saw, I helped, I felt good about it, am now considering a career as official tourist helper... think there'll be a badge?
You wait untill you are lost and need to get back to Brussels for some obscure reason and I'm not around! hah! 😛

Oh I absolutely agree, on both counts (well, with the Walster only on the selling point because I haven't spoken with him any time else). I don't use the book because I'm always looking out for where I can be of help, but I've heard others say it's a good nudge in the right direction.

A woman came out of the hospital and her legs had been hurt, and even though we're not supposed to get cars for people if they didn't valet, I got her car for her since she had trouble walking...I felt bad for her.

I don't know if this counts but I've been driving my boyfriend and I home from work the past two days. I used to make him do all the driving to and from work before I quit working before Ryan was born. Pregnancy made me so tired........So now I am driving us home from work to make up for those times he drove us to and from work so I could have the extra nap time.

Hmm.. I'm cooking extra food to bring for my mum at work. Kinda lame, but oh well. Haven't had much contact with peeps today, oh I did pick up a step for someone at the gym.

Yesterday I let a bunch of people turn in front of me so they could get in to traffic. They were trying to get in from a place that's not that easy unless someone lets you in. Of course, most of the time, people won't, they just pass by! I let four in front of me, then the guy behind me honked his horn, so I flipped him off. LOL!

Well, I do random acts of kindness from 8:00 - 2:30 every weekday.

I am a teacher. I play many roles to 26 needy children all day long. I am teacher, mother, nurse, friend, confidante, liasion, librarian, supporter, peacekeeper and cook.

It's something that's very rewarding.
